Using stats to prove you wrong is fun, but you also make it so easy when you box yourself into a corner like this.

Thank god for google. Its giving the appearance that youre doing great to all your other basic football buddies.

Well, everyone who knows ball knows that Hurts cares a lot about personal stats.

🤣

HE: "Hurts wants a conservative offense because he's too limited as a passer and needs to rely on a running game!'

Also HE: "Hurts is hacking the stats by throwing for 300 yds, 3 TDs, a perfect passer rating, and one of the highest QBR ratings in the past decade!"

That’s realistic. I guess what I’m looking for is progress. Teams are supposed to get better each week. The well-run and talented teams separate and rise to the top in November and December, while the others stagnate.

I was happy to see a combined 300 yards for AJ and DeVonta. Run game needs work, offensive coaching can be better, defense can't stop the run. It certainly isn't perfect, but there were improvements today to me.

One of us used data and facts to back up our arguments and the other one uses feelings. This is true.

No. Its not. But have fun impressing your basic football buddies.

The guy almost pitched a perfect game today. He doesn't beat himself. And makes all the big plays at the right time. Let alone, With Brett Toth at Center and a small semblance of a running game. Amazing passing day for the man! Earned my respect even more today. And today also clarified that the WRs finally got what they have been asking for after halftime and being under center with play action. They certainly found something with a top pass defense in the league. This is a huge development. Shows KP has been holding them back like we all thought. Only up from here....

I think Flores miscalculated by not switching to sim pressure plus zone. Our passing offense has been confounded by it. Instead he went about his business as usual, blitz and man coverage, which we know how to handle.

Don’t interrupt the opposition while they are making a mistake…

Personally, I think Barkley is a bit off both mentally and physically. Just mere speculation. The OL is more off though. I don’t watch film or anything but Steen must be an obvious downgrade in the run game. Dickerson is clearly playing hurt and now Jurgens could miss some time.

Barkley is too good of a player to only be averaging 3 ypc. Perhaps this big passing day from Hurts will allow the offense to see fewer loaded boxes.

Either way, I think the most important upgrade right now needs to be on the IOL. Zeitler from Tennessee or one of the Browns’ IOL should be available.,

Stepping away from the Hurts discussion…

I think the defense was pretty meh. We were aided by an overturned TD (correctly) and a TD negated by a hold (incorrectly IMO), not to mention an errant snap on third and 10 at the 19. Who knows what happens if the snap was good, but we certainly didn’t earn a stop on that down). We got a pick six on a well-designed blitz, and that matters obviously, but I didn’t see much from the pass rush (mostly ineffective while losing discipline). The coverage wasn’t great. The tackling was poor, especially from Campbell and Mukuba.

Hurts stats were fantastic and he really came through with his play in the 2nd half, but I still find his some of his play to be puzzling at times, today and throughout the season so far.

For most of the season Hurts has done some things we always knock him for. When he has time to pass he has a tendency to hang onto the ball too long. And its not a one time thing. He continues to do this for stretches. Its as if his first read is covered, he panics, but doesnt take off or throw the ball away; he uneasily shuffles in the closing pocket and takes the sack. There’s never been a clearly defined reason for why this happens, but its happened more than usual at this point in the season. I understand its a new OC, a dinged up O-line, and sometimes the opposition is covering well, but he seems to be taking some sacks for no reason some times. In a few of those situations, the line provides good protection and gives him plenty of time, but he stubbornly holds off till its too late. We’ve seen him run when its not there; spies or not, he gets out of there and gets a couple yards or throws it away. Hes not doing that, and at this stage of his career you’d think he’d know better.

This is just an observation, and in no way does it mean Hurts is regressing, or not as good as some believe him to be. He’s efficient, exciting, athletic, strong, and plays big in big moments. Hes a champion. He just wins…etc. But he can be frustrating and I’d like to see him minimize those sacks by making quicker decisions at times.

Knees gonna run cmc into ground

They definitely need help at interior OL. Toth/Pryor isn't working out. The starters were getting push and opening holes on that firat drive. Then, Jergens went out and so did the running game

Jalen got his deep ball accuracy back, which is critical to our success. We’re having a hard time maintaining drives w/o a running game and when defenses can squat on the short stuff it gets ugly quick.

I thought they were solid, but a far cry from last years #1 defense. Some is injuries. Some is the talent we let walk.

Im afraid they sign Graham tomorow, and get Smith back from IR and figure thats enough to pass on opportunities to trade for a Chubb, or Johnson.

Hopefully, theyll still make a move at CB2.

Is Cam possibly done for the year? I saw someone mention IR

Not sure what you mean by blitz and man coverage. Most of his pressures are fire zones or variations of c4 (palms) or c3 (sky). Unless you're referring to c0 pressures but I only saw a few of them today, not a heavy dose.

I asked during the week what the analytics were on Campbell cause his coverage analytics were awesome. Imo of kind of think Vic thinks Dean is a better run defender at the moment then Campbell.

No one hates seeing the Eagles win & Hurts play great more than supposed Eagles fans who's entire personality is hating their team's QB.

Hurts didn't play great. It was all the defense, run game, coaching, weapons, etc. Also, Carson Wentz was better.

The run game schematically at least was better, more varied. We just don’t have the horses up front to execute right now at a high level and at high volume. Dickerson hasn’t been good this year. Hopefully he will get healthier and back to his pro bowl level. Jurgens has struggled too coming off back surgery. Steen has been our best interior OL, and he’s maybe at best a solid starter.

Yup - much has been made about the offense, but the defense is pretty far from rushing 4 and playing C3/4 every play. Vic is taking a lot of risks to make up for the lack of pass rush and to hide CB2.

The reactions in here are a lot more negative than I thought they'd be. I thought that game was okay lol.

Hurts hitting on a few big passes really is lipstick on a pig. It sounds silly to complain or point out negatives about a win when WR1 and WR2 had 300 combined yards and 3 TDs, but...

The offense can't run the ball. The routes the WR are running are still pure garbage. The ball goes to 11, 6, 88 on a comeback or for some reason they still love the behind the LOS pass to 26 for an automatic 5 yard loss. There's no reason to have WR3-5 on the team. Bigsby finally gets a run, gets 11 yards and then they don't go back to him for 3 quarters.

This offense is so bad, so predictable and just so boring.

What does C3 turn into against a go route?

It’s clear that Dean sees it and triggers quickly. Campbell hesitates a half-step and despite his speed it costs him.

Closing out a game was huge…we haven’t seen that this year really. The O let the D play loose the last 1/3 of the game.
