I don't think it's a problem that a HC needs a good play caller who isn't himself but it's a problem when he doesn't have it.

He needs more than just a good play caller. Sirianni is a bad game planner and a bad schemer and he needs to be completely removed from any and all offensive influence and that won't happen unless a highly respected OC is brought in and given full autonomy. Sirianni is the biggest issue with this offense and that won't change as long as his buddy is here as OC.

Does anyone else notice that Dotson seems not to understand where to line up or run the wrong route at least once a game.

I can see why WAS gave him up for a third. He shows his receiving skills when the ball goes his way, but doesn't seem to seem to know how to play.

Absolutely not. What did we even get from playing the starters yesterday? For everyone who says that beating a SB contender on the road is meaningful, I'd question exactly how it is meaningful.

We knew the defense was incredible. They needed rest, not reps.

Did the offense do anything they can build on? Of course not, they just reinforced to themselves, the rest of the NFL, and to us high-stress Eagles fans that they suck.

We are right where we were 24 hours ago, just with a few more bumps and bruises.

Been saying this over and over yet some people just don't get it.....

Obviously Carter had a monster game and others like Davis, DeJean, Baun, and Mithchell were great as always.

On top of that there were others on the D that really came thru. Campbell had his best game so far making several plays. Epps made a couple of big plays and looked like MJenkins once or twice. Also, Blankenship came up with a couple of big hits. Really great team D.

You need to look at the vid posted by RememberTheKoy which shows the angle from the back. Just look back a few posts on this page. Hurts is out of bounds and it is absolutely a penalty.

Looks the same for me from that angle. Contact is made before he steps out of bounds.

It also looks like he slips and made the whole thing look worse. Defender looks like he tried to hold up too.

Would you play starters next week?

Yes just to hear people complaining about players playing the game they are getting paid to play

I remember being very surprised by how high the eagles air yards per attempt is relative to the NFL (in prior years; I don't know for this year). I have to think that number is distorted by their periodic but consistently attempted rainbow deep balls along the sidelines in the numerator and their very few pass attempts overall in the denominator. But I have to assume that the Eagles, by percentage, throw the most passes short of first down markers on third down in the NFL. It is agonizingly rare to see the football travel in the air beyond the sticks on third down with this team.

That's where the chicken and egg debate really begins. It's clear the coaches don't trust Hurts to make those throws and would sooner just eliminate turnovers and punt all the time. That's on the coaches for dictating the offense runs this way. But I'm also not sure what the point is of having a quarterback that forces you to run the offense like this. There is absolutely nothing to lose in benching a QB that you don't trust to throw the ball more than 8 yards.

Overall very happy with this win.

One of my few gripes was I still can't believe Latu managed to F up that perfect punt on the 1 yard line.

It's seriously one of the most purely brain dead plays I can ever recall....and I know we've seen a lot over the years.

100% without question all (HEALTHY) starters play next week.

We are still playing for the #2 seed. A win and Bears loss we are the #2 seed. #2 seed is huge, imo - we would likely get Green Bay at home in the 1st round - Green Bay has struggled on offense similar to the Eagles and their defense has not been as stout as our defense down the stretch.

Then we would also have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs until we faced the west division winner - IF we even face them - if not, we would have homefield advantage even in the NFCCG. That's huge and absolutely worth playing your starters for.

I think the Bills punted on that possession anyway, but backing them up could've led to a lot of good things given how the D was playing.

Ok, that's strange. He's almost an entire yard out before he gets hit. I get your argument is that his foot is likely still an inch or two above the ground when he's hit. However, a QB slowing down and being well off the field of play like that when getting hit (even if his foot is still not technically touching out) has always been a penalty. We've got 50 years of precedence.

Nick needs to have the assumption that this team will draw the Saturday wildcard game and will be playing on a short week. Your defense just played 73 snaps yesterday. He needs to rest a majority, if not all, of the starters. Especially on defense. He can do whatever he wants with the offense. Outside of worrying about injuries, nothing will change with that unit if they play or not.

Yes, I'd much rather play the Pack in the 1st round and be guaranteed a 2nd home game if we advance.

Sounds right, but I think field position flipped. And maybe that was the possession that they pinned us on our 1? Don't remember exactly.

Either way, it was easily the dumbest play I've seen by an Eagle this season.

I mostly agree but we've had some decent starts to games only to turtle later which suggests the original gameplan was OK but the OC can't counterpunch

There was a graph in here weeks ago about with 3 seconds left and the Eagles were by far the worst.

Its never been a thing with Hurts before. Its 100% Patullo.

Perfect example. The laugh and confused emoji clowns have now accepted as cult doctrine to pretend that either Hurts did have a bunch of last 3 second snaps in the past that no one else ever noticed or that Hurts has independently started doing this and it’s not the fault of one of the 10 worst OCs in NFL history.

I call them a cult because they 100% are a cult.

It should be carter or cooper but whatever

If that game was the SB, who gets the MVP?

My issue with Nick isn’t as much that he isn’t an X’s and O’s guy. You can have culture/CEO head coaches. My issue is for a guy who emphasizes and prides himself on the details and little things, this team is pretty horrible at both of those and make the dumbest mistakes week in and out. And for being a "culture/locker room” coach, there’s been drama in the locker room two out of the last three years.

So I know you can’t really get rid of him based on the success he’s had, but I don’t know what he brings to the table without great coordinators. He’s lucky to have Fangio, otherwise this is probably a 5 win team this year.

Hurts has done that in the past but it's substantially more this season - by quite a bit. That said, I am beginning to wonder if it is intentional - when McKee played every snap of his was at the 1 second mark - I thought for sure he was going to get called for delay of game at least twice out of 4 snaps.

At least he didn't go for 2... jeez, little red blew it.
