16 hours ago16 hr If they make the playoffs they are getting smoked by every wild card team. Seattle, San Fran or Chicago. All are beating them easily.
16 hours ago16 hr Those two back sets were cool, I'll think of them fondly until we run the next one in 2028

I LOVE when Jalen Carter is playing up to his level, but if the Cowboys can trade Mikah Parsons, the Eagles can trade Jalen Carter. Davis has become the monster we anticipated and he doesn't need a babysitter. He's still going to cost a lot, but he's the guy they should be trying to keep. The impact Carter makes on a game is huge, but last night was the first game he missed where I thought they would be OK. A couple of 1st round picks would ne nice in return.Still not letting Nakobe Dean out of this building.Jaelen Phillips is the edge they should keep.Love Nolan Smith's attitude, but haven't seen enough from him to warrant a big contract.Marcus Epps might be good enough even turning 30 to be a stop gap safety. He's just a solid player back there. Either that, or anyone with a pulse is better than Sidney Brown.I've been thinking teh same thing. I think Davis can be the centerpiece of this defensive for the next 4-6 years and Howie should consider prioritizing him for a long-term deal.

On his interception to Smitty, the DB ran his route for him because he knew it was coming. It's Nick and Patullo. That much is obvious to me now.Even if they are bending their entire scheme to Hurts' will, then it's on the coaching. It's their job to get the most out of him and we've seen other coaches do it.Edit: and I didn't even mention the fact that they can't get playcalls in on time. Why do they snap it with 1 second left on the play clock over and over again and allow the defenses to tee off? IncompetenceWhat part of last night was fine ?
15 hours ago15 hr To emphasize how bad J. Hurts was last night: his passer rating was 31.2. If he had spiked every ball, his passer rating would have been 39.6. Ouch 🤦🏻♂️

I can't remember a single instance last night where a receiver was schemed open. Maybe their little Goedert RPO which is a Hurts thing and not a Sirianni thing. Even on the game ending interception they called a pass play to the short side of the field with two receivers in virtually the same spot. I guess Hurts is just supposed to throw it out of bounds ever other play, which I'm sure you'd all love.

It was mainly the same crappy plays they always run in the passing game. Hurts was just really bad and when he wasn’t AJ didn’t try on the good throws

15 hours ago15 hr The first play of the game where AJ decided to jog and not catch a huge TD--broken play. The AJ touchdown nullified by Mailatas hold--broken play. They called pass after pass on 3rd down where the routes were short of the sticks. AJ had that broken tackle and run. Goedert had 3-4 where he caught it short of the sticks and had to fall forward for a first down.Hurts interception on the crazy pick-fumble-fumble play, go watch AJ Browns route which looked like something you draw up for a turkey bowl with your friends. I don't think anyone was open on that play either

There was pretty much nothing different at all. Hurts is just pressing because he has to. It's just the truth.
15 hours ago15 hr Only silver lining for me is that in FF my opponent had Hurts starting. Playoffs baby :)
15 hours ago15 hr 56 minutes ago, eagle45 said:Here’s a very important thing everyone should acknowledge about Hurts:There is PLENTY of blame to go around for the offense. But there is ONE reason why they run the offense the way they do. One reason why the route concepts are so vanilla and predictable. One reason why the WRs have no yac (you can’t get yac on stationary hitch routes). One reason why they under use slants and the middle of the field. And one reason why it feels like an extremely vanilla, simple offense. And that reason is Hurts. Last night wasn’t an anomaly because Hurts usually protects the football. It was an anomaly because they dont usually open up the playbook and have Hurts throw to all sections of the field with more routes like that. And when they do, he’s a turnover machine. We’ve seen it multiple times in the past. And that’s when Siri clams up and reverts to the JV HS offense. The catch is they usually get bailed out by an absurdly dominant running game when they make that pivot.Bingo. A few of us have been saying this for a few seasons now. Hurts himself has said this. Whenever the Eagles open things up again he just can't stop turning the ball over. All of 2023The first few games of 2024 until the players stepped in and wanted to run the ball moreLast nightIt's been a consistent pattern and part of why people have an issue with him. If we had a stellar defense and an outstanding running game to lean on he is better. We won a Superbowl with this formula. When there isn't a running game to lean on and he's forced to be the guy, he crumbles.
15 hours ago15 hr If you dislike Hurts QB play, that performance justifies your dislike. If you like Hurts as a QB, its a coaching fubar that went critical at all the wrong time. Again. That statline from Hurts was brutal and symptomatic of the passing Os limitations this season- coaching and the playing side. It doesn't entirely surprise me that Hurts had that game but benching him is a very nuclear option; the smallest amount of "punishment" I could see (won't happen BTW, so stop dreaming it) is for McKee to take limited first team reps in practice to give a nudge in his direction. But as I say that won't happe, mainly for the drama it would cause externally. Does Hurts deserve a little dressing down vis a vi his recent performances? Only if you know it will work.I do think perhaps the last few weeks show the risk of retaining Hurts long term as the natural physical regression that happens to all players occurs; but contrarily, the NFL QB production line kind of sucks, so is it really that bad if Hurts runs less and less? One for FO to review and plan for in less emotional times, but I wouldn't assume Hurts will be here in 2 or 3 years time. Its fair to say that Hurts plays at a different level when he has a chip on his shoulder, and I think that is lacking this year. He achieved his goal by winning a SB, and credit to him for that. Not all of us can say that in life. But the what next is what I think is lacking and you kind of see it at times.Coaching wise. Patullo has to go; he's spent enough time learning and is vastly out of his depth. He has zero feel for the flow of game, is unable to change to fit the personnel, dithers on getting calls in and at times, exacerbates Hurts limitations further. They are worst of both worlds right now. I'd also look at whether Stoutland and training staff are doing right by the OL; too many of them are obviously dinged and being left out there to suffer through it. Its not helping Hurts or Patullo.Being super harsh. the Eagles going towards the last short to medium term won't contain any of Sirianni, Patuall or Hurts; the org perhaps needs to move on from all of them. Change is inevitable
15 hours ago15 hr Aikman seems to be one of the only announcers not afraid to point out when receivers are open and Hurts is not seeing them or delivering the ball. He pointed out several last night. Don't give me Hurts is pressing because he has to crap. He's a bad qb unless someone is wide open standing right in front of him.

Fans will point to his SB performance earlier this year but if the chiefs were not selling to stop the run, no way he would have that success. I guess it's the same for most qbs but it seems it's way more for Hurts especially with the weapons he has.

If the play does not unfold exactly like it does in practice, he panics and does not know what to do.The Chargers first TD drive was because of something so simple that any QB can do it, except Jalen Hurts. Herbert climbed the pocket, the defense reacted, and a simple dump off to his RB turned into a 60 yard play.
15 hours ago15 hr Hurts appears a lot slower when he runs now as well. Which doesn't help the running or passing game

Someone can gladly point out to me all these wide open receivers who are running around the field not getting the ball. What I consistently see over and over and over are routes run to a spot and the receiver just standing their with his thumb in his arse.

Even the most talented passers in the league can't do that. Name whoever you want, but with no running game and crappy blocking there isn't a QB on earth that will play consistently well.Hurts played an awful game but the coaching is by far the biggest issue. The Tanner McKee stuff is an absolute joke. He'd be injured after two drives with this offense

Would you rather have a dump off that gains yards or the wonderful slow Hurts trying to get the edge and fail? Hurts goes back, looks around , panics and gets happy feet and throws it away or runs for the edge. Take the dump off. And sometimes (gasp) you have to anticipate a throw. This is the NFL windows are smaller and you have to throw it on time.
