Yeah, I’d never bring 5 - but showing blitz would be the honeypot to draw out a pass into zone.

There were defenders at the LOS bailing post-snap quite a bit too. I think that's where we hit AJ deep on that first TD. But Flores isn't gonna back off from bringing heat, that's just who he is. So unless you're Gannon who played a lot of 2 man under to force everything underneath, you're picking between giving the QB too much time or sending an extra rusher while leaving a vulnerability somewhere. Our screen game is atrocious so I get why Flores wasn't worried about getting caught too far upfield since we don't even have that as a viable option to counter them.

I'd send the Dotson. Not sure what they have to offer in return.

Glazer pretty much announced it pre-game before SNF. Said he can sign as soon as tomorrow.

nonono. I love BG. I have been a huge BG guy since before he was drafted. He was my guy that year. I love the way he walked away. And its how it should stay. I just don't think him returning is going to be good for him, and I don't know that he's ready to step in and play. Even after the bye week, he's likely still not going to be ready, but he'll play, likely get hurt and finish on IR, just like it looked like he was going to last year.

I think the AJ play they dropped 8 and somehow didn’t bracket him. Jalen was able to hold the ball for awhile, so a tough play for Metellus who didn’t get any help - reminiscent to what happened to Campbell the other game.

Jerry Porter Jr?

Just a clash of personalities, is my guess. Vic never was known for having a ton of patience, so if Huff didn't react well to his coaching or just rubbed Vic the wrong way, then it probably started off on the wrong foot without much of a chance to recover.

Huff is extremely one dimensional. DCs who feel taking his good with his extremely bad will highlight that dimension. Fangio clearly felt from the jump that it compromised his options.

Also… I’m actually bummed Graham is coming back. He got a great ending to his career. It just seems like a matter of time before another injury.

If the man wants to play football, let him play. What's he gonna do, a podcast?

He said that surgery wasn't a bad rehab for him, and we need a player exactly like him. And he's good in the locker room.

Hes had an extended off-season to fully heal, gets to ramp up into football shape, and plays a 9-13 game season. And we get to watch him play again.

This is more a general comment than an indictment of Vic vs. Huff…because I think that failure was multi-factorial, including personality conflicts. But I do think it is important to have some ability, as a coordinator, to harness one dimensional players. Your unit cannot be all probowlers and it better not be all well rounded JAGs either. Sometimes you need to integrate these unbalanced players who do one thing really well….pure pass rushers that don’t stop the run, great coverage DBs that can’t tackle, elite deep threats that struggle with the route tree, etc, etc.

Eh, this isn’t Dawkins or even Kelce where it’s just a rare pleasure to see him on the field. IMO, he needs to know when to walk away. If he returns, I doubt it’s going to be pretty.

One more thing...I don't think Campbell has been quite as good this year as an off ball LB as the hype would suggest. That's not to say he's been bad or even disappointing, but I'm not seeing anything precociously special to be perfectly honest.

Nakobe Dean was outstanding today and a huge boost for the defense. Given that he is the elder statesmen and immediately played so well, I think it's really hard to put him on the sidelines.

With the imminent and severe need at edge and how downhill explosive Campbell is, I just don't understand why they can't commit to that.

Dean was decent in coverage last year with his quad tendon attached as god intended. Campbell is excellent in coverage.

Dean is surprisingly fast with his repaired tendon in his very first game back. He represents a downgrade in coverage when healthy, and probably more so now coming off his injury. Aside from the athleticism, its the length of Cambell too.

I like the setup of getting Dean on the field when they can. I think they can keep defenses on their heels a bit more if they get creative about BOTH Campbell, and Baun reducing down to the LOS at times instead of just focusing on increasing Campbells edge snaps. He seems like he needs a bit more strength, and expanded arsenal of moves for edge at the NFL level. Baun can give some effective rushes, and Fangio seems against it for some reason.

I also think you are underrating Campbell. Althought we probably expected more sacks. Hes been a tackle machine along with Baun. He has caused turnovers, but I guess you can say we expected even splashier play from him.

Id say, I expected more splash, but also more mistakes. I think hes been surprisingly assignment sound, and racked up more tackles than I expected. I do wish we got more pass rush production from him. But, they did make him an off ball LB so we wont get a ton.

Agreed 100% on all counts.

The Dolphins are made of dog ish. Makes too much sense to try to get Chubb or Phillips.

I don’t think he’s really being utilized in a way that could generate sacks, so I can’t hold that against him.

I’ll take McDaniel to help out with the offense.

agreed.

As such, I dont know what more he could be doing to impress you more though. I think youre underrating him. Hes basically like having a 2nd Baun out there.

Going well in Minnesota

He’s an interesting case study. I don’t follow the Dolphins, so I’m basing this on the opinions of others…but it sure sounds like he knows how to orchestrate an offense and run a scheme. If that’s true, he’ll always have a job until he gets so annoying and eccentric he becomes unemployable. (See Todd Haley and Mike Martz). And he is both annoying and eccentric, but he hasn’t run his course yet through the league like the other two.

I don’t think any front office is going to want to burn it to the ground and let go of a coach that knows how to construct an offense.

Siri is an interesting contrast. At times, it felt like he was losing control of his press conferences and interpersonal interactions. But with more experience (and the confidence of winning a SB doesn’t hurt), he has gained a more impressive, natural, and less weird control of a room. That stuff seems unimportant but it impacts the length of a leash of a coach on a losing team.
