This is not a contingency. This is the plan. While i agree they cast a wide net and gather a lot of info with candidates. But they’ve also gotten fortunate in the process. They were hiring mcadoo but the giants swooped in when he was on the facility. That was their no. 1 guy and they were going to hire him. I believe when hiring Fangio wasn’t really a long drawn out search.

I think the possibility also exist that this wasn’t that great of a candidate pool especially when 10 HC opportunities opened. I kind of think they do the extensive research with candidates, because when they hire Chip it kind of felt like that’s who they wanted all along. even though they interviewed other candidates, they were so hyper focused on getting him even after he said no initially that they missed the signs that he probably wasn’t the right guy for the job or organization. And now they’re way more thorough than what they were at that point in time. also I think part of this is gathering information on some of these younger candidates is in case they have to make a move at head coach down the road over the next couple years.

Also saying it wasnt a good pool is revisionist history. When fans here started seeing names who would be available, they were excited. The issue is, fans here cant decide what they actually want.Established offensive mind? Play caller? Someone who will possibly stay here for years? Just the best offensive mind who may still leave after the season? Theyve basically created an impossible list with opposing objevtive that they want to happen all at once. So they have decided against every candidate, and still freak when we dont hire those guys. Its gotten beyond dumb.
January 28Jan 28 I like this Parker already:The Cowboys have informed defensive passing game coordinator Andre Curtis, linebackers coach Dave Borgonzi, and secondary coach David Overstreet II that they will not return, per Calvin Watkins of theDallas Morning News.

January 28Jan 28 We have no idea who they like. Not surprising they started with the veteran coordinators, b/c they'll get the best insights from the guys who've been around the block. The long shots are more about evaluating the person as OC than the insights about the Eagles they can provide, since they're younger with less experience with the NFL.But realistically, all OCs are crap shoots, b/c successful one move on to be HC, and if they fail, no guarantee they'll be comfortable back in an OC role. And it's hard to separate scheming, play calling and personnel. KP probably looks a lot smarter with a healthy OL, a solid run game, and the ability to run most of last year's offense. For Howie, one value of a wide net is getting opinions on his current players before he has to make decisions about who to extend and who to cut.

I’m just posting the tweet from the reporter who has sources who indicating that had been said to him that the contingency plans wasn’t in the place it should’ve been. That’s why I said it sounds damning if that is true.I think people overrated some of the candidates. Like McDaniel but I think Mike McDaniel is overrated by fan. I don’t think he fits with the skillset of Jalen hurts so we would have to change his offense. I also think people get in their mind that that offense looked great against these weaker teams. And then when they faced better teams they tended to struggle in his tenure. I brought up the stats against playoff teams the other week. It kind of reminded me of the lions this year, where they put up these eye popping numbers against bad teams, then struggled against better defenses/teams. Imo daboll and McDaniel being the top 2 candidates were not gotta haves. I would’ve been happy if they got either of them and they were in my top 5. But I didn’t think man if they don’t get them they’re completely screwed or the offense is easily fixed with them.To me, the only candidates that I didn’t like at all was Matt Nagy. I haven’t liked Matt Nagy for a while. prior to him even being mentioned. I’ve said this about his time in Chicago and with the chiefs. So it isn’t just he’s a candidate here. This is in general. I don’t like Matt Nagy. The other was Arthur Smith. Just frankly, I don’t think he’s very good and he’s living off the success of Derrick Henry in Tennessee years later. Everyone else is not overly exciting , but I would’ve at least given them a chance. That said a lot of people even if it wasn’t daboll or McDaniel or Kingsbury we’re going to be underwhelmedI’ve said this before, even if you got a better coordinator than Patullo there’s a chance that your offense loses talent this off-season. We don’t know what’s gonna happen with AJ Brown. We don’t know what’s gonna happen with Dallas goedert. We don’t know if lane is gonna retire. You could get a better coordinator and he gets more out of less talent, but yet with less talent struggle to be better than mediocre offense. And if you regress or don’t get past a wild card around and lurie believes you should’ve then everybody’s getting fired besides Fangio and Stoutland. Imo that is a possibility that exists. Just like the role of possibility exist that you could be better and everybody’s back next year and you lose your OC to another team as a HC

January 28Jan 28 Every award voted on by writers and media has always been and will always be a popularity contest.Belichick spent his professional life making enemies. This is exactly what he deserves. He disrespected the dimwit writers and now they get their collective petty revenge. He will get in eventually but he does not deserve to be in on the first ballot of a popularity contest.I'm OK if he has to wait 10 years until he dumps the bimbo.
