let me say this I don’t think it’s realistic. I don’t think this is what the Eagles are gonna do. But theoretically Baun is tradeable after 2026. You could sign Nakobe Dean to an extension. Knowing that in 2026 you’re gonna have three really good linebackers and paying two of them. But the following year trade baun to get draft picks back to help replenish. You’re gonna wind up taking about a $9.6 million dead money hit but it would clear about 2.1 million in cap space with draft picks.

Again I don’t think it’s realistic or even remotely likely

I think he is just a nice guy who people don't want to dump on and he is Nick's best friend. There is no reason to keep him around, it's ridiculous that is the way this is starting to trend, even if it is in a different role. If you are a new outside OC coming in, do you really want the last OC hovering around part of your staff, trying to dictate or run the passing game when the passing game concepts were so awful under him? Makes no sense.

I don't see how you can agree to keep him on before you even speak to OC candidates. That totally signals please take this job where the head clown will have too much control over what you do.

I could easily see us sitting here a couple weeks from now saying we missed out on the top names because they dragged their feet on this. But they better get to it soon.

They didn't miss out last year, it was predetermined that patullo was going to replace Moore weeks before the super bowl. Once they started reporting that he was a person they were considering if moore left (really a when, they had to know he was going to get a HC opportunity), it was over. I don't even remember them doing interviews, Patullo was named the OC 10 days after the super bowl ended!

There was no intention to hire anyone else, which is was makes me so aggravated about this season, they were unserious from the get go. I guess that should have made me temper my expectations, but once the season started and the league was so weak I got my hopes up that the defense could carry them until the offense reached at least mediocrity, but the offense never did.

Replacing KP is step #1 but they either need to go to a new overall scheme or they need to spend a lot of offseason capital to restock the OL with both of those having their own risks.

Schematically, we could keep the same verbiage theoretically in order to smooth over the transition, but we need someone with experience in other styles of play to become more creative. Personal associations aside, McDaniel is my choice if he doesn’t get a HC job. Barkley would run wild, and he’d force the offense to become more explosive. Smith should have a field day.

Personnel wise, we have put most of our draft resources the past few years into the defense and it shows: 2025 — first 5 picks, 2024 — first 3 picks, 2023 — first 2 picks and 4 of our first 5. The highest drafted offensive player was Steen at #65 in the 3rd round three years ago. During that time we’ve used four 1st rounders and two 2nd rounders on defense.

Time to load up on offense again. 2 OL, a WR, and a TE must be had in the top 100 or so picks. At least, that’s what I would do.

Yeah, we need the new OL no matter what we do. We also need something at TE. If we are going to an entirely new scheme we need to look at all the players to see how they fit and that will start at QB.

I didn't watch game, but I heard Stroud had at least 3 turnovers. I saw the score this morning, and was impressed sight unseen.

It was closer than the score indicates, at least on the scoreboard. HOU controlled the PIT O masterfully all game but got a couple of late scores to really make it look horrible. It was still a game up until early to mid 4th qtr. Once PIT started throwing every down they just had zero chance.

So, there are offensive coordinators. Good and bad ones. The good ones have different systems, that likely don't all mesh with our personnel. If you get that right, you only have to stay healthy so the wheels don't fall off. No problem (except that guy will get a HC job).

I'm cool with him going, too. Everyone could see the problems this offense had, and neither he nor Patullo did a damn thing about it. F what happened to the offensive line - even if those injuries were destined to sink the offense we could have at least looked like we were trying to adjust to it. The fact that our two best years were when Nick was minimized the most with veteran coordinators should say it all.

Houston defense might carry them. Baltimore Ravens defense was fantastic. It’s one of the best defenses I’ve ever seen, especially in that postseason. However, the emergence of Jamal Lewis down the stretch of that season helped that team not have to play the snaps. The last 8 games of that year Jamal Lewis ran for 927 yards (i believe that’s the number it’s something close to that). He had a 4.6 yard per carry and was averaging over 100 yards a game (his 1st 8 games he had 437 yards and 4.1 yards per carry). While their offense was not carrying them. Their offense was effective enough running the football at that rate down the stretch so that their defense didn’t get consumed by being on the field too much.

Even last night with the Texans, CJ Stroud was a turnover machine. But they had 9 total possessions. 7 where they chewed up some clocked, moved the ball and gave their defense chunks of rest. They had one 3 and out an a fumble after 2 plays. The rest of their drives they had 6 plays 49 yards, 7 plays 30 yards, 14 plays 92 yards, 9 plays 29 yards, 8 plays 61 yards, 7 plays 45 yards and 11 plays 81 yards. They also ran the ball very well throughout the course of the game.

Not taking anything away from the Texans defense, won that game for them.

I feel like Josh McCown could be a nice snag if we don’t get an Ex-HC/proven OC (Kingsbury, Monken etc.

Maybe Mike Shanahan at Indiana?

I don’t think McDaniels fits the mold for Philly hires. Especially with him seemingly being high and vaping on sidelines during games.
