Jakorian Bennett is better than Ringo, so hopefully he's healthy now that he's eligible to come off IR.

I'd give Nolan another 2 weeks as this team desperately needs him to be healthy to have any long term shot.

It looks like his struggles are with adapting to the speed of the NFL. He slows down to break down for the tackle, and next thing you know, Jefferson is gone up the sideline and Mukuba never even gets a hand on him. He looks a bit unsure of himself and needs to just start running through the tackle.

Same with the first big, really ugly coverage bust where the WR ends up behind him and he just flails an arm out there hoping to tip the ball. I feel like hes not realizing how quickly things can happen out there in the NFL.

That makuba missed tackle was atrocious not just that he missed the tackle but that he failed to force him inside where the help is, letting him get down the sideline is a carnal sin, gotta force him inside.

Moving on...I still have a bad taste in my mouth after the antics of the Giants game. Those two rookies running their yaps, flexing, running without shirts after the game etc...yes they played a much more physical game and deserved the win...but the antics were over the top. I feel they completely blew their wad in one game. I hope the Eagles send a loud message to them this week about championship football and winning with grace. Their loss yesterday was somewhat satisfying, but I want Jalen Carter or Jordan Davis to really smack someone. I am also rooting for Nakobe Dean to pop through a gap to stick Skateboo. I felt Dart was in trouble in the backfield on multiple occasions but guessed correctly each time in escaping...not this Sunday. The Eagles need to come out and just shut everything down....

The ball wasn't designed for AJ. They kept 8 guys in coverage and somehow only had a safety on AJ on that side of the field meaning 7 guys were clogging up everything else. In many ways Flores read exactly what the Eagles were trying to do and called a great D. BUT Hurts had so much time with 3 guys rushing that he and AJ did what they did so it becomes bad D.

Precisely my point. It’s a got to have it play and we had AJ Brown doing nothing and providing zero value to the play design. Think players, not plays, right?

The factors lined up for one of those "any given Sunday" games. The Giants won their Super Bowl, and the Eagles took a hit due to injuries and coming off a short week from the Broncos loss and just had a bad game all around. Every team in the league has losses to a team they should have beat. And each season under Siri they've had slow starts and everyone questioning what they're doing. Last year there were concerns (naturally) coming off the 2023 collapse. And then they got themselves together, made adjustments and played their best football toward the end of the season. The team is built to win and they are their own worst enemy. They have to overcome and execute the way they are capable. And it's a lot of different aspects. Fundamentals like tackling, mental mistakes like penalties or returning kicks, route running, picking up the blocks, etc.

My guess would be it's designed to be a quick hitter to Devonta or Goedert and if that's not that there AJ is supposed to release for a go ball. Maybe I'm giving too much credit tho

yup...there was a play yesterday where the broadcast showed the behind the QB perspective in real time. You can see four receivers literally running to the DB's and standing by them as if to shake their hands or something. There was absolutely no one open...what kind of play design has the receiver running to the defender and giving himself up. And of course, Hurts looks indecisive and is stuck trying to make a little out of nothing. It's insanity...

You are preaching to the choir...the Eagles have always laid an egg once in a while, but they rarely if ever get out-physical led and bullied. The effort was the issue and the obnoxious chest pounding which makes this game different. That is just not ok...the Eagles won't need any incentive to show up this Sunday. I think it is best for the Giants to keep a low profile this week...

Carter hit the same exact swim move on the pick 6 yesterday as his sack on Stafford in the playoff game last season. That move is like his haymaker.

Its the same BS 2×2 route cobo Patullo has been running all year, mirror routes on each side where one guy runs a go other guy runs a curl.

In this case Brown on far side runs a curl, with goedert in slot running a go then opposite side smitty in slot runs a curl and ditson runs a go

The D knew it was coming cause when its 2×2 on 3rd down patullo has consistently run that route combo, you can see the D sit on all the routes, only reason it works this time is because AJ and hurts play backyard ball.

Part of me wonders if it was actually designed tuat way as Patullo set it up hoping the D would key on the predictability then slow play it and when they bite hit it over the top.

Even if you watch smith on his route he does the same as brown, he comes off the ball delayed and then just kind of runs a lazy curl route, so im wondering if it was some sort of window dressing or the WRs know its crap routes that the DBs are sitting on so why bother.🤷‍♂️

I still suspect Dotson was open immediately, just have to see where that other safety was. But he won so fast, its hard to imagine there wasnt going to be a big window to put that ball in to between the zones.

It looks like AJ was purposely blocking, and Smith kinda looks like he was too. I wondered if the WRs were running some RPO play, but the whole OL all pass blocked so... seems like offense not all on the same page with the call.

I think 11 wins will probably win the NFC BEAST this year. I do not believe the GMen will get to double digits. The Boys will have to go 7-3 over the next 10 games to get to 10. Washington also would have to go 7-3 to get to 10. The Eagles just have to go 6-4 over the next 10 and they would finish with 11 wins. The Eagles also play the Cowboys again and Washington twice.

Winning the division will be nice, but not good enough this year. We need the #1 seed, which means a minimum of 13 wins most likely.

That means we can only afford 2 more losses.

I see us beating NYG next week to get to the bye at 6-2. Green Bay is overrated and it's after the bye, but it will be hard to win there. Detroit is good but we have them at home. Win all 3 of those games and we'll be in good shape at 8-2.

I think you’re giving too much credit for the Brown portion of it. Hurts pointed at him to go deep after his "route” was covered up.

You'd have to go through these threads but I said the exact thing at the beginning of the season when everyone was looking at the schedule. The whole NFC East was playing the AFC West and NFC North which are brutal. Yes the Eagles have some harder games due to winning the NFC East last year but I said it a bunch of times that 11-6 would win the division.

And yes, we'd all love another Super Bowl victory...I get it. But they are hard to come by as evidenced by my first fing 50 years or so on this planet. We now have 2! Enjoy this time!

Washington has Chiefs next week. The Boys have the Broncos. We have a rematch with the GMen coming off that epic collapse. Eagles have a chance at going 3 games up next week. Now the Conference us a different story. I think it's going to be 12-13 wins for the Conference.

1 on 1 he’s impossible to stop. We desperately need another edge to help take some of those double teams away from him or open it up for a quality edge to get pressures/sacks. We don’t have that right now

Oh yeah I didn't address those parts of your post but I agree. The rookies were way too cocky. The Eagles defense got dominated physically and that can't happen again. I expect the next game to be very different.

Carter, Davis, Dean and others were getting more penetration and pressure yesterday. As guys get healthy and shake off those losses - yesterday was a good start - they'll get back to doing what they do. The Giants rookies need a welcome to the NFL moment with our defense.

The lack of Carter playing and/or playing near 100% has been a bigger issue than discussed.

I was just posting about the conference as you replied. I agree 13 wins for the #1 seed. We already got the tiebeakers over Rams and Tampa. As you said beating Greenbay and Detroit will be a must for tiebreakers. Cowboys, Bears and Washington will be fighting for wild cards. Bills will be fighting. The Raiders will be the only team in the 2nd half that will be out of it. They need to beat the GMen get to 6-2. Then there's a Three-Tier Gauntlet in which if they go 2-1 at worst over each. They finish 12-5. So they have to go 3-0 somewhere to get to 13 wins.

Gauntlet 1: @ Pack, Vs Lions, @ Cowboys. Gauntlet 2: Vs Bears, @ Chargers Vs Raiders. Gauntlet 3: @ Washington @Bills Vs Washington

Yeah he was playing like his old self yesterday. Jordan Davis was quietly having a very solid game despite not much on the stat sheet. I kept seeing him and Carter crashing their line. Dean healthy and in the lineup was immediately making plays, great to see him out there. Mitchell had to play, they just need him but he wasn't 100%. We've seen with the guys on the O line having injury issues what that does. Nolan Smith hasn't been playing. Getting guys healthy coming out of the bye will be key for the rest of the season.

I think too much gets made of players calling for plays. These are plays that have been practiced and are in the playbook. They aren't designing the plays on the fly. I'm sure they call for plays all the time

1 hour ago, ManuManu said:

Can’t see what Devonta is doing at the bottom of the screen, but what is this play call and what is the purpose of having that route be run by AJ? What kind of effort is that on the route?

It's more than the routes. I am not sure what the motion does but it certainly doesn't help anyone get open. I am not sure what the advantage of a condensed formation is if it doesn't at least create some natural picks when there is man coverage.

What was the route AJ was supposed to be running? It looks like an out route. It's not a curl because he turns outside and not inside. It almost looks like it was supposed to be a dig route but he looks like he was just trying to box out the defender. My thought is the first read was to Goedert and then Barkley in the flat. AJ and Hurts turned it into something it was not designed to be.

Yep we need to get this win and get to the bye. The team that emerges from the bye will determine the season but that could go any direction and we just won't know until we see it

The Jefferson miss was as much mental as physical. Mukuba should’ve leveraged his approach/tackle from the outside since he had help coming in from the LB (Campbell iirc). Yes, breakdown and make the tackle but as the last line of defense he has to minimize the chance of the big play.

In coverage he’s focused on the QB, but once a receiver enters his zone some man principles kick in, where he needs to respond to how the route is shaded or more quickly to what is happening at the stem. It’s not easy looking through the WR/TE and still tracking where the QB is going, but this is valuable experience.

He needs to play faster and be more aggressive to the ball. DeJean should be his mentor for open field tackles
