If Mannion is bringing the McVay/Shanny offense it would be imperative that we add a real third wide receiver who can do some dirty work and/or manufactured touch stuff. The best fit for that would be Makai Lemon. He should be gone by our pick. I don’t know much about Concepcion beyond him being a good RAC guy. I saw some Harvin comps.

In FA, Wandale Robinson would fit the bill, but he seems like a lock to get paid more than he is worth. Last year bums like Dyami Brown and Tutu Atwell got $10M/year.

So with Mannion hired, is that the news Shefter was talkin about or do we have another nugget falling this weekend?

He specifically said it was something else. That's why its a big story. Still news coming.

I'm not a Lemon guy at all. But there's a ton of WRs in this draft.

I still really want a trade for Whittington from the Rams who is criminally underutilized, and is the exact definition of dirty work guy. Great blocker. But also great receiver as well.

Dyami is a FA again. I loved his game at UNC. Unfortunately, he hasn't developed at all.

This Dhar Mann guy doesn't seem that great according to wiki anyways

As I've said, I feel is basically based on speed at the WR position opening things up, rather than a great scheme.

Im also not impressed with their run game. It's been better since they got Josh Jacobs. Of course, he's an excellent player. However, their run game still doesn't feel dangerous. You just have to tackle a physical RB, that's all.

I think Jayden Reed is an absolute problem for defenses, and when healthy is often underutilized. That's maddening if it happens here. Basically what we experienced with Tank this year.

Now you don't have to convince me on Mannion. Stats don't tell the story of that offense. It can gain yards but just isn't very good. It's dangerous because of its explosive potential. But isn't very good.

The redeeming factors are

  1. It may be better with our way better personnel.

  2. It only needs to be slightly better than Patullo which seems easily attainable.

  3. Maybe Mannion mixes in a lot more McVay stuff when he is away from LaFleur. I know LaFleur is from that tree but his offense does not resemble the Rams.

I'm not down in the hire. I've just never been a buyer of green bay as a legit contender. Said all year, they're pretenders. And in spite of what I've said about their scheme not being impressive, I do believe it works if their QB was any good and if their WRs could catch.

Eagles weren't fancy but could beat you with talent. GB isn't fancy but can beat you with speed, but then drop the ball. Our guys won't drop the ball.

Yeah, I just think you’re way underselling his passing scheme if you think it’s a product of fast guys opening things up. Watson only played in 10 games last year and wasn’t a full-time player at first. Golden was slow to be integrated (a legit complaint of LaFleur but not the scheme itself). Kraft was the best TE in football and used perfectly.

And the best part was the marriage between run game and pass game. Using motion and boots makes things tough for defenses because they aren’t tipping plays for the most part.

Maybe as a fourth WR. We need a better third receiver. A guy who deserves to have the ball in his hands.

I don’t know much about this draft yet. Who are the best WRs after the catch or doing dirty work over the middle? Omar Cooper is really good after the catch. I’ve read good things about Germie Bernard as a dirty work slot. Branch isn’t gonna do any dirty work but would be a good gadget guy. Who else is out there?

Of course this is based on keeping AJ. If he’s gone, we need to prioritize a real WR, although ideally that would be a vet.

You guys are forgetting Johnny Wilson will be back. The real reason our O struggled in 2025

Very true. We desperately needed a better third TE.

We need a better first TE, honestly. Goedert made a lot of business decisions this season. Id let him walk and do total refresh

Yes, the O line needed him!

Solid free agency but maybe to high paid. Definitely options in the draft.

I believe Whittington is a starting WR and a damn good one. But I guess you're saying someone proven.

@ManuManu check out this dirty work

Hurts trade.

Surely every OC candidate said in interviews that they'd like to have a capable QB.

Sadly I don't see them trading Hurts this year and instead waiting till the following year to be able to get rid of him.

However what would be very nice is if there's an open competition in Camp and may the best man win based off of what Sean's observations are and who will run his system better. Yes that means we might have a highly paid quarterback sitting the bench if he's not chosen but so be it.

Needs to be an open competition Let Them Fight for the spot

Yes. Because Hurts has a trade clause in his contract breaux.

Every appointment is a risk. I'd rather have someone who can scheme and be flexible than come in day 1 and call plays.  The biggest need this team has.

Playcalling is something you can both teach and learn, so providing there is someone who isn't an idiot to learn from (hello Matt Nagy type person), not a biggie - the way the team got burned this year, I don't see it repeating again. Like any good business, you have a big problem and you tend to overcorrect the next time.

Hurts wants a contract extension, getting traded is typically a good way to get that done nowadays.

I just hope mannion saw how jsn was used and uses devonta the same

Please give devonta some routes that he can actually utilize his talent with this next year

So you're saying Hurts is asking to be traded? According to who?

On the positive side, if he really does work out the nobody is hiring a HC who was a player 3 years ago and only been a position coach/coordinator for 2 years. so he should break the Jalen play caller curse

I said he wants a contract extension... so him blocking a trade would be an obstacle to that.
