I never want a trade for trade's sake. Howie's in-season trades have turned out pretty horribly over the years. The last good one was Ajayi, and I don't think there's a second positive example, especially when weighed against the cost of acquisition. Tank Bigsby is fast approaching the second best... and that means Howie can find RBs to plug in, but seemingly no one else. Not surprising, as RBs are much more 'plug and play' than most other positions.

I don't think you have been watching the games. Davis has been on the field for 64% of the team's 523 Defensive snaps, as well as a significant number of Special Teams snaps. He has multiple sacks, key TFLs, a blocked FG. What more do you want?

Edge is the 2nd biggest need because DL, even Nolan Smith when he was playing have not gotten enough pressure, do not finish sacks when they get there, and have been light in the pants against the run. Getting Smith back does not solve the issues that were present while he was still on the field. Nor should we pass on a trade because of Brandon Graham, who will likely line up inside as much or more than outside.

I wouldn't spend big on an edge but Chubb is perfect. Bigger body edge to help with the run, and also would be the most productive Sack guy on our line this year. Chubb is also likely cheaper to acquire than a starting CB.

I remain ever hopeful for Bennett. I don't think a better CB2 option would be available. I could be wrong, but I don't see the fire sales happening that others are predicting right now.

davis has put in the work to get better and along the weight loss, it definitely shows.

The problem with that play is the KR goes through the lane Brown creates with his tomfoolery to get an extra 5-6 yards. He's not going to make a tackle by high-jumping over the blocker and he loses gap integrity, which is crucial on kick coverage.

Not a big issue because the KR was tackled, but what if he makes the next man miss and goes for a TD?

I believe having Toth instead of Jurgens proved to be a blessing. Toth's deficiencies as a shotgun snapper meant they had a higher proportion of under center snaps ... with clean snaps back to Hurts. In addition, Toth's lack of imposing physicality was/is less of a drawback at Center than it is at Guard. As a result the overall execution of the Line was improved, and the blocking of Fred Johnson as the inline TE added to that improved execution.

It appeared that they also were willing to pull the center to the outside more with Toth than with Jurgens - possibly reflecting Cam not being at 100% this season.

My argument all along which most people are missing is that having a dominant line of Carter, Williams, Ojomo and Davis by itself, makes the defense bullet proof. For the next 2 years. That's it. After that, we know you lose 2 out of 4 of those and you get to repeat and 3peat in the interim. There's a cost of may be losing one guy we love, but that would be a couple years away and you have time to prepare for that. Q, Coop & JC are the cornerstones. And we should be able to lock up regardless, if Howie chooses. This was a choice to make. Pay now or pay later. I was looking at the next 2 year window as being the frontrunner. Now we are just one of many in the Superbowl picture and it's a little shaky. MW contract in reality, is 2 years/51M guaranteed. I'm there. In 2 years, you would have your choice of keeping MW for years 3 & 4 or JD reupping. You would still get a potential compensatory pick for JD, then, when lost.
