@greend how much juice do you got left to play a situational pass rush role?

The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

you're wasting keystrokes. HE hates hurts and no amount of debate will change their mind.

yeah. keystrokes dont matter nearly as much as watching him play.

As a very casual observer, I think his shortcomings can be overcome by a roster of elite hitters that never hit actually doing their jobs. He might make some dumb bullpen decisions, but the consistent lack of bullpen talent hasnt helped either. Still, the bigger issue seems to be year after year, the bats going cold and Im not sure how much blame you can really put on him for that. A new coach isnt fixing that.

And a pitching coach who handles all the moves in the post season.

Reporters that spoke to Smith this season: it's personal, it's not the Eagles.

A few guys on the EMB: Siri has lost the locker room, this team is a disaster!!!111

I don’t disagree with any this - it’s likely mostly true for a lot of players

That said, Smith retiring is about the timing and place he decided to retire. 6 games into a season when you’re actually playing relatively well - you’re the only relevant DE on the team - and knowing if you were to just quit on the spot, you would put the team in a very bad predicament.

To think that it was "just him hitting a wall” and nothing else is sort of silly, imo.

Well, he may realize that 1.5 sacks in 6 games could mean the end for his career. Id bet thats a lot less production that he thought he was capable of.

You're right.

Also, didn't know that HE is non-binary or trans. Very progressive.

I noticed that and left the CVON/Lib comments out of it. That was odd though.

Beat reporters are noting that when Smith first arrived, he had good things to say about the Eagles, his motivation and didn't give indication of plans to retire. They're framing it like it's some bait and switch. Of course any new player that signs with a team is going to state positive reasons they signed, and they're not going to share with media (in a new city they don't know yet) of their potential private thoughts about retiring. They expect him to say "well I might retire, we'll see. I'll see how it goes." rolleyes

Remember before last season, fans thought they had so many good corners that they should trade Rodgers or Ricks? Good times.

Which was correct, since they knew they wouldnt retain all of them. Would be nicer to have a pick for Rodgers than just see him walk in free agency.

I’m really starting to wonder about Fangio. He’s been fantastic for us for the most part and last season was about as good as it gets for a defense and defensive coordinator here.

That said, I’m starting to get "when things are going his way, things are great but when things start to slip, they slip fast” type of vibes.

There’s a reason he was practically booted out of Miami.

I propose a trade.

DAL gets Fangio

PHI gets Eberflus

Say when.

they say you get what you pay for. Thats gotta be an awesome flight.

Johnny Mid just knows how to hit the run it back button. Dave is safe, huh?

Damn 6 games in.

I called it. The Siri lost the locker room stuff would start by the end of the day today.

I’d throw the Titans a 4 for Roger McCreary.

Well this already made a lot of fans mad.

Well...his name is jihad.

No to Chubb either. He's in his 10th season. Before this year, he played in 87 out of 150 games possible. Guy misses nearly as many games as he plays.

What I remember is that he sounded like he was planning to play more years.

Its one thing to not share that you are going to retire right after you get this money. Its another thing to be honest that youre kind of taking it year to year like many players have. He didnt even give that impression. He seemed like he was going to keep going.

I dont think he did it just to steal some money. I bet he is hurt. Or realized his heart isnt in it quite enough anymore to deal with the wear and tear the way this season has been going. Hes getting run at by teams that have leads, and the D being on the field entirely too much. Past 3 games, with 2 in 4 days has to have been taxing on the bodies of our defense. Especially an aging vet. These game scripts are surely not what he thought he was signing up for.

But that wasnt supposed to actually mean anything! Thought he was a catholic for sure.

I mean he hurt it in the first half against the packers and didn’t return. He also was walking off the field wincing and holding his back. So there’s a chance he’s actually hurt

I didn't watch preseason, what do people think of Corner Mac McWilliams?

Was this his response to what happened in Manchester?
