This choice is essentially my life preserver toss to Jalen Hurts, if it doesn't work out - everybody should know what's next.

I am not a Hurts detractor but yes, I would say that is a fair way of putting it. PHI O has to be more dynamic with all the talent and $ invested. He is capable of a high degree of success, I do not put a lot of stock in the "new coordinator every year" excuse. You don't go from Alabama to OU with the success he had and not be able to adapt to an OC. Football is football, the spread offense has some nuances, but at the end of the day it is primarily just terminology that is different from OC to OC, the concepts and execution are similar and should be familiar to every QB that has played to this level for the last 30 years. I think it's a pretty simple approach with Hurts, get hiim an OC that can implement the scheme and terminology that allows him to process quicker, gets plays in faster so he can get a good pre-snap read, make changes as necessary and execute. I realize i am over simplifying what needs to happen but at the end of the day that really is it imo.

Just hire Foles

Man if that guy wants a job in football, he is the OC or passing game coordinator answer, especially in PHI. Question is does he want to spend that much time away from his family.

Seriously, after watching that Foles video again they need to hire him.

Also an issue. Which comes down to they needed Carter to play like we saw in 2024 especially in the playoffs.

Phillips should’ve been that guy. Or hunt or smith. imo and said at the time I’d have given hunt and davis off week 18. Both had played more snaps than they ever had.

I have a tougher time going hard after Phillips because he played 17 regular season games in a row. And then finally got a bye week in week 18. If the eagles played their guys against the commanders to get the 2 seed, he’d have gone 19 weeks in a row. That would’ve been ridiculous for any player.

With that being said. Did Howie burn another 3rd round pick at the trade deadline? 3rd round pick for 1/2 a season.

KP and Sirianni just doing things to fo them. No rhyme or reason or to set anything else up.

If he weren’t Sirianni’s best friend I’d say there’s no chance of a demotion.

If Sirianni walks in to Lurie's office and says Patullo deserves a spot on the staff if he's demoted, then Lurie needs to show Sirianni the door.

Chargers fired their OC before the Eagles and their game ended later. Let's go, Lurie.

Yea.

98 - Milton Williams

138 - Josh Sweat

180 - Mekhi Becton

We lost the 4th because we kept Ojulari. Still a pretty good haul of picks but Howie sure used a bunch this past season already.

Ojulari cancelling out a 4th is bad. 67 snaps played. 2 tackles.

Can call it a waste but really the defense didn’t make the jump we saw until after the bye when they got Phillips. They were good, but really after Phillips got here we made another big jump. I’m not sure they’re in position that they were without making that trade.

Geoff Mosher suggested Matt Nagy as an ideal fit.

That might be the most uninspiring of all the names.

I can see the appeal for Howie and Lurie because they know him. He's from the area and has a history with the team. He does have a better understanding of how to use motion in the offense to create matchup advantages. Some of the RPO stuff they did with Mahomes would work with Hurts. It's just that he hasn't been good away from Reid.

Another thing that makes McDaniel attractive is if he's successful next year, he probably gets another HC job in 2017. He's a minority so whoever hires him can also basically lock in 2 3rd round comp picks. I'd bring him in for that reason alone.

Music to Howie's ears

Granson actually dodges out of the way of the defender.

It's not hard to do the math here and I don't think it's Sirianni.

Yes, the offense he dumbed down for Hurts to be able to try to function.

What is Lurie waiting for? Is he going through his "voluminous notes" on Patullo's performance? Maybe he is weighing canning Siri.

Greg Roman is trash and was a nepo hire.

It looks like it was maybe designed to look like or be a Run Option play where the threat of Jalen running it freezes the end. I am saying that because there is no attempt to block him. When they just ignore him like that I am assuming they think the threat of Jalen keeping the ball will freeze him for a half second. The problem with this concept is the Eagles stopped having Jalen run it or just stopped running it. Arguably if Jalen keeps this ball and doesn't head outside, he has a big gain.

It was a 6th, it was the Isaiah Rodgers signing that canceled out

Could be a FB option

Jeff McLane said he wouldn't be surprised if the Eagles keep Patullo but remove him as OC and move him back to pass game coordinator and the spin is Sirianni falling on the sword and saying he put Patullo in a tough situation and that's on him.

You don’t typically see demotions and the guy accepting it and sticking with current team. But Patullo a Siri are good buds - remember he was Siri’s first staff hire so I could see something like that happening.

Alternatively, KP may join the NO or IND staff in a lesser role.

If Sirianni was a good coach he could disguise simple concepts to make them successful. Kyle Shanahan runs an incredibly complex system that is simple for a QB to operate in and succeed. Sirianni isn't a good x's and o's coach. He may unerstand fundamentals and is good at managing players. He's not good at running a scheme.

Get that baby out of here

I actually like this move as a FB option. He’s a solid player

Yeh that is for sure Inside Zone read. The issue I see is the angle of SB at the mesh point. If he stays more off tackle (Offenses left) vs middle he is not getting caught by 91, he is almost verticle as soon as he gets the ball. The hole was to SB's left, he was headed upfield too early from what this shows imo...I don't know what the down and distance was, if was short yardage I get why he got vertical so quickly. Hurts made the correct read, 91 did make it harder by committing late though.
