I like the hire. I don't like what it says about the Eagles OC job, paradoxically, but I like what the Eagles are pursuing with the hire. They'd rather get good people in than essentially safe administrators.

I think the eagles have consistently not gotten the most desired candidates for a while. But they’ve made it work by hiring guys a year early.

I’m not going to pretend Mannion would have been at the top of a list I made a week ago but he’s here and I’m getting excited about the possibilities. Whether I think it has a 20% chance of working out or 80% doesn’t matter and I’m not worrying about it

I dont think its as clear cut as, "the eagles had to settle for their 5th pick" thus "the process was bad".

Exactly. Were they guaranteed to win? No. Would they have had a better chance than most teams considering they returned 90% of the starters from last year? Yes. Literally one coach derailed the entire season, and the head coach just sat there and watched it happen

I already said Im not impressed by the GB scheme. But it can be effective if we start focusing on speed in the WR corps. What would be better would be if he brings more of the McVay style of offense with him rather than the GB stuff.

Then again, maybe the GB offense looks a lot better if it had our personnel.

The Green Bay offense was 4th in EPA this year.

Not sure that's true. Patullo deserves alot of blame but we keep forgetting the O-line wasn't nearly as good this year. Jurgens, Dickerson and Lane being injured mostly all season was a big reason we weren't as good.

Sheil asked Berman about Schefter eluding to some other Eagles news and Berman said he can't say what specifically Schefter was referring to because it could be anything, but he said around this time of the year you always get a lot of buzz when you cover an NFL team and he said there's been some buzz about a specific potential piece of news that he's trying to track right now to see if it's legit and he said he should get more clarity on it within the next couple of days. And if he confirms it's something he'll report it, but he said right now since it's unconfirmed he can't say what it is.

He did say it's nothing to do with a new stadium.

That falls on coaching for trotting out 2 injured, limp D dudes all year long even after Toth proved more than capable at C. Whether that was patullo or stoutland idk (patullo should be making lineup decisions for the offense), but Sirianni as the HC needed to be a HC in that moment and force whoever to put those two on the shelf.

Ultimately if someone doesn’t want to work for Sirriani, have Hurts as QB, be in the Philly media market or be in the cold then you have to move on to the next person. I don’t think you want to convince someone who doesn’t want it because the stress of the job and market are too much.

People on this board act like it’s unusual but that is happening all over with players, coaches etc. It’s just part of building a team

As I've said, I feel is basically based on speed at the WR position opening things up, rather than a great scheme.

Im also not impressed with their run game. It's been better since they got Josh Jacobs. Of course, he's an excellent player. However, their run game still doesn't feel dangerous. You just have to tackle a physical RB, that's all.

I think Jayden Reed is an absolute problem for defenses, and when healthy is often underutilized. That's maddening if it happens here. Basically what we experienced with Tank this year.

Now you don't have to convince me on Mannion. Stats don't tell the story of that offense. It can gain yards but just isn't very good. It's dangerous because of its explosive potential. But isn't very good.

The redeeming factors are

1. It may be better with our way better personnel.

2. It only needs to be slightly better than Patullo which seems easily attainable.

3. Maybe Mannion mixes in a lot more McVay stuff when he is away from LaFleur. I know LaFleur is from that tree but his offense does not resemble the Rams.

I'm not down in the hire. I've just never been a buyer of green bay as a legit contender. Said all year, they're pretenders. And in spite of what I've said about their scheme not being impressive, I do believe it works if their QB was any good and if their WRs could catch.

Eagles weren't fancy but could beat you with talent. GB isn't fancy but can beat you with speed, but then drop the ball. Our guys won't drop the ball.
