I was thinking this earlier when I saw the comments about the RPO. That decision to throw has to be very quick otherwise you end up with that downfield call since they started enforcing it regularly. It’s also different from college to pro, college get more room for the OL whereas in the NFL they get a yard if I’m not mistaken.

They get a yard... but can get further as long as they are continually engaged in a block. If they are continually engaged in a block, they can be as far downfield as they can sustain. Recently Steen was called on a situation where he was 3 yards down field, but would have been legal, except the LB worked free of the block... and then he was standing around doing nothing, 3 yards downfield. Which is sort of a weird way to have the penalty work.

Looks like Landon will play

The NFCCG that year was pretty close as well.

NFCCG turned into shooting fish in a barrel and beautiful to watch. The SB, from a toughness of throws standpoint, he was pretty close to perfect (thanks Alshon for messing that up). While Tom Brady was throwing to wide open targets, Foles was constantly threading needles and dropping dimes.

i mean, he's called big deek nick for a reason.

Would you do this proposed trade:

Ringo and a 4th for Woolen and a 5th

Yes. Ironically, just saw Woolen in the 10 players to watch at the trade deadline article on The Athletic, and this caught me eye. Seems like we already had the solution to this problem, but here we are.

Riq Woolen, CB, Seattle Seahawks

Woolen hasn’t performed at the same level as he did during his first three NFL seasons, and the Seahawks have plenty of talented defensive backs in Shaquille Griffin, Josh Jobe, Devon Witherspoon (when healthy) and Derion Kendrick. There are teams like the Lions, Eagles and Buffalo Bills that are hurting for playmakers at the cornerback position. Perhaps a change of scenery could do Woolen some good.

i'd do that trade.

we tailgate with ringo's mom. i'll tell her the news. whistle

In a New York minute

Siri needs to shave his head again. That’ll do it

Jakorian Bennett as big as Nolan Smith

I really don't want to see Landon Dickerson further aggravate injuries. Hope he's truly ready.

What happened to the Cockeyed Optimist?

Not that Ringo is any better, but Woolen is a terrible tackler.

Agreed. If he isn't 100% he shouldn't be playing at this stage.

I think Ringo is just a younger Woolen. This wouldn't move the needle for me. Rather keep Ringo for ST, the pick in our back pocket and let Bennett play CB2.

That is my take as well.

My cousin is a huge Seahawks fan. Has nothing but terrible things to say about Woolen.

Yeh I had forgotten the context around the actively engaged in a block. The point I was trying to make is that the longer it takes to make the read the more opportunities for that to happen. That read has to be very quick or you risk a penalty. I personally am not a huge fan of the RPO, at any level, but especially in the NFL.

You are correct. I was just adding some notes regarding the rule.

Woolen is arguably a downgrade from Ringo.

That explains why i didn’t think he was that far downfield on replay and was questioning why the flag was thrown.
