A respected vet coach with a strong presence can make it hard to truly be in full chargeI dont think so. Cleveland is hiring a HC. They're expected to fill out their own staff. We are hiring a coordinator. Those guys dont have that power to rebuild a whole staff.

His point is that it becomes unsustainable when paying the QB your typical QB big money contract these days because you end up not being able to keep the roster together. He is right.Notice the pendulum swinging back towards defense and run games win super bowls. Teams with bad QBs are more and more frequently making post-season runs. You had some big seasons with Minnesota and Kase Keenum. You have Sam Darnold in the super bowl this year. You had Jalen Hurts win because of defense and a run game. Other playoff teams this year, Caleb Williams, Stroud, Trevor Lawrence. None of those guys are upper echelon QBs.Steelers made playoffs last year with washed up Russell Wilson. Vikings made it last year with Sam Darnold. Its just becoming more and more frequent because QB contracts have gotten so big that you cant build a good enough roster around them, or keep it together if you lucked in to enough draft picks to temporary be in contention.Nah, small sample. We'll see

In 2022 the top 5 for the Eagles were Hargrave, Johnson, Slay, Graham, Kelce. Hurts was #27 in salary, and he was studly that season. 3,700 passing yards, 22-6 TD/INT, 760 rushing yards, 13 TDs in the regular season. Now it's flipped and thank goodness the defenders we drafted are excellent. The real challenge is now as the salaries for the defenders escalate. Hope we can draft offense as well as our recent defensive drafts.

Tuesday at 02:48 PM2 days I think I know why we haven't hired anyone yet. At the end of the interview Vagianni tells the candidate to pretend he is looking into the camera and do their best head nodding d0uche face. So far, no one has passed the test.

I’m guessing part of Woody Johnson’s reasoning was Jets are going to be bad in 2026 regardless so give Glenn a second year to see if he could make some sort of turn around. Then if he doesn’t, he’s firing Glenn and probably going to pick high enough to get a quarterback atop of the draft for next HC

Tuesday at 03:25 PM2 days Some reporters (clearly stealing their material from the EMB!) have posted that the Eagles are using this opportunity to pick the minds of the candidates for ideas that they might utilize even if they don't hire that person. And consider them for future head coach job if they fire Siri next year. If the latter is true and they like someone as a potential HC they could hire them and promote to HC if needed. The problem is if they like a candidate and he takes a HC job elsewhere they won't be able to hire him next year so there's that risk. Hiring them as the OC here secures them so you can promote if you want. But then how do you sell that to the candidate? Don't want to look dysfunctional like here come work for Siri but he's on the hot seat and you can take his job...they may think it's too much pressure and they will be replaced if they don't immediately win playoff games. That may be a reason some candidates are choosing other teams that aren't as good, less pressure to win.

Tuesday at 03:31 PM2 days It certainly feels like they are just interviewing guys until Daboll/Brady gets sorted. But it’s just a guess at this point. Again Kingsbury relatively quiet

I’d also like to get something for Jalen via trade before it is obvious that the wheels are falling off - perhaps that’s after a ‘bounce back’ year maybe earlier.Right now this team is better with Hurts than without him. It’s crazy how many people turn from one extreme to the other. I’ve never loved Hurts but he’s accomplished much more than I anticipated.
