I'm not going to pretend that Brown is as good as Jaylen Waddle. But Waddle is not 1st and 3rd round picks better...

what? pretend? Brown IS better than Waddle. Always has been.

someone people hoped the eagles would trade for last season

Bern tied up when something actually happened. Like the Brown signing. Better player than Dotson if we’re being honest.

Hollywood is way better at running routes and knows how to use speed. If only he had better hands. Maybe he can teach Danny Gray. Eagles have three speed WRs on the roster now in Hollywood, Watkins and Gray.

Quez Watkins and Danny Gray? By September, one will be on the PS and one will be unemployed...

Not. Just been in better situations than Dotson.

Top 3 are easy although the order can be debated. Shocked to see the Chiefs at 4. Feels like their roster has done nothing but decline around Mahomes since 2021.

Barkley is not a good receiver. Goedert, if he's even healthy, figures to have a smaller role in the offense considering how non-committal they were with him. AJ Brown is playing his last year in Philly, if he's even here. If he can earn them, lots of targets are there for the taking.

This is a rare time that I disagree with you. Do you remember who is throwing him the football? I don't care what new offense is being installed - Hurts does not have the cognitive ability to go through progressions to get to the 4th option on most passing plays.

OK heres an interesting "read between the lines at what they think of the Eagles" sequence:

2022 Olamide Zaccheaus is a good 3rd WR for the Falcons, 40/533/3. 2023 he completely disappears in Philly, 10/164/2. 2024, he's back with Commanders (After they trade us Dotson), 45/506/3.

2022-2023 Dotson averages 42/520/5.5. 2024-2025 total disappearance with the Eagles, averaging 18.5/239/0.5.

Atlanta Falcons just gave Dotson 2yr 15m with 10 guaranteed, aka quite a bit more than Hollywood Brown.

That's the Falcons and Commanders saying they have no respect for our offense and QB....

Well, see my last post. I realize my posts seem a bit conflicting. Over the years, we've had 2 stud WRs, a stud TE, and a QB who can't process multiple reads. We can debate exactly where to finger-point, but it's essentially established that the collective offense could not get the football to a 3rd WR.

My only point with the post you quoted is that we really don't have that many mouthes to feed on offense anymore. AJ is declining or gone, Goedert isn't a volume receiving TE anymore, and Barkley isn't a particularly good receiving back. A top flight #3 WR should, in theory, have no trouble getting plenty of targets in the evolving (more like declining) hierarchy of receiving options in this offense.

But the Jalen Hurts paradox still applies. So you're right...I don't know that I'd bet on the productivity of a 3rd WR in this offense.

Another comment on this (and not that I'm one to defend Hurts)....but Mcnabb completely lacked the cognitive ability to go through multiple progressions. Yet the Eagles were a notorious "spread the ball" offense early in his career and consistently involved their #3 WR in the offense throughout his career. That was AR dictating and varying the first read on passing plays.

The Eagles simply don't do that, even with their more successful OC's. Maybe it's just because the Brown/Smith/Goedert trio is just too good to force many targets to OZ/Dotson/Calcaterra as primary reads. I don't know. But in 2026, that trio won't be that much of a better option than their WR3.

Aren’t the WRs supposed to block in this offense? So we have 170 lb, 160 lbs, and an unwilling 230 lbs blocking at wideout?

There is no blocking on this team.

No one should have respected our passing offense last season. Also, the Eagles have never been a spread it around offense. Dotson was 5th in targets on the offense the last 2 seasons. He had less than 40 targets each season. He was the number 3 receiver but nothing was really designed for him. Zaccheaus was 7th. He was behind Watkins, Gainwell and Smith. He only had 21 targets in 2023.

Pretty happy with the Hollywood signing. Maybe it will cause defensive confusion on which Brown to cover

By stupid you mean drafting, paying then cutting Tua? lol

And it's more than that, isnt it?

Tua - 99 Million

Chubb - 11 million

Tyreek Hill - 28 million

Jalen Ramsey - 21 million

Minkah Fitzpatrick - 13 million

Terron Armstead - 10.7 million

Waddle - 55 million? I think I'm reading the option bonuses wrong.

Plus smaller hits (5 million and lower):

James Daniels - $4,800,000

Zach Wilson - $3,800,000

Alec Ingold - $1,995,000

Jonnu Smith - $1,650,000

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine - $1,600,000

Matt Judon - $1,360,000

Jason Sanders - $663,000

Cam Smith - $527,897

Mohamed Kamara - $160,436

Yea my bad, the $170M is dead in just this year lol

The Dolphins offseason seemed like a nice, systematic deconstruction for tanking and assets aside from signing Malik Willis (and whatever other additions they may have made that I'm not aware of).

Take the cap hit on the chin, now for your old franchise QB. Check. Trade a star player for more than you should get in return. Check. But why give Willis all that money just to set him up to fail? They can roll with a worse QB for cheaper who will earn them a better draft pick. Let Minshew or Jameis entertain the fans for a year while you get a top 3 pick.

Between the Waddle trade and the cheap Brown signing, a great day to be an Eagles fan.

Hollywood Brown

He actually said he leans towards a trade because he thinks that’s what AJ would prefer

Hollywood has the speed we need! Weeeeee!

He should be a good cheap signing that does well in the play action scheme they claim they are going to run.

Noice.

A healthy Maddox is pretty damn good anywhere, we just seem to have bad luck with keeping him healthy.

That’s a bit of a stretch. He had one goodish year in the slot. Outside of that he was pretty bad and hurt. His rookie year when he was moved to safety…he was amazing.

Our WR room is a bunch of Smurfs, once AJ leaves.

Was it the Redskins, back under HC Joe Gibbs, maybe from the 90's, that had that nickname for their WR group?? 🧐

Nah he was good in the slot in the SB. He was also really good in (2022? Anyways one of those years before getting hurt) in the slot.

Dude is good he’s just glass.
