I'll have to get Howie on here to give you the exact proposal.

I 100% believe Howie tried, even if just to drive the price up for others. You could structure the contract to afford him, and you always try to get an all pro in his mid 20s. Every GM should have tried.

PTSD from Owens in 2005 is my guess.

I think "Everyone" happens to just be RTK.

Me neither, yet I've witnessed it here consistently with people wanting to get rid of Hurts. Not only before this past game where he became only the 3rd QB in franchise history to have a game with a perfect QB rating, but during it and after too.

I don't really care about QB rating

I admire him for always going for it like that. I am just hoping he pulls off something in here in the next week or two. I'd be shocked if he doesn't make at least one impact deal. Maybe two. This team constructed today feels like it's hanging by a thread and needs too much to go right to get to the Big Game. Just the feel of it right now. The hunger and urgency level of this season is just missing a bit here. Can still change....

Well you don't care about Super Bowls or wins either apparently. The only thing Jalen Hurts can ever do to ever seem to give you people any joy around here is to play bad and lose so you have something to celebrate over.

The best QB rating? W-L. It’s really that simple. Especially in the post-season.

Strange leap you made but it's not surprising. You go into full throttle attack mode if you sense someone isn't praising Hurts

Saying I don't care about a stat people created doesn't mean I like or dislike Hurts though rolleyes

on Aj, he is a smart person. I think the overlooked issue in this is AJ’s future contract whether here or somewhere else in 2027. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s already looking at 2027 as he’s negotiating for a new contract (or next offseason negotiating for an extension know he has basically got little guarantee $ in 2027) with another team. He has $4 million in guaranteed money for 2027.

Imo in his mind if he knows his production declining from 2023 to 2024 to 2025 to 2026 is going to be used against him at the negotiating table. It’s going to hurt him even if it isn’t necessarily him being a declining player. Along with the fact in 2027, he’s gonna be 30 and with the way he plays the position (had some durability issues with titans and now with eagles). Those are things that are going to be used against him.

So there’s part of me that understands where he is coming from as it’s potentially sizable loss of money down the road and likely his last big payday. He only has so much time in the NFL with how he plays and at his position to cash in. He’s probably looking at 2027 or next offseason when asking for more guaranteed money/reworking his contract as his last big payday.

I’m not saying he’s right or wrong for thinking that way or viewing it that way. however i think this is setting up for this offseason where he’s going to ask for more guaranteed money/rework his deal or asking to allow him to seek a trade to try and get an extension from another team while doing so.

That's rich coming from the guy who does nothing but exactly what I was banned for on the original EMB over the reasons of "trolling".

You never stopped. Might be gone again one day.

Might have to trade Davis to a team that will

Give him an extension

Cant imagine he will play on the 5th yr option

If he doesn't play, he doesn't hit free agency.

So it's Toth at center, Dotson at WR2 and Hunt/Uche/Johnson/Campbell at edge...guess APR gets elevated. And Carter/Ojomo play some edge.

Really trying to squeak one out before the bye it seems.

EDIT: Dear God...Ringo is starting.

Darius Cooper may be elevated and play outside.

It is early but we drafted Mukuba over Xavier Watts and Jonas Sanker. Gonna have to play out but as of now, not looking to swell. Watts was just nominated rookie of the month.

Right. We’re doomed. He’s a bum. Beaten out by a nomination. All the returns are in.

Salary cap.

I understand we've been used to the consistency of Jason Kelce for years at center. Not only was he one of the best centers in NFL history, but he managed to play his last 9 seasons without missing a game. We drafted his replacement, and when healthy, Jurgens is a very good center himself --- maybe even sooner than Kelce was (career-wise). Unfortunately, Jurgens may not be as durable as Kelce turned out to be and we'll likely need to have a backup ready to play from time to time. On a team with several premium players and a few blue-chip players on rookie contracts approaching extension consideration, we can't allocate a lot of cap resources on the backup center. That means it's a position where we'll usually have developmental prospects on cheap, rookie contracts since our starter is young and under contract for a few years.

We need to start acknowledging that we can't have a team full of pro-bowl caliber backups ready whenever there is an injury.

Toth, while certainly a drop-off from our starter, is currently our best choice to step in now. Kendall might be the guy at a later date, but Stoutland is only going to make that call when he feels it is time. This week, Toth has had the practice week to prepare for the start, unlike last week --- maybe he'll play better than you think. Some might prefer to shift Dickerson to center, but he's not even 100% and might need to be replaced. Then we'd be bringing in a cold replacement again.

At the end of the day, this is exactly why Toth is here, why Stoutland has kept him around, and part of the team's plan in the event of injury.

Superb analysis. Beat me to it and said it better than I could. To expand, Toth may not be very good player but he knows how to play center; he knows the calls, he’s seen the blitzes, splits, stunts, etc. not as well as Kelce but better than a rookie. The center’s job is a ****. The folks who blow Toth off are demonstrating a certain level of ignorance. Who better? Dickerson at center is a bad trade off. Now you suck at LG. But, then again, there are some folks here who claim to know better than Stout. I’m sure they do, as do we all. I should make a list to salute them but I don’t feel like embarrassing them. They’re just having a bad day.

Im afraid Hurts will turtle up as he usually does when missing just 1 of his weapons. Such a big part of his game is heaving prayers to AJ.

Hurts has yet to elevate a receiver not named AJ Brown or DeVonta Smith. And those guys would put up numbers on 31 other teams. It’s been my biggest criticism on Hurts. I don’t expect Dotson to put up massive numbers, but Hurts needs to at least make him look somewhat like he has a pulse.

I troll by supporting our young franchise QB that has taken the team to 2 Super Bowls in 4 seasons and won 1 as well as Super Bowl MVP and currently has the team at 5-2 after a great passing game on the road to give them the 2nd best record in the league nearly halfway through the season.

Defense won that SB

Ok Im done ph34r

Yes. We are well aware.

I understand it's frustrating for the fans and sometimes for the players. But, I'm sorry, it absolutely is a huge advantage for the Giants' preparation to know AJ Brown isn't playing.

How could it not be an advantage to have that critical information??? Any explanation, other than "trust me, bro?"

Giants were likely to gameplan what they did two weeks ago and what every other team has done. Shut down the run. Yea, they have some benefit for them preparing for Brown. But when you still have Smith, Goedert, Barkley and Hurts with his running, how much of your game plan actually changes?

Also, I’m sure on the second day he didn’t practice the Giants considered the possibility and likely shifted planning. So it again minimizes the impact.

Dotson should get some targets. He's shown he can make some plays if given the chance. It's just Hurts needs to get him the ball.

I expect Goedert to get at least 10 targets as well.

Probably gonna see more Campbell at Edge given all the players out.

Really hope Nakobe Dean makes a big impact in the run defense too.

The way the Giants like to run, I'd rather see Ojomo at DE.

Precisely. Nothing less will do. And even he isn’t immune from spin.
