I note some teams still get a lot of latitude in that regardAs an aside, I watched bits of 2 games this weekend and the officiating in the league is both bad and wildly different between games. They still can't say what a catch is

If a WR is there at 23, it’s better to be a year too early than too late.I suspect this draft will be some order of WR, OL, TE in the top three rounds.the way I’m leaning. Especially after hearing the presser last week. I wouldn’t entirely rule out defense early if a player unexpectedly falls that they love. But i tend to think it’s going to be OL, TE and WR early as well.It makes sense to do it a year early then just wait until you get rid of AJ Brown in 2027. Get a year of on the job training in the nfl and you hope can step in once Aj is gone. That said got to hope Howie hits on the WR. Our track record besides Devonta isn’t great

January 19Jan 19 For years and years I've always said in the first round, get your guy and draft for need if you have to. After that you can draft BPA.I was talking about Sadiq and TE in the first round, but watching those games this weekend and seeing all the QBs handing the ball to the other team 20 times, it refocused me on the running game and the OL. Especially if it is not a deep OL draft, maybe that's where it's gotta be.We have to come away with at least one TE though

It looks like he initially has it going to the ground and then when he hits the ground, it starts to move out of his hand and the defender lands on him and ball switches to him at that point. That said whatever they ruled on the field is what it would’ve been after replay. I don’t think there was conclusive evidence either way to overturn it. The Davante Adams one we see every week. The guy catches it then it’s getting tackled and they try to rip it out. If defender gets it before the knee hits it’s a forced fumble and fumble recovery

I kind of think we spent money in FA on defense. I see us signing a second corner, bringing back Reed and maybe a rotational DE/pass rusher if Phillips is gone. Some stuff around the margins on offense with signings.
January 19Jan 19 Chance the bears release Cole kmet it saves them $8.4 mil if done before March 15. Have Loveland who’s ready for a bigger role. Could also try trading him before doing so. I actually don’t think he’s a bad option at TE as he’s still young at 26. Reading a lot of bears breakdowns he apparently has gotten much better as a blocker. Can still draft a TE but wouldn’t have to be as early in the draft.

The level of nuance on what is a catch, let alone the officials managing to consistently call it gives me such little confidence. I do the think the Cooks call was correct; harsh if you are Bills fans but correct. I have no faith the same decision will be made next week

I have no faith the same decision will be made next weekI mean inconsistency in the NFL is there every week. Pass interference every week is inconsistently called. I’ve been a proponent that you have somebody in the booth watching all this and if they see something that they feel is worthy of a penalty that they can buzz down and tell the officials so you can get it right. Or if there’s a penalty that’s just kind of BS they can also buzz down so they can get it right. We have the ability to have better ways to get consistent officiating and just not using it.Heck in that bills game that game shouldn’t even come to that. Because if you watch when Josh Allen is in the end zone, there are two holding calls that should’ve been made. I said it at the time it’d be the funniest thing for the NFL to have a playoff game ending with a holding call for a safety in overtime. Because everybody was lost their mind about how holding could be called any time throughout the course of the game. And I guarantee Buffalo Bills fans would’ve been found like three other plays where holding should’ve been called and said you could’ve called it there, but didn’t but you called it the biggest point of the game.

Bucs last 7 games of the season they scored over 20 points in only 1 game

The issue is with instant replay and coach reviews, they still can't get it right. But its not the only issue out there; holding, what is OPI/DPI etc. The NFL has a long way to go to make the officiating even consistently average
January 19Jan 19 I wouldn’t want to hire Grizzard as OC but as a WR coach/passing game coordinator? Sign me up. I suspect he lands in Jacksonville if their OC gets the Cleveland job.
