On the latest Philly Special episode Berman and Sheil had a little bit of a back and forth about why the offense is the way it is. Berman was pretty adamant that the offense is the way it is because that's the way Sirianni wants it. That he believes other teams find ways to lose and his philosophy is if the Eagles remove the aspect of losing themselves the games with turnovers then they're going to win most games in the long run. And Sheil countered with you can be risk averse without running all hitch routes on 3rd down and that doesn't mean you can't ever run a mesh play or some crossing routes. And Berman pushed back and said while that has some merit Sirianni has been with Hurts since he got here and he knows better than anyone what Jalen Hurts is comfortable with. And that Hurts is on board with it because SB57 changed his outlook and all he cares about is winning now, no matter how ugly.(He should have talked to me and he'd come to realize they actually did win the game). Seems Berman is of the belief that the offense the Eagles run is a Sirianni mandate to eliminate risk and he doesn't think it's going to change much. Though they can execute the things they are doing better.

Hurts threw 15 INTs in 2023. He's thrown only seven in the one and a half seasons since then, including playoffs. I would interested in knowing what kind of routes were interception-prone in 2023 and if those are the ones that have been suppressed in this offense.

On Sunday, Collingsworth kept visiting Hurts' inclusion in the running game.

For reference, from 2021 - 2024, he averaged 9.9 attempts per game. So far this season it's 7.3.

Note that these include scrambles.

And yet, you haven't provided ONE quote from ONE player saying they wouldn't play here because of Hurts? And again....Barkley came here, he had a choice, he knew who the QB was....all of our offensive players signed extensions knowing who the QB was. Yet you have all of these mythical NFL players staying away from this team, because of this QB? Did Hurts f your mom or something?

You're missing what he's saying.

Barkley also knew this was a successful organization, players liked playing here, we had the makings of a dominant offensive line, we had dynamic players on the offense, we have a first class owner and GM, etc.

You guys are getting in a tizzy when he's not even trashing Hurts or saying that players are purposely avoiding him. What he's saying is black and white: Players have not been openly pounding the table to become Eagles because of Hurts.

Before any of you get upset, I'm not bashing Hurts. Just trying to explain a very simple statement that's somehow impossible for some of you to grasp.

And from Siri's perspective, it works so why change? Won a Super Bowl, 8-2, good lead in the division, best in conference record in the NFC, have beaten all the NFC playoff teams so far, people said the schedule was brutal and they're 8-2. In their losses they didn't have some players due to injury, and some young guys on defense still progressing.

Now the defense is even better than before the bye. So why would Siri change? In his mind, the offense can score when needed so he'll play it safe until needed.

We'll probably continue to be frustrated with the offense. But will they continue winning games?

They get so worked up they can't even comprehend what they are reading and just start throwing tantrums. Completely crazy...

The main thing is the threat of him running.

In any case, just like almost all other QBs, Hurts ability to run is diminishing as the years go by though he's still really good at this stage. Many of the others have developed their ability as a pocket passer. Guys like Vince Evans, Steve McNair, and our very own Donovan McNabb come to mind. We have very little evidence that says Hurts progression will be successful enough to keep him as a top franchise level QB but he certainly will get every chance over the next couple of years.

And as long as they keep winning, I doubt that either Siri or Hurts care.

…and neither will I

Guys on ESPN Sunday Countdown just demolished the Eagles offense. Nothing but go routes, junior high offense, Alex Smith talking about coaching his kids 7th grade flag football team, Rex Ryan saying the Cowboys would be crazy to play anything but man, no crossing patterns or pick plays, etc etc. Those guys seemed legitimately pissed. You had to see it. A complete takedown.

How many plays per game is the offense on the field vs previous years? Everything seems to be a three and out or a TD on a drive with some chunk yardage plays.

Many of Jalen’s rushing attempts are TPs, is there any data out there separating scrambles/designed runs from the total? It would be interesting to me to see how the average has moved since 2021 to measure this real threat / threat in being.

I don't get worked up.......this is nothing more than an interest/hobby......I just hate that you try and use "facts" to back up your random assertions without using any facts. You come off as a know it all without any actual knowledge. If anyone throws look at me tantrums on here, I think you might be wise to look in the mirror....as disgusting a thought that may be.

Only one I can think of is AJ. I don't think he had a choice in picking the destination though but I could be wrong

I remember him being happy because he was on a team with his friend at the time

A lot of players don't get the choice of destination. Sometimes a player that's reaching the end of their contract will get asked where they'd like to play. They simply list the teams but don't really mention the players

It is absolutely hysterical. I can't decide if dude is Hurts Mom, Agent or Lover.

@SkippyX you keep talking about Hurts being better than other QB's, and then saying how he would have more success with their teams than those QB's would have with the Eagles. You seem to mention Allen quite a bit, but I have seen Justin Herbert mentioned also.

Please tell me man for man, position for position, which Eagle would you trade straight up for their corresponding Bill or Charger?

You are the first one to say Hurts cant succeed because of X, Y and Z, but there is not one player, across the 10 offensive starters you would switch for the corresponding Eagle.

You are not wrong. Current NFL rookie contracts can not include a no trade clause.

I want to be positive because of who we're playing but I'm worried we're rushing back a bunch of players on Oline. Seems like a recipe for disaster

@vikas83

I keep trying to find ways for the Eagles to find money on the cap via extensions, restructures, trades etc.

Majority are assuming AJ is traded and the Eagles still absorb a huge dead cap hit.

What if all is well and in AJ Brown land...how would a restructure work for him?

Yup. It's the coaching.

I think 2022 will be a decent comparison.
