6 hours ago6 hr It appears to me that Hurts take a long time to process what is happening on each plays & make his decision. If the plays is simple like 1-2 reads and you go, he can do well with those. Handing the ball to Barkley or he takes off on his own, he manages that well. If the play takes time to develop, he needs the OL protection. If it is not there, most of his round outs to the sideline end as throw-away. The new OC needs to call plays that suit his ability to be effective.Unlike last season, Barkley did not have room to run. The personnel changes at OL would be a factor. But the drop-off is so large that suggests more issues than that. Stoutland has to figure that out and fix it in a hurry.Ringo was targeted and his weakness was exposed. He was playing to avoid mistakes and not in control of his assignments. Maybe he will get better with game experience, if the coaches trust him to put him out there. It was an embarrassment to lose like that. 2 rookies dictated the game and our guys had no answers. This team still has a lot of talents and there are many games to play. Nick has to steer the team around and be competitive again.

Why purposely hamstring a talented roster with a QB who isn’t capable of doing what a NFL QB is required to do? If it really is Jalen and not the simplicity of what Sirianni wants to do then why not just put a guy in who can do what you want?

What would your reaction be.Patullo obviously changed the offense to make it easier for Tanner.I guess what others have been saying may be true, and Jalen needs things to be perfect to funciton.Jalen played great with Steichen, and pretty good last year. I think he doesn't need things to be perfect, but it is obvious he can't overcome incompetent offensive coordinators.

Saidwe have the best LB combo in the league. They've made plays, also mistakes, as typical for rookies. Q & DeJean last year were a blessing, but not the norm. It was obvious last offseason their plan included rookie & 2nd year player growing pains.Mukuba is the 2nd best safety on the team. CB2 and pass rush are the issues, along with injuries to Nolan Smith, Carter (missed 2 games so far with the ejection & injury and banged up when playing), now Q is hurt. The rookies will get better, especially when Carter & Smith back.

Good defenses work as a unit, but often not in equal capacities - one part tends to provide opportunities for the other parts. It is pretty rare to have a defense where you get equal contributions from the different levels. In 2022, our defense was scrimmage strong. That is, we had an absolutely beastly line + OLB combination that was generating sacks at an insane rate, and this did not allow teams time to exploit our secondary. This is why they fell apart with the trash field in the Super Bowl - they had no traction so they broke down, and our secondary became easier to expose. In 2024, our defense was secondary strong. Despite the end of the year performance, our pass rush actually wasn't all that, but our primary CB trio (technically quartet, since Rodgers was half of Slay's position) was so sticky in coverage that it provided additional opportunities for the rush consistently by forcing QBs to progress through their reads. This is especially good with Nolan because his raw speed means using your legs might not be as effective as you think unless you account for him.Losing CB2 removed the anchor contribution of last years defense, which stopped masking deficiencies with the pass rush. That's the real reason why getting rid of Rodgers was a dumb decision, it's more than about CB2, it's about not understanding the structure of what makes your units good. The Eagles need to understand that while building from the trenches is a good general philosophy, they need to take into account where the anchor contribution of their units are coming from.

4 hours ago4 hr I still think a big reason why we’ve seen an overall conservative passing game with Hurts this season and last is an over correction from the disaster that 2023 was when he was a turnover machine. The big difference this year is that his deep ball, for whatever reason, has gone in the tank when it’s usually his strength. If he hits AJ in the Denver game and DeVonta last night, we’re probably having a different conversation. Those are two plays that change how everyone feels right there. But that conservative strategy worked last year when you have Barkley rushing for 2,000 yards. That clearly isn’t going to happen this year. The thing we have to hope for is that he doesn’t go into a deeper shell after that pick last night. His number one priority is to protect the ball, which is good, but it’s going to limit them on more aggressive balls that lead to big plays. He has to find that happy medium and have the confidence to make riskier throws, yet also not being dumb about it as well.

All of these things combined is just too much to overcome for the run game and the quality of play we are typically used to.
