The problem is not Hurts, its Siri.

When Hurts and AJ and the rest were dominating up to halftime in 2022 games, Siri put the parking brake on and put one of those parking violation locks on the wheels.

AJ averaged 88 ypg because Siri stopped any chance he had at 95 or 100 or even a crazy 110.

Dak's Cowboys and Brady's Patriots did this. They fed people. Moss did not get 1493 and 22 without 10 targets per game.

Note: Patriots vs everyone, Dak vs DC, NY, and Eagles backups.

In 2023 Siri could not come up with anything to work vs the blitz (Hurts is the best in the NFL vs the blitz this year, it wasn't him)

AJ averaged 85.6 ypg with a high school offense and no blitz reads. Siri stopped him from getting more.

In 2024 Siri went conservative. He refused to let AJ and Saquon and the rest play in week 17.

We like winning and we all agree after the fact (even though we debated the merits of both sides at the time)

AJ only cares about his personal stats. This is clear.

AJ had 109 vs Dallas in a 34-6 game. Siri could not have thrown him a bone with a couple more go patterns vs overmatched dudes?

Gainwell and Shipley had 16 carries. Would the Eagles have lost to Dallas if they had 6?

Imagine how good AJ would feel at 185 and 2 TDs in a 48-6 DAK STATS game.

AJ averaged 8.9 targets per game in 2022-23

He's averaged 7.46 in 2024

He's averaging 7.2 this year.

The offense could be great if he averaged 9.5 targets every year. (assuming he actually runs his routes and tries)

That's not on Hurts. Its on Siri.

Siri absolutely without any doubt stole any chance at a real 2022 league MVP fight over Mahomes vs Hurts by playing ultra-conservative in the 2nd half for most of the year.

He probably also stole offensive player of the year from AJ.

Jefferson won with 1809 and 8. AJ had 1496 and 11 with 39 less targets.

That's 1848 and 14 with Jefferson targets if Siri got him the ball and dominated instead of sweating out some close 4th quarters.

Hurts does not care about this stuff.

C0 is technically also man (with rare exceptions), what they refer to as Man here is cover 1, cover 2 is a 2 over 5 coverage, (2 deep safeties split evenly and 5 underneath, though you have a variant 2 man under where the underneath defenders are in man also), cover 3 is a 3 over 4 coverage, 3 deep and 4 underneath, but the 3 deep DBs (usually 2 CBs and a S) split the responsibilities equally into thirds. Cover 4, sometimes referred as quarters, is a 4 over 3 coverage, with the deep responsibilities split evenly into quarters, Cover 6 and 8, are 3 over 4 coverages, but with one of the deep DBs covering half of the field and the other two covering a quarter each (combo of cover 2 + cover 4, hence cover 6). Cover 8 is just a flipped cover 6 with the deep half DB covering the other side that the cover 6 deep half DB would have.

To add to the above, there are also variations based on alignment, for example in Fangio C8 trix, if the offense comes out in 3x1, the backside CB is no longer in zone and flips to man with the other DBs rotating into a cover 8 shell.

And you also have different flavors of c2 with invert and Tampa and c3 with cloud and sky, but those are just assignment differences in where defenders walk down or drop, but the overall coverage is effectively the same, more or less.

IMO one of the best things to improve this Eagles team was Dickerson getting 2 bye weeks by resting vs NY.

No Carter, no Dickerson, and Q going down hurt like hell but Dickerson looks way more like the dominant player that he is now.

AJ doesn’t have any beef with Hurts play, he’s said it isn’t qb play a few times already this year. He does however say "ask KP,” a lot.

Fact of the matter is, he’s a competitor and wants to be the best at his position. Knows he can be but Siri has chosen to be a little bish and play the most conservative offense since woody Hayes was running the ball out of the power T formation. Add that KP has no clue. Most of the offense is miserable, he’s just the one voicing it the most.
