C'mon man this is just 'pick the 2 biggest guys who may be available at OC this cycle and say they were the Eagles top picks', it requires no inside knowledge and McMullen says himself in another article that the the team aren't going to confirm or deny anything about the search either way.

I like daboll but even he you are relying on what he do 5-6 years ago with Josh Allen. Imo in the end the pool of candidates to choose from for OC wound up not being all that great while also having 14-15 OC jobs open. monken was either getting browns HC or following harbaugh. Brady becoming HC eliminated him from being an OC. stefanski was never realistically becoming an OC over. So those guys were realistic options for you. So in eagles fans minds it became daboll/McDaniel or bust. Which elevated their stature. made them overlook their flaws and warts but still compared to what the rest of the field of retreads or young candidates with no OC/play calling experience or not at this level appear significantly better.

On daboll, I think the Eagles OC job is still better than the Titans. Less issue with Ward. Don’t trust titans ownership. Had vrabel and ruined that relationship. Also history of poor decisions over the last couple years( coaching decisions, FA and trades). Would anyone be surprised if the titans fired Saleh after a season?

Imo the last sentence doesn’t come from the Eagles. I think that’s what he was told by a source that’s heard things in NFL circles. The Eagles are never gonna tell him that to begin with. Because they don’t want that out even if that were or weren’t true. That’s either coming from NFL league circles and what’s being discussed or the source is an agent told him what he had heard.

Can question the validity of that sentence and source (don’t think it’s completely accurate as eagles tend to move slowly), but if it happens to actually be true that it would be an issue.

Definitely a lot of good coaches that were available but most wanted HC and we only need OC. So we're left with scraps and some of the scraps said no lol

The amount of HC jobs opening up dwindled the OC candidates you realistically had to choose from. Rare the nfl has 10 HC jobs open up. Nearly a third of the league. It became McDaniel, daboll and then a pool of retreads or young coaches with little to no play calling experience (or none at nfl level)

Imo if the eagles fired sirianni and were doing HC interviews could’ve had harbaugh, kubiak, stefanski, Udinski, mike LaFleur added to some guys they interviewed for OC. i actually think would’ve also gotten someone like Minter interviewed but i don’t see them hiring a defensive coach. Tbh i could make the argument of the eagles job would look better for a potential HC than potential OC.

Obviously the top two names the eagles considered were McDaniel and Daboll. Neither got close enough in the process to make an offer. McDaniel had particular wants and Daboll seemed stuck on Cam Ward from trying to get him last year in draft. It is what it is.

If the Eagles take a less experienced candidate I’ll trust them to make a good choice until I see the product then judge that. Falling back to Nagy seems bad to me

Were only 2 guys i really had absolutely no want: Matt Nagy and Arthur smith. I dislike both of those guys. Not just this search but in general with how i felt about them for a while. Smith taking OC job at OSU eliminated him.

I hope I’m wrong if they do it but if they hire Nagy i think there’s a good shot we are looking for a new HC at the end of 2026.

Stefanski is a local and would have had the best chance. I don’t know that Harbaugh would want to work with Howie. We love Howie but that dynamic isn’t for everyone. History says we wouldn’t have landed the top candidate but who knows

I think Harbaugh would’ve interviewed with us. i don’t know if he takes the job for exactly what you said. Although I want to say there was a story out when Doug was the head coach that the ravens were considering firing Harbough then. That lurie loved harbaugh

Kind of think stefanski may have been the guy.

Agreed on both. Yes there’s definitely a chance that we’re looking for a coach next year. We’ve been good at bouncing back but eventually the bounces don’t all come.

Realistically there was no way we were firing Sirriani this year for those who have said that.

The OC hiring will take the time it takes; we all want someone hired on day 1, but we should know this team doesn't just hire the first person that walks through the door. Frustrating? VMS. But we don't know the scope/criteria of what they want to hire for, and the bigger names have more choice. We move on.

And Engstrand does look to be an intriguing candidate that in all honesty, leaving the Jets will likely be one of his best ever career moves.

yep I suspect they’ll swing at a young offensive coach if it comes to that.

I hope they bring in the guy from the jets. He sounds like he has a good scheme.

Also wouldn't mind David webb but think he gets something bigger.

Based on Berman saying Weiss and Doyle had "legit steam”, it feels like those are two names to watch if it comes to that next offseason

Kind of think Davis Webb gets promoted to OC by the broncos after Lombardi was fired. Granted with us or ravens he gets to call plays. Whereas with Payton he doesn’t.
