The Eagles' schedule is atrocious.

We knew the opponents and locations in January. It was just a matter of when.

The Bye is in a good spot. No real travel burdens. No apparent rest inequities. It just feels worse now that it's on a calendar.

That's a pretty good pick of games. The only one I'm unsure about is Denver. They have a good defense. That could be a brutal game if their offense can get their crap together. I'm not sure about the Vikings either. I think they lose one of those games, but hope I'm wrong.

I feel like both those teams way overachieved last year and will come back down to earth. Especially Denver. I could see swapping the loss at Dallas for a loss at Washington, but I am more pessimistic on Washington than most (I think they miss the playoffs). I wouldn't be stunned to see the Giants finish second in the division.

I went with:

5-1 against the division

4-0 against the NFC North

2-2 against the AFC West

1-1 against the Rams/Bucs

Lose at Buffalo

Looking at it, I might flip to winning at the Chargers (will be a home game) and losing at home to Detroit. I think Philly and Detroit are miles better than everyone else in the NFC.

Either way I think you are pretty damn close to nailing it. I don't see the Lions coming in and winning a game the Eagles will be up for at home.

Only one SNF game is shocking.

Chargers being MNF after Black Friday game is also a bit of a mini bye.

The good news about the schedule is the Eagles are better than every team on it.

With 9 away games and opening at home, we really couldn't have asked for a better schedule. Some positives:

  • one extra day of rest before playing at KC in Week 2

  • Giants at home before bye (games before the bye teams always seem to be flat, nice to have an easier opponent at home)

  • Rest advantage before trip to LA, which is the only long flight of the year (coming off Black Friday to a MNF game)

  • Raiders at home after coming back from LA on a short week (had to go to Baltimore after playing SNF in LA this past year)

  • One day extra rest before at Bills

  • No 3 game road trips

Haven't seen how many guys we have coming off their own bye, but really, this could have been a ton worse.

Schedule aside, there was one thing about last season that I would hope is addressed this year - our end-of-game pass defense.

Atlanta, Jacksonville, Carolina, LA in the playoffs all looked too easy. It may be why their first two picks were defenders with strong coverage skills. That said, a Reddick-like closer at DE would also be helpful.

Cue a @Sack that QB rant about Edge depth.

Has the entire SNF schedule been released? Are we sure the Lions or Bills aren't?

No, it has not. Saw a Tweet indicating Lions was SNF.

You really have us losing to the Chiefs in Week 2? Perhaps more than any other, that is a Big Boy Pants game. They will be both prepared and psyched for that game IMO.

Why do you think they will lose that game?

Given Tampa is in September... although it's in the mid to high 80's with a realfeel in the 90s through October in that city, so wouldn't have mattered much if it was in October either... the only thing I care about now is how many opponents the Eagles have coming off of byes. So far it's the Vikings.

We also gave up garbage time TDs to Washington at home, LA and Baltimore in 3 consecutive weeks during the season. Vic loves the soft shell, don't get beat deep stuff when up 2 scores in the 4th. It almost burned us against LA in the playoffs (that and Slay brutally mistiming his jump on the long pass to Nacua).

Chiefs revenge game + we lost in KC in 2017 and I wanna do it again

EDIT: Also, it will warm my heart to see Nick Wright get all excited and cocky again just for us to beat the Chiefs by 40 in the Super Bowl

I hope Tampa has the same bye week as us. I always worry about hurricane season and that game is smack dab in the middle of it. It would be nice if there was some flexibility built into the schedule in case of an issue.

Better yet, let the hurricane happen and no chance to reschedule to a mutual bye week = play the game in Philadelphia!

Oh wait, they only cheat like that for the Giants. But play it at a neutral field.

So a league that can't avoid two instances of two games in three weeks against the same opponent can manage to align bye weeks in the event of a hurricane affecting western Florida?

Recently we spend the 1st month of the season putting our pants on with the preseason philosophy and passing experimentation.

I’m not necessarily saying I wanted the league to intentionally work it that way, but it would be a happy convenience if it worked out.

Might happen. Only Weeks 5, 7, 8 and 9 haven't been leaked yet

Schefter can F off. They have a 3 day draft. They don't need another TV money grab.
