Currently only Hurts and McKee on roster as QBs. I don’t see McKee moving. If Fields just landed a 2027 6th, what makes you think McKee leads to a high third when they want Rodgers back, have Cousins as an option? Lance and Mac Jones showed the value of a good back up last year and both were retained by their respective teams.

I get what you’re saying…but Fields isn’t a good litmus to use haha. The fact that he fetched anything is actually amazing. At least McKee is promising. Fields, was, well…uh.

Always had a soft spot for Maddox. He did stay healthy the last couple years and played some safety for Detroit.

That said, I don't see the need outside of freak injuries.

A healthy Maddox is an upgrade at the S position…one he was very good at and I’m still not sure why Gym Shorts didn’t leave him there.

I think McCreary is till available and is 1000x better than Maddox ever was even in his one solid season. Not sure what the deal is with McCreary.

He was signed by Detroit

now my world makes sense again. Sportrac has been very slow updating their free agency tracker.

Honestly, they could actually do worse than Dillard for a swing tackle....

Dillard? The guy who literally said playing both sides was like writing with your right hand all your life and switching to left handed?

You could do worse, if they signed me.

Dillard is trash. Eaglefarty5 is just trying to one up himself after saying that Goedert is a replacement level 550 yard TE and that Michael Carter and Andrew Mukuba will be a fine starting tandem at safety.

Am I crazy or does this seem super reasonable in 2026 cap dollars?

You are not crazy. Howie has no need for guys like Kirk at 6 million or Brisker at 5.5 million for some reason.

So we're signing Dillard to be the swing tackle and Maddox to be the safety... Wow facepalm

I can't think of an OT I'd less prefer to have than Dillard. He doesn't even play OT anymore. I'd rather sign a 45 year old Jason Peters and I say that not even joking.

For those still holding out hope that Howie wakes up from his week long nap and actually starts addressing some needs here are some available free agents that don't totally suck:

Edge Rusher

AJ Epenesa

Safety

Kyle Dugger

Xavier Woods

Donovan Wilson

Marcus Epps

Wide Receiver

Jajuan Jennings

Deebo Samuel

Stefon Diggs

Marquise Brown

Brandon Cooks

Offensive Line

Mekhi Becton

Fred Johnson

Don't forget DeAndre Hopkins

and Tyreek Hill

Pass. He's 34 and looked cooked last season in Baltimore.

Just because a player is a free agent doesn't mean the team wants to sign them. The scouts, coaches and GM look at these guys and target who they want. They look at scheme fit, they have their prior work on them the year they were drafted, they look at everything for months.

Some of you list bottom of the barrel scraps...yet complain they sign bottom of the barrel scraps. They don't want these guys.

Or, they're waiting til after the draft. This literally happens every year, yet so many act like it's their first year watching football.

I watched this same exact strategy play out in the 2025 off-season. Remind me how that worked out for the Eagles during the season.

I would go:

Epps at Safety. Been nothing spectacular but solid. Willing to lay a big hit

Sign both Becton and Johnson. Good locker room guys who obviously played their best football here.

Trade for Sweat. 12.5 sacks is more than 3 for Greenard. Of course depends on compensation and if things are equal Greenard may be the better fit long term. But. we are win now team and how many injured shoulders do we need on the team?

Pretty spot on the same as mine. Johnson needs to be signed and Sweat is the best option at edge if they can get him. Knows the system and won't break the bank.

At this point it's Epps and a rookie. I'd love MB but they my choose to draft one high.

CVON is just conditioning to endure TATE in the off-season.

Biggest question marks on the eagles are, in order:

  1. Offensive line - LG, C, and RT between injuries and guys playing through injuries are all question marks in some way. This drop off was the most surprising part of 2025, and OL issues are the hardest problem to solve in free agency because teams with good linemen lock them up. Gotta hope some of these developmental guys we drafted pan out (Kendall, etc). Best move Howie made last year was picking up Fred. Without a known quantity backing up Lane things would have gotten even worse.

  2. Edge - Philips is a big loss. Changed the defense more than any single move. Panthers WAY overpaid, Philips isn't worth $25m/yr. But it still is a loss. Gotta hope Hunt steps up again earlier in the season this time, and a healthy Carter can help offset. Greenard I'd like if we don't have to break the bank, but I'd not be shocked if we tried to get an edge in the 1st. One of the easier positions to plug in a bit. Otherwise we'll see Jihaad mixing in down low when he needs to be QB'ing the defense. FWIW I will 100% miss Nakobe.

  3. Safety - I am less concerned than most here seem. Mukuba was very good for a rookie, and his injury is very recoverable. Epps would be fine. If Vic wants to plug Carter in ... I'm less enthused but I have some faith in Unc (though I also think he underused Ojulari last year because he's too enamored with how guys practice and doesn't allow much room for "gamers"). All that said, we'll be "ok" at safety.

Our defense probably won't figure itself out until week 8-10. But we still have a good amount of talent on the line, at LB (wow!), and CB.

If we can't run and pass block though, it's gonna get bad.

Yep, agree. Lots and lots of KP excuses (rightly so) but the main issue last year was the health of the OL and there is no guarantee that they are healthy this year. From there the starting Edge need is the BIG item. I'm not too concerned with S as we will fill that need at least minimally.

I am no scout nor capologist but...what did you want them to do. They won the Super Bowl and Howie flat out told the world, we aren't going to be able to keep everyone and we have some very tough decisions coming. And this is still true....or perhaps you'd like them to sign all the big time free agents out there and not be able re-sign Carter, Q and Coop?? But then you'd be on here screaming from the rooftops, we signed all that dreck and we lost our best players!

The way you're screaming on here, you make it sound like it's the 80's and 90's and this team hasn't recently won 2 Super Bowls and they haven't been the 2nd best team in the NFL since 2000.

Yes, it's unfortunate that we lost players the last 2 years, this was due to a massive investment in the offense with massive contracts upcoming on the defense. Here is really the only place or reason that we all should criticize......when you have that massive investment in the offense, and you already witnessed the Brian Johnson fiasco just 2 years prior and Howie and Lurie had to jump in and get Fangio and Moore.....how the f'ing f do you allow Sirianni to repeat the same f'ing mistake with Patullo? How the f when you know you have a limited window and you are going to lose players that you'd love to keep due to cap constraints do you f'ing allow Patullo?!?!?? It's like having a Ferrari and you put the keys in the hands of a Mentally Challenged blind person.

And even with all of this.....I never thought in my lifetime, I would see the Eagles win a Super Bowl let alone two. I lived and watched (or even had to listen on the radio because games were blacked out) during the 80's and 90's. I was at the last game at the Vet vs. Tampa in the NFCCG. I witnessed the Fog Bowl vs. Chicago. I witnessed Bryce Paup going low on Randall, in the year where the Eagles arguably had maybe the best defense in NFL history and had to use 6 different QB's, go 10-6 and not even make the playoffs.

Is this team perfect? No! Is Howie perfect? No! But goddamn some of you ungrateful, whiney ****es just sound like flat out puzzies.

A healthy Maddox is pretty damn good anywhere, we just seem to have bad luck with keeping him healthy.

I’m in the fog of Disney and missed this if previously reported by someone else. We guaranteed $700,000 for Calcaterra to do nothing as a receiver and to actively sabotage blocking assignments?

Howie has some cap space to burn after re-signing Goedert and extending Davis. With it seeming like a trade of Brown won't happen until 6/1 (if at all), have to wonder what he's trying to cook up here. The relative quietness is interesting.
