One thing discussed in here — the Super Bowl runs can sometimes be sanitized as entirely glorious in hindsight. But there have always been turbulent Decembers...

- Last season, the passing game was considered a problem entering Week 15 and Jalen Hurts suffered a concussion in a division loss in W16.

- In 2017, Carson Wentz tore his ACL in W14 and there were questions about Nick Foles entering the postseason

- In 2022, Hurts suffered an injury in Week 15 and Eagles lost back-to-back games, needed W18 to clinch NFCE/No. 1 seed

- In 2004, T.O. was injured in W15, Eagles lost final 2 games while mostly resting starters

Point is: The key is to get in the tournament and get hot at the right time.

Very true. It’s also a byproduct of the salary cap system where draft picks are locked into a cost controlled deal for 4-5 years, and veteran QBs are generally $40M and up for any veteran QB who can be a full time starter.

It makes a bit of fiscal sense to spin the wheel on a $5M per year QB and hope he hits while you spend real money building a roster around him …. or the next guy.

Right but it makes it seem like they were all busts. The success rate has always been fairly low. There’s always been a Tim Couch, Ryan Leaf, Achilles Smith, Jamarcus Russell etc

The league has a bunch of good QBs playing right now and there are a few young ones leading contenders. I’d guess it’s not much different than usual success rate wise. Maybe I’m wrong.

Rewatching the Raiders game. Are the Eagles getting 17 first round picks for McKee? Or Crosby?

Lumping Tim Couch in with those disasters isnt fair, he was coming aling until he shredded his shoulder and that was that...

It is years ago but my first ACL was done within a week of the injury. it was considered an ACL plus exploratory surgery. They found d extra ligament damage when they went in....there were no MRI options back then. My second ACL about 10 years later on the other knee was delayed for weeks...the conventional wisdom was to wait until the swelling subsided. I am not sure where the experts stand nowadays on the timing. I think it is interesting that the Dallas Cowboy team Dr performed the surgery on Mahomes.

I think as Eagles fans, we should know more than anyone else that it's not his fault. Look at our talent on both sides of the ball, then now consider that even getting half our offensive talent is what we're talking about him asking for?

I get that Howie is a wizard, but it's not his fault the Bengals are notoriously awful at team building and cap management. We signed both WR fine enough to give Saquon a new contract that he mostly didn't even need.
