We can Willie Lampkin down to 270lb and let him loose.

Dickerson might be a problem this season health wise. Would hate to do it against KC, but he might need a rest. Hopefully the 10 days off can help. But having Toth as his backup scares the crap out of me there. Pryor has to be a better option as a backup.

Should've been tonight. Shame on them. He's not making it through the season

I’m not worried about the passing game, AJ Brown, Jalen Hurts, CB2, or the defense as a whole. Those things will get sorted out.

I have one massive concern after tonight, which isn’t getting enough discussion. Last year, the Eagles identity was a smash mouth team that could run at will, end games with long drives because they just punished teams…that was the foundation of their success. They did that on the shoulders of Dickerson and Becton as the interior OL.

This offense falls apart when Dickerson and Becton become Toth and Steen. It’s not going to work. The offense and the team will go as far as their all pro LG can take them this year. The way they play football, draw up the offense, call plays……it simply isn’t going to work with Toth and Steen.

This was highlighted by their ugly 3 and out drive in which they only stopped the clock twice and gained almost zero yards. Last year, that drive is probably a relentless onslaught of 5 yard runs until the Eagles score a TD with time expiring. Instead, the DL dictated the end of that drive.

I was at the game and missed the perspective and commentary on tv. He looked gimpy the entire game. Before they finally pulled him, his inability to move was directly responsible for Barkley’s 5 yard loss. I was waiting for them to pull the plug on him all game long.

I don’t understand why he suited up, why he continued on to start after warming up before the game, and why he hobbled through the game as long as he did until the ole on the Barkley backfield hit really forced him out.

As the season progresses, Mondon will be more ready to see some snaps and Dean will be back. Over that time, I also suspect there will be growing frustrations over the pass rush.

Im very high on Smith and Hunt, but the edges behind them are awful….and those two are both young and light to not be rotated.

What I’m getting at is….I think the intersection of need, pass rush void, and increasing depth at ILB will collectively see to it that Jihaad Campbell is doing a lot of work rushing the passer from the edge later this season.

With all the penalties in the game, I don’t remember one holding call against either O-line. Not sure, but don’t remember one being called. There were lots of holds that could / should have been called, but at least they missed them on both sides.

Weren't Ojulari and Okoronkwo out injured, so we had Josh Uche and Johnson from the PS as edge rotation? I don't think the sky is falling yet, maybe give it a few games.

What bothered me were all the runs into the line on 2nd and short, some of which failed.

8 men in the box on 2nd and short screams big play. It does not have to be a dagger but maybe Goedert for 20, AJ on a slant with no one in the middle?

We all complained we didn't run slants enough last year and last nights game was a continuation, except if anything it was worse because we were only throwing between the hashes all game.

I was referring to the things happening during the plays... Carter's spitting is inexcusable. Smith's flex wasn't a penalty last year. Just celebrating a great tackle. That call was precipitated due to the spitting and the other chippiness earlier and the refs are trying to take control of

I believe it was more about him standing over the Dallas player and flexing while looking down at him. Which hasn't been allowed for a long time. That said I'm happy for the win.

The additional video that NBC decided to show of Dak spitting at Carter definitely changes my view of the situation.

It does not excuse Carter, but what a punk bish move by Prescott. And even worse to deny and play dumb when asked about it. You can criticize Jalen all you want, but at least he had enough character to take accountability. Dak did not because he’s a C.

This should not have resulted in an ejection. It should have been an unsportsmanlike, with the possibility of ejection for a second. If there was going to be an ejection, it should have been both of them, but of course it wasn’t. It was the same soft as goose turd ref that tossed CJGJ.

Losing Carter for that game changed things drastically, but I was equally concerned that the NFL would suspend him for more future games.

I’m convinced now that we have the full story, that should eliminate any future suspension at least.

Against stacked boxes they are going to have to open up the passing game a little more. 1 completion that went more than 10 yards is a stifling offensive performance. They need to make teams pay for overplaying the run by throwing it over their heads.

It's early yet and patullo has a long time before the next game to adjust things.

@greend Fair enough.

You know what's funny, Jalen Hurts would NEVER do something like that and he sure as crap wouldn't insult everyone's intelligence by saying it wasn't intentional if he did. I'm glad my team's QB isn't a scumbag POS. Oh yeah, and a winner not a perennial loser.

Wholeheartedly agree.

I would also give them a slight break because it's Game 1 (they can be very weird), the weather was suboptimal and they didn't play in preseason.

Even handcuffed they moved at will until the delay. Definitely some positives, definitely things to improve.

To your point, they've got plenty of time before next week's game.

When Dallas stacked the box, they should have pulled the plays from the SB. KC did a lot of the same and JH burnt them with some downfield passes. New season and new OC, but shouldn’t mean you can’t use things that worked before.

One thing that is also worrisome already is the health of the O-line. Dickerson is definitely far from healthy and might not get there at any point in the season. Lane usually gets dinged up for a couple of games and Mailata didn’t look good at the end of the game either. This could be a real problem going forward and it’s a reason I really hoped that they could’ve kept Becton. We’re really thin if starters miss extended time.

Bennett was by far the worst player on defense.

Reed had a bad game. Ojomo was very bad. Quinyon was getting beat a ton.

Room for improvement.

Pretty sure that was Adoree Jackson, and its not close. Bennett had a bad DPI for the spot it happened, but at least he was near Lamb.

Really difficult for me to come away with any strong feelings from last night other than total disappointment with how stupid Jalen Carter was. Totally deflating moment and it clearly put the defense on their back heals.

I've got absolutely no critiques of the offensive players last night. They were absolutely humming until the freaking 1 hour delay. And then after that Patullo called the game like he was scared of his own shadow.

Swap out Jackson for Bennett, don't spit on the opposing QB before the game, and call plays like you have a pair. Eagles will win a lot of games

They looked a little clogged up after halftime too. Settling for a 58 yard FG isn't exactly the type of offense I would call 'moving at will'. And, Hurts improvisations were great... but they are not something you can rely on week to week. You want to see the offense work 'on schedule' and according to the design... or at least, I do. Then I feel they are moving at will.

It's early, and they usually take a few weeks to get it figured out, but we see that once again that they aren't connecting in the passing game to start the year.

Meanwhile, I will NEVER give the team a pass in game 1 because they CHOSE to rest the starters during the PS. That's not a 'reason' for their early struggles. That's an 'excuse'. They choose to do that. So, that's on them. If they can't figure out how to get ready for the first game without playing in the PS... then maybe they should play in the PS a little bit.

That one play Dillon ran up both Landon and Mailata’s back was the turning point offensively that gimped up the left side of the line. The rain delay likely exacerbated the problem, as those guys cooled down and got stiff. The combo of Toth-Jurgy-Steen isn’t exactly frightening for inside zone. Outside zone worked early but the DAL defense got better at pushing our interior OL into the backfield as they moved horizontally and gumming up the angles.

Especially returning 10 of 11 starters.... and Dotson as well.

Dak spit at him first so I ain’t as mad, still dumb but at least it explains things, gotta have him or defense is cooked.

Dickerson needs ro drop some weight. Dude looks fatter than ever

That was their 4th drive and their 4th consecutive drive scoring. Three of which were TDs. It really went to hell after the break. Can't ask for a whole lot more than having your team score on every possession in the first half and their first possession out of the half.

No one is saying we should depend on Hurts playing hero ball every week, but that's what was there. They left him open to take off and couldn't cover Goedert in the middle. They took advantage of it. Obviously we want to get Brown and Smith involved, but take what you're given as well.

It's week 1. The weather was crap. It's a new OC. Dickerson was broken. They have time to get it right.
