These hands are made for blocking, it would seem.

Finally the breakdown of that game for Manion that I was waiting in.

Whatever offensive scheme the Eagles decide to use next season, if the offense still sputters they need to bite down on the $45M dead cap and move on from Hurts after 2026. The excuses are getting tired.

Poor victim coaches being bullied by Hurts....

When the coaching isn't poverty level, Hurts will magically be a lot more coachable.

Far too much finger pointing going on, there's enough blame to go around for everyone.

Extreme take, no one says that.

However, I've made the point several times this year that if people believe Hurts dictates the offense, then what does that say about the coaches and Howie?

People say that OC candidates don't want to work here because it will be Nick's offense, yet they just hired 2 guys from different coaching trees and influence and it's being reported they want Hurts to sink or swim in a new offense. So...Hurts isn't running the offense. People also say the offense looked different from Siri to Steichen to Johnson to Moore and Patullo, and they have to keep adjusting to a new offense based on the coach so how is that Hurts offense?

We're also saying that McLane is the most plugged in reporter per Jason Kelce, and he's reporting that Kellen Moore "had a no nonsense approach. He's tell Hurts "this is what we're doing" and was very matter of fact about it." Then that means Hurts didn't dictate the offense and it wasn't how he wanted it to look. Hurts own comments frequently say he's doing what is called by the coaches and to ask the OC about the scheme, and he's complained (along with other players) about the coaching.

How is it Hurts offense if in early 2024 they took the ball out of his hands more because of INTs and they were worried it would be a repeat of 2023 with too many INTs, so they shifted to more of a run game and limited Hurts? So the coaches are calling the shots to limit Hurts but also the offense is what Hurts wants, "his offense?" These are contradictions. So it's Hurts offense except it looks different with each OC and they've changed the offense to take the ball out of Hurts hands more often and Hurts complains about the coaches and calls to be more aggressive, take the straight jacket off, don't play to lose the game. It doesn't add up.

What is believable is that Hurts has preferences - like any player - and things he's more comfortable doing. That's up to coaching. You should coach to a players strengths while at the same time the QB coach and OC should be working with the QB to improve in things that will help the team.

Hurts has had success running plays under center, said in his pre-draft interview that he likes running plays under center yet people say he refuses to do it? The man talks non-stop about only caring about winning and doing whatever it takes for the team to win.

There are also different takes about "sources" of information coming from the team. This week alone we've heard that:

  • There are leaks in the front office for years that are solely the narrative that the front office wants in the media to sell their decisions, especially to tarnish the image of someone they're going to fire, cut or trade.

  • Others have said that players or coaches on the hot seat (like Patullo), or their agents, put out false information to make themselves look good, or to blame others.

  • Then there are reports that contradict each other, like Moore told Hurts what's what but also Hurts refuses to do certain things so which is it? People say Hurts doesn't want to open up the offense, but he himself says in interviews they "took the straight jacket off" and he wants to be more aggressive and doesn't like playing not to lose.

  • We heard that Stout was demoted, then heard that it was his decision after all.

  • Fangio is retiring, but wait he's not, but wait he's talked about it for years (but it was never reported until now). Yeah, reporters love hanging onto juicy details and not reporting them, waiting 2 years before releasing what they knew all along.

  • The Eagles are giving full autonomy to the next OC... or that's not happening at all and it's still Nick's offense

You never know what's true, there is always drama with this team.

Btw, Jason Kelce has always been a company man. He defended Chip Kelly. He ripped the fans who complained about Reid when they were losing. This year he defended Patullo and blamed the players for not executing better. Kelce is always going to say whatever is in favor of the organization.

Your third bullet point isn’t really a contradiction. Moore coached him hard and told him what to do. The straight jacket comment was about Moore giving him more freedom. Hurts refusing to do things mostly came out this year when it was Patullo. Which kind of mirrors the other report about Patullo claiming it’s not all his fault and there are other factors involved.

January of 2026 has offered Philadelphia sports:

Eagles lose to the Niners in the playoffs

Eagles lose Christian Parker to Dallas

Eagles struggle to find an OC to take the job

Rumors Fangio might be retiring

Dickerson saying he may never be fully healthy again

Sixers owner appearing in the Epstein files

Sixers treading water and unable to pull away from the pack even though they've been healthy

Paul George getting suspended for 25 games

Phillies lose Bo Bichette to the Mets

Phillies lose Ranger Suarez to the Red Sox

Phillies signing their 35 year old catcher to 3 years 45 million and can earn as much as 60 million

Dombrowski comes out and says they're content with the roster and won't be doing much of anything else and are cool running it back

Flyers can't win a game

Flyers appear content to not make any moves at the trade deadline to help their rebuild

Last remaining day of January, what else can go wrong in these final 11 hours?

Hurts has been fine with good coaching. Steichen and Moore, he played fine. Johnson and Patullo, he played like crap. No confidence in the coaching leads to hurts reverting back to the worst version of himself. Bails out of clean pockets, doesn't throw with anticipation, holds the ball too long.

As long as coaching is competent this year, hurts will be good enough. Just need a game manager with this defense, if he can be better than that more consistently than a quarter at a time then it's icing on the cake.

Those poor babies on Matt Nagy's staff claimed they were bullied and bad-mouthed by Caleb Williams during and after 2024.

They even said they could not teach him because he had a learning disability.

How'd he do with real coaches?

Lets ask Kellen Moore who had to redesign his entire scheme by the Bye Week in 2024 cause Hurts sucked giant donkey d. Had to go back to the same old passing scheme and take the ball out of Jalen's hands more and get Barkley the rock 65% of the game.

He didn't play fine with Moore. They had to stop throwing as much and get carried by Barkley.

@NOTW Hurts does not dictate the offense. He has input like all good established QBs.

The whiny losers absolutely cried to D-Gunn and others.

I hope it was Patullo and whoever else gets canned.

Its 100% the coaches responsibility to design scheme and call plays and figure out the best attack plan each week.

The QB has input but then has to perform on the field.

Lets have Calcaterra whiff 120 times is coaching fraud.

Lets throw screens without blockers to the 175 lb guy!

Lets run into the middle of the line that is crippled.

Lets run draws on 3rd and 15.

Lets run endless hitches.

Brony does a better job as an NBA player than the Eagles offensive coaching staff did in 2025.

Its very easy to understand that there is no reason or merit to blame Saquon or DeVonta for the offense.

I'm not sure why the dim need to blame Hurts other than being very dim.

BTW when is the PC?

The ONLY reason Hurts will be on the 2026 Eagles is due to his contract.

Will all the Hurts Huggers jump ship and follow Hurts to his new team in 2027?

Well, everyone saw that Patullo sucked, and they have demoted him and hired 2 outside guys to replace him. So it Patullo tried saving his ass blaming Hurts, they showed what they thought of that. They chose to demote Patullo. So the actions speak for themselves.

Also when Hurts claimed he had more freedom (straight jacket) he had better passing performances which is what everyone criticizes him about so it's again just all over the place. Hopefully the new coaches and new system will help shed light.

If the McLane report is true (if), it confirms something I've thought for a while. Hurts needs hard coaching to get the best out of him. Big and complex year for Mannion. SB winning QB who likes to play a certain way, a mature O personnel in win now mode and an environment where everything is nitpicked to infinity.

I will never jump ship but I will however do this. I will remind the haters of 3 things forever.

  1. Unlike Josh Allen, Hurts has played in a Super Bowl.

  2. Unlike Josh Allen, Hurts has won a Super Bowl.

  3. And finally unlike Josh Allen, Hurts has won a Super Bowl MVP

Big D Mahomes is coming back so this is now forever.
