While I thought we had the QB answer with Wentz the truth is there was no prime Wentz, there was flash in the pan Wentz. It was a tremendous flash, but that's all it was. Honestly, for all we know, he may have crumbled under the playoff pressure. He certainly has never shown he can handle pressure nor adversity.

Never the same player after the knee injury and then getting shell shocked the year the entire OL went down to injury.

One thing that I think needs to be acknowledged with Graham…

In his return, he is not going to be an edge rusher. He will not add one ounce of juice to the pass rush (hasn’t everyone watched him for the last 2 years?!) That shouldn’t even need to be argued. But he is strong and tenacious. He’s here to be an edge setter.

This may help with the running game IF he defies the odds and has something left in the tank. It’s not going to help the pass rush. I’d be pleasantly surprised if he gets a single coverage sack all year.

i do think Graham should be close to the player he was last season assuming he has stayed in shape. I think he's a depth player that you hope can come in and make a few productive plays.

Vikings fans really think this is the same?

Yes, the refs were definitely in the Eagles' back pocket.

He looked good after the knee injury. IIRC the timeline…2018, entire OL got injured and he broke his back. 2019, team was crumbling…still lots of injuries. Greg Ward #1 WR and Clowney?

Couldn’t scramble the same way after the knee but the year with the OL injuries really broke him.

A busted play, miscommunication by the S’s and a blatant OPI.

Ringo’s issues are death by 1000 cuts though. He’s doing all the small things wrong.

Ringo has issues but the issues aren't that he's getting beat deep. Defending go routes is probably is biggest strength. What he lacks is hip flexibility and that makes it hard for thim to adjust to routes. In order for him to improve, he has to know what is coming. If he can get to a point where he knows what the route concept is he will be a better CB. His other issue is tackling where he often seems to play himself out of position.

So we are just above average in most of the analytics. It's a combination of outstanding play offset by periods of miserable play.

The offense needs to get the run game going to add some consistency. The explosive plays are great, but can't be relied upon every game.

The defense, IMO, needs a more consistent pass rush. It will help protect our CB2 issue and likely bump up our takeaways. BG is a start.

Like last season, the bye seems to be coming at the right time.

I agree. Going back for BG whilst is an emotional decision that will probably benefit both parties, its basically an admission of guilt by howie and the coaching staff that they've messed up and don't have enough at that position.

Failure to draft/sign a proven edge whilst losing BG and sweat, huff, reddick is a definite mistake,

We have guys on IR and one retired. Seriously, what are you guys talking about? Are you all just programmed to be pessimistic about everything?

BG was playing really well last year, he may have been our most effective DE. This is nothing but a positive.

BG was having a phenomenal game at LA last season before he tore his triceps.

Our edge rushers suck. He’s only a slight upgrade but an upgrade is an upgrade.

Maybe he won’t be an upgrade at all but who cares. He’s taking snaps from players who are proven to be jags.

Exactly. There's no downside to this at all

It started as "oh it was a storybook ending, he should ride off into the sunset"...and now it's revisionist history saying he was playing poorly or is washed up.

agreed. i don't see any negative with this, especially considering the situation the team is currently in regarding edge rushers.

Agreed. With that said vested veteran contracts signed after Week One are week to week . If they were on the Week One roster their contract is for the full season and they are paid the full season amount if cut. Contracts signed after Week One terminate immediately if the player is cut. Guaranteed money is paid according to the terms of the guarantee.

Sure, but this isn’t Linval Joseph. This is the longest tenured Eagle in franchise history coming out of retirement. He’s going to have most if not all of his contract guaranteed.

Thanks to all the retired numbers, Brandon Graham is going to come back and have to take something stupid in the 50's

Really? Isn't getting your old locker back enough compensation?

Seriously Howie was working with a very limited budget with the future in mind and made some bets that didn't work. Can they be discussed critically? Of course. But it feels like every player that doesn't work out or every drive that doesn't produce points or even an incomplete pass is treated like it's an egregious offense these days.

Majority of the fan base is getting spoiled. Howie had some all time offseasons in 2022 and 2024 so that's now the standard.

It's the same thing as people talking about this O-line and all the injuries when there has been one game missed by one starter. Even with guys going out early in some games it's nothing compared to the Cowboys, Bucs, Vikings, Chargers or other teams.

The reasons it's not a total desperation move and why it won't tarnish BG's legacy:

  • BG planned on making last season his final season. Then he missed most of it with injury. Came back to play at the end, and felt he still had more in the tank

  • He wrestled with the retirement decision and was second guessing himself, he even said so on the New Heights podcast that he thought about returning for another season

  • Howie reached out to him at the beginning of the season - not like it was last week - to see if he had interest

  • He's supposedly kept himself in shape and been working out for a month (we'll see how he looks)

  • Howie signed Za'Darius Smith off the street so they already tried to address the needs that way

  • BG may not play many snaps, and one part-time season won't tarnish a long career.

  • If nothing else, he brings experience to the meeting room, helping review film and prepare, and a vocal leader to lift up and bring energy to the team

  • Any positive plays he may make will be welcomed, obviously you just don't want a liability out there but Fangio won't let that happen

Worst case scenario is that he can't play well anymore, gets injured again and gave it a try and it didn't work. He will at least have brought veteran presence to the defensive meeting room and practice, and for his own sake can say he gave it another try to see what was left in the tank.

Now, if BG plays really well and then Nolan Smith comes back and the unit is playing well, maybe they don't need to trade for another player but I'd still like to see them try. Get Chubb.

This. The locker room seemed fine. They lose 2 games and now it’s a problem. Lol. People

These are all of the long TD's against the Eagles this season. Ringo wasn't involved in any of them.

He had 2 PIs against the Gmen that put them on the 1 yard line on deep balls

Why is everyone pretending that BG wasn't playing really well last year?

He had 3.5 sacks in 11 games. He was playing as strong and physical as ever.

He averaged 5 sacks per year over a 15 year span. He is what he is. A great personality, average player. BUT now he’s old

Exactly! Exceptions like Barkley and Baun are now the expectation. Starter-quality backup OL are unicorns.

Howie could miss on his next two first round picks and still be better than most GMs in the league. Him being solid in his status here let's him make the decisions that properly weigh the future.
