Wentz completely imploded tonight. I get that Vikings fans thought O'Connel was doing the same thing as last year with Darnold. However, Darnold has been really good in Seattle and after 2 or 3 decent games Wentz has come crashing back down to earth over the last two. I'm not a Wentz guy but I even thought it was sad watching him play tonight because the talent is/was there but something is just off with him. That INT on the throw to Jefferson was just horrendous.

I agreed with not resigning Darnold; people forget very quickly Darnold sewered the Vikings chances last season with two awful performances against the Lions, when every other team was torching the Lions’ decimated defense. He reverted to Jets Sam Darnold when the games got important.

The Vikings biggest mistake has been a really bad evaluation of how far along JJ McCarthy isn’t in his development. Wentz is a backup at this point and has been better than McCarthy has looked so far. They needed to sign serious competition for McCarthy at QB, although I don’t think anyone could do much better than Wentz with how bad the Vikings OL has been.

They could have had 35+ if Patullo was not brain dead and 31+ if Jake hits a chip shot.

Phil Simms missed 3 passes in SB XXI.

Hurts missed a few in the Super Bowl.

Wilt could have gone for 120 if he really was closer to perfect.

Why would you need to focus on that when you can find hundreds of things that the rest of the players and coaches could have done better?

Hurts was 98+ out of 100 awesome.

DeVonta was 98+ out of 100 awesome.

The defense did not give him scramble drill awesomeness. He extended the plays and made awesome throws on the move.

The D did not give him the 2nd AJ TD by double covering AJ tight. Hurts just made a perfect pass.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with 30% of the fan base. Its a debilitating case of Hurts Derangement Syndrome.

I don’t think either one of them was gonna take them to where they wanted to go, which is a Super Bowl title. Imo i think Minnesota’s bigger problem right now is jj getting hurt but now just not letting him play. You should just let him play. Wentz isn’t getting you to where you wanna go either. You’re better off seeing if this kid is just a bust or if he gets better each week. Can say the OL is bad and he’ll get beat up. But then you’re gonna go into year three and really not know what he is or isn’t.

I also kind of think they don’t believe in him. I don’t think they’ll come out and say it, but I have a feeling that within that organization they don’t think he’s as good as what they thought when they drafted him.

Vikings got pieces but are missing the main one.

I’m really curious how much say KOC had when they drafted him.

AJ Brown when the Eagles win, he has 2 TD catches and 100+ yards but another WR has more catches and yards and Jalen Hurts is getting all of the shine for a perfect QB rating.

It’s a shame but he’s just turned into a terrible quarterback. Even as a backup you want a guy who has a good bond with the locker room, can make the basic throws, makes level-headed decisions, doesn’t play hero ball, and plays within the system. It’s why a guy like Jacoby Brissett will probably have a 15 year career. It’s why Flacco has managed to stick around at age 40.

Wentz is just the opposite of that and I don’t see his career going beyond this season.

Wentz is no longer capable of starting in the league. I don't think McCarthy is either but they have to at least see. Nothing else they will be able to be in position to possibly draft another QB next year due to their ever worsening record.

JJ needs to be playing if he’s healthy enough. I kind of think he is. Maybe they didn’t wanna bring them back on a Thursday cause it’s a short week. But he needs to play his to know what he is or what he isn’t. Seen different reports and Colin cowherd has been the loudest with it saying it since JJ was in minicamps last year that KOC wasn’t all in on Jj. How accurate that is who knows. I agree and that's kind of my point. The kid has played two NFL games and needs experience and they need to evaluate him over a much larger sample size. I would imagine if he was fully healthy he would have played especially with the way Wentz played last week against the Eagles. Also they drafted the kid early and had Darnold in the building for a year and let him go elsewhere so obviously they like something about the kid and I'm not taking the musings of a clown like Cowherd seriously.

I’m guessing he’s done after this. He had reid and KOC coaching him last two years. If their coaching cant get you to be better than this then you are really just not very good

There were a couple of plays where he tried to escape the pass rush up the middle and didn't get through that he probably does before the injury. That being said it's all upstairs with him for the most part. He makes terrible decisions (still) trying to do too much and his accuracy is all over the place.

Imo Minnesota wanted Darnold back for another year. supposedly they offered him a deal but it was only a 1 year contract. I’m guessing their version of bridging the gap to JJ in 2026 when they felt he’d be a full year removed from his injury and ready to take over. Seahawks blew that contract out of the water.

Wentz is on a streak of about 30 months of QB rehab being taught by McVay, Andy Reid, and now KOC.

This is all he is now and he will never be more.

Worst part is he finally recovered to a player he once was in 2019 when he was thriving with practice squad guys after Alshon and Agholor got injured after being crap all season and then he had that disgusting dirty targeted concussion early in his first and only playoff game. He never recovered from that concussion. Just never close to the same player again.
