How’s the search for an OC going for eagles fans:

IMG_7079.jpeg

I am not impressed by the GB offense. They dont run the ball all that well. I know thats become pretty good with Josh Jacobs in town, but it still doesnt look like a dangerous run game to me. Hes just a good RB. Love misses tons of passes and cant operate under pressure. The WRs drop a ton of passes. And I am not sure how much they are schemed open vs using the speed to open things up.

I do like that they value speed at WR. And that alone opens things up by stretching the field. And they do run routes to stretch the field, and pass a lot in the intermediate and long areas rather than spamming curls.

It seems similar to the Ravens scheme to me. And I wasnt a big fan of going for Monken. But hes the best left. And Mannion offers probably something similar.

Seens their scheme would be an improvement as long as Hurts is willing to throw to those intermediate routes.

Just to be clear, we have missed out on McDaniel because he only likes warm weather, and possibly Daboll because he promised his friend he would go be his OC.

There are no others who have been hired that a. the eagles clearly liked, and b. fans even wanted.

Yet, people are upset.

Why do you hate Philly fans so much.

@Joe Ball I know Dallas usually goes for LBs early when they are drafting them. Otherwise, this guy reminds me of a Dallas LB. 6'4'' 240LB, prototypical size, and big production. Heard his name on one of the shrine bowl stand out videos I watched.

Its a really great year for you to need an LB. Theres tons of good ones and Dallas knows how to pick them.

Packers fans are upset enough about the possibility of losing Mannion that I would be optimistically intrigued by the hire.

Also intrigued by Frank Smith.

What do you mean, what do I mean? I think there is a reason the past 2 HC hires were teo off the radar guys no one else was considering that would come in and be fine being a puppet for the GM. Doug was until he won then he wasn't fine with that any longer.

Howie has more power as GM of the Eagles than any other GM in the league, second only to Jerry Jones. Not an ideal situation for most coaching candidates.

Lurie's coaching hires have been coordinators who were never an NFL HC before. When he hired Andy Reid the Philly media and fans went nuts. Who? They made fun of his binder with ideas and plans.

They took a risk with Chip because they were trying for an innovative offense. Then went "safe" with Doug from the Reid tree and who would be better with players. Since Reich was on staff here they went to his tree to hire Siri. So they also like familiarity.

That may be a reason Cooter gets the OC job, prior working relationship.

Now that's crazy timing wise

Hey Lurie, Howie: did you know you can interview someone and then decide to fire your guy and replace them? ph34r

Is there a remaining candidate that if announced wouldn't be a disappointment to fans?

Cliff Kingsbury

Thomas Brown

Ken Dorsey

Mick Lombardi

Wasn't it reported Cliff wanted his own Oline coach?

Monken to Giants is still not official. Howie should be all over that

So how do we all feel about the new OC? It’s gonna be Manion.

Not that it matters but Cliff is with a K

Engstrand as pass game coordinator for Lions under Ben Johnson.

Let's just handle this now - hell no. I don't want Jets stink.

I would be very interested in bringing him aboard in some capacity. He wasn’t a problem there. He was very highly thought of before getting dealt an unimaginably bad hand in NY.

Joe Douglas should have a read on him, and he Jets had less than zero talent on offense. But still...I just can't with the OC from the Jets.

There's 4 HC jobs left.

I have more and more doubts Daboll is headed to Buffalo. There seems to be some hangup and Pegula is getting much more involved. I expect this to go sideways.

I'm thinking Klint Kubiak to Raiders.

Mike LaFleur to the Cardinals

Gym Shorts "promoted" to the Browns

I still think this is the most likely for the HC circut.

For OC, Mannion is interesting. Was in the league for almost a decade, but has only been in coaching for the past 2 seasons. He crossed paths with Nick Foles with the Rams. He would be the first candidate that' we've heard has had a 2nd interview, right? They must really like him.

1/15 - 1/22 At least that we heard of, they interviewed Weis Jr., Cooter, Daboll, Doyle, Slowik, Nagy, Robinson, Kafka, and Grizzard.

1/24 Slowik stayed with the Dolphins, 1/26 Weis Jr., Doyle, and Kafka pulled out or took another position.

1/27 announced that Mannion will interview in person after previously meeting with the team virtually.

I think there's definitely something there.

I would be interested in Engstrand. If not OC, then PGC.

I’m not sure Douglas will know much about him at this point. This feels like when Salah fired LaFleur (about to get the HC job in Arizona) to hire Hackett for Rodgers. LaFleur was blamed for Zach Wilson bombing but he was just doomed to fail no matter what.

Fields’ rushing helped.

Engstrand would be intriguing. I know we hate on Hurts for a lot of reasons but Fields truly is an abysmal passing QB. Pass game coordinator for 3 years prior in Detroit so working with a run game coordinator like Stout seems reasonable.

For real, I might have him at the top of the list at this point.

It was a "mutual decision” to part ways but I wouldn’t be shocked if teams reached out when they heard he was being demoted and he saw a more promising situation elsewhere.
