We're over here complaining after a SB win and starting 5-2. Meanwhile:

I feel terrible for that kid. Many of us know that feeling of thinking it will never happen.

I was thrilled to finally get the satisfaction of the Super Bowl in 2017.

Even more thrilled that my son got to see one last year and won't ever have to feel like this kid.

We are suddenly spoiled.

Went to his IG post, the 2nd slide is a video of some boxer (or MMA fighter? I don't know who it is) screaming and ranting how he's built different and you have to "come kill me" if you want to beat me.

He looked unhappy after his big 3rd down catch. He had 121 yards and 2 TDs in a win.

It's one thing to vent if you're losing or not getting the ball. But that's silly.

He's a f'ing idiot.

Whenever it becomes financially feasible to do so, Howie will take a trade offer for AJ Brown. Thanks for all you've done, part ways amicably, best of luck in your next stop. Smitty, Metchie, Dotson and a future draft pick will be the WR group, hopefully a newly drafted TE prospect to go along with them.

People think Howie had a "bad" offseason because of how many players left in free agency or were traded away. That happens on a SB winning team, there are players who want to get paid, they no longer care about team and winning. Howie and Lurie both publicly said they would need to let some guys go to prepare for the future.

We complained (rightfully so) for years about the bad drafting on defense. Now they've drafted absolute studs on defense and they have a great young core...and people complain about letting the 2nd tier players go in favor of signing studs in the future. The one player I thought he should have kept because he was cheap was Rodgers but whatever. They put some faith in the backups and rookies and trusted the coaching and the core star players would be enough.

In the draft he got a stud LB with a SB winning draft position, the first LB taken in the 1st round for like 50 years or whatever it was. Got a starting safety who has growing pains but also makes plays. He is the only player in the secondary with an INT and he has 2 so far, and yeah has missed tackles but he's the 2nd best safety on the team. The rest of the draft is depth and future development which you expect with a stacked roster that just won a Super Bowl. We may look back on it being a very solid draft that continued to solidify the roster. The great news is so far the picks don't look like busts. Adding a draft like that after a series of very strong drafts is what helps keep the winning going.

The team is still a top NFL team and will compete for a SB this year, and will remain competitive in the coming years.

Howie has been great in the last several years. No doubt. But I think this offseason regarding the depth of the team has been an awful perfromance by him. Has more to do with bad choices than money. He's not gonna hit on everything. But he needs a good trade deadline or there's no Superbowl. One injury to any key player like Dickerson, Carter, Mitchell, DeJean, Davis, and that would probably cost us in playoff seating and Superbowl aspirations. Also, just need better starters in a few positions. This year's depth can't hold the fort like the past teams. When Brett Toth, Adoree Jackson, Byron Young and Kelle Ringo are getting a lot of key snaps you have a legit weakness that teams will attack. I am just keeping things real. At this point it feels like we sacrificed this year for what could be a couple years away issues regarding players who may be extended or not. These things tend to work themselves out. My mentality has been that we gotta go all in this year. More of a sense of urgency needed at an opportunity of a life time to repeat here. Never know when that window shuts, especially in football.

Sure, but this isn’t Linval Joseph. This is the longest tenured Eagle in franchise history coming out of retirement. He’s going to have most if not all of his contract guaranteed.

Look Julian, your dad can afford it.

Majority of the fan base is getting spoiled. Howie had some all time offseasons in 2022 and 2024 so that's now the standard.

It's the same thing as people talking about this O-line and all the injuries when there has been one game missed by one starter. Even with guys going out early in some games it's nothing compared to the Cowboys, Bucs, Vikings, Chargers or other teams.

The fan expectations and demands are through the roof and have gotten worse the past three years. A lot of that is because of a strong bandwagon contingency that has joined the fanbase. I think most on here are old enough to remember the McNabb/Reid teams and teams before those ones in the 90s, 80s, or earlier. It’s important to recognize and pause for a moment to acknowledge that we are in the golden age of Eagles football right now. Last year’s team was the greatest in franchise history. And that doesn’t last forever so appreciate it now because in five or ten years, who knows where they’ll be.

I think there’s a fine balance between being frustrated and wanting things to be different, and that’s fair because this year’s team is far from perfect. The special teams drive me insane, the run blocking is awful, and the offensive coordinator runs an elementary scheme. But this team has earned our trust and we owe it to them to trust that they’ll figure it out. Hurts doesn’t need to be benched for McKee after a bad game, AJ doesn’t need to be traded because he gets emotional, Howie isn’t going to hit on every single move, and rookies take time to develop.

They’re 5-2 right now, leading the division, and have ten games left to play. Let’s just see how it plays out and hope for the best. This was right around the time last year where that team found its footing and put it together.

I agree with your overall point, but the only reason it's only been one game missed is because we've made or let Dickerson and Jurgens start the season dinged up and play through games they probably should've sat out for the long term benefit of them and the team.

Also while pro bowl quality back ups may be like hens teeth and rocking horse turds, back up linemen better than Brett Toth aren't, he's played more snaps this year so far than any other complete year in his career and it's exposed him. I don't rate Pryor as a tackle but he was good enough to start at guard for two other NFL Teams which makes him better than Toth or hell even stick big Fred in there. They must have high hopes for Lampkin.

Part of me thinks AJ is just trolling everyone and another part of me thinks he has some mental health/depression issues that he needs to seek help for

It’s WR1 behavior for better or worse. If guys like TO and Randy Moss had social media 20 years ago we would have seen the same thing. Just makes me appreciate and respect DeVonta’s demeanor more and more because if anyone has a right to be upset and want to be involved more, it’s him.

The number one priority going into the off-season was re-signing Baun. He extended Jurgens and Barkley. If you look around the league at other free agent signings, it's not like there were a lot of options. They weren't going to bring back Sweat or Milton Williams. Slay got $10 million guaranteed from the Steelers. I think they would have brought back Rodgers and they may have flubbed that one but I think the other signings were reasonable given the options.

He has been public about his mental health issues, depression, and past suicidal thoughts. Even going back to his days with the Titans. He started a clothing line to raise awareness for mental health and wore the "check on your teammates" jacket a few weeks ago. He may be the type to impulsively post something on social media looking for attention or validation or something, and should use restraint. Having a game with 2 TDs and 120 yards should be a good thing, especially with a win breaking a 2 game losing streak.

It also comes down to how the team feels about him. How is he as a teammate and in the locker room? They made him a captain. Siri seems to be able to manage all the personalities (he himself gets unprofessional and taunts and all that kind of stuff too). They have Big Dom as the handler for things. So maybe they aren't bothered by it or decide to just manage it and deal with it because of his talent. It's common with WRs the "diva" stereotype and there are other WRs around the league that act out. Eventually they wear out their welcome and change teams. I can see them moving on from him once it's financially feasible, but hopefully it's more of a mutual parting ways with respect and wishing luck.

Smitty better retire an Eagle, don't let him leave the building!

I think one of Becton or Williams needs to be signed with everyone else that left. Didn't happen. So I had issues with that. Games are won in the trenches and he knows that full well. Also, Kinnard and Booker, cheap young talented depth is a gross mishandling of team depth there. Counting on Ringo and Adoree also was bad work. Of course we know Rodgers was right there. Lotta little things adding up. The misuse of draft picks has been alarming as well. Hording them only to give them away in insignificant deals. We could use these right now. Although still have 10 left. I'm giving him the trade deadline to right this. Still a chance...

Even though Barkley deserves the money extending him just after 1 year, seemed a bit premature. And even said it then with Jurgens, that we should wait on giving Jurgens the bag, til you see about his back.

He did talk about wanting to take his own life so depression/mental health issues are probably present.

Yeah, trading Kinnard is another one I don't get. You are right about Booker as well. If JB turns out to be decent then OK, but they could have used depth there as well. MB is a big miss that I don't get with how much they value the lines. He was all pro level so getting that again at 10 million would have been a no brainer in my mind even with Steen there. I don't get that one at all especially when you consider he was willing to pay Smith almost that to play edge. Both are valuable spots but if it was just about saving cap space to roll into next year it doesn't make sense.

He's a great WR but if he's still cryptically ****ing after 121 and 2 TD's, I feel like we're at most an offseason away from driveway sit ups.

I can't recall a single Devonta Smith social media post, give me that all day every day.

DeVonta Smith just glazes the Celtics.

That's bad enough but at least it's not cryptic or have to do with the Eagles.

Think Howie was too into hording draft picks and literally forgot about this roster for 2025, he's been good at the draft but need vets to balance things out. Leaders like Kelce, Fletch and Graham were good for the young guys in defining the Eagles culture. Probably why Graham is coming back now. Just went too far with tinkering here for me. I felt that way this offseason. Too many new players. Could have kept a few more.

Becton doesn't make Dickerson or Jurgens healthier or Lane a year younger. The line is a combination of all the players rather than just Steen being in there rather than Becton, even Mailata has had some god awful snaps this year.

A part of it could be players conquering the mountain once and being happy to rest on their laurels rather than trying to get up there again, not consciously but it's just knocked that .05 of a percent off their effort that's the difference between elite and not.

No thanks. He's approaching the twilight of his prime.

Right now his talents still outweigh his baggage, barely.

But it won't be very long before that flips. Get whatever value you still can at the end of this year and move on.

We have guys on IR and one retired. Seriously, what are you guys talking about? Are you all just programmed to be pessimistic about everything?

BG was playing really well last year, he may have been our most effective DE. This is nothing but a positive.

I started with a positive, and i love BG as much as the next guy, but he was injured for 1/2 last season is 37 and definately wasn't our most effective DE.

He played 13 snaps in the superbowl when the game was done and before that it was nearly 11 months ago.

I really hope it works out but i thought he left on a high and should probably have not come back. If it works out then great!

One thing that I think needs to be acknowledged with Graham…

In his return, he is not going to be an edge rusher. He will not add one ounce of juice to the pass rush (hasn’t everyone watched him for the last 2 years?!) That shouldn’t even need to be argued. But he is strong and tenacious. He’s here to be an edge setter.

This may help with the running game IF he defies the odds and has something left in the tank. It’s not going to help the pass rush. I’d be pleasantly surprised if he gets a single coverage sack all year.

It has been said that Chris Long’s two years with the Eagles can be seen as BG’s ceiling for this year. One key plus with BG is that he can be productive boy inside and on the Edge. Having him as the outside when Fangio goes with a 3-3-5 should be a plus … giving Nolan or Jalyx a breather.
