It's kind of true that without very specific reporting on the information, it's hard to draw strong conclusions. I kind of took that into account. But I think the idea that Vic was going to be DC for 2023 has been fairly well established, and that was during a time where Nick still had decent power. As for the Doug thing...actually that's a really good point, I completely forgot about that - if you're referring to how Howie helped with Schwartz before dictating staff at the end. There was Schwartz. There was Stoutland coming in with Chip but lasting through two additional head coaches and numerous OC’s. There is Moorehead lasting through Doug and Nick and multiple OC’s. Just also with how Doug reportedly got fired after announcing he would be coming back at first but he didn’t agree with the assistant coaching changes. Some of those were probably recommendations that the HC or OC agreed to, but they also make it seem like Howie or someone else has a lot of say in those things. The organization as a whole has gone into this super secretive mode about everything which doesn’t help fans speculate about everything that actually is happening.

February 3Feb 3 Here is a question for those outside of Philly...when do you stop wearing the LIX gear since we are no longer champions in a few days?

February 3Feb 3 So I’ve got a different take on this whole situation than everyone. It seems there is so much chatter about tension, toxicity, and bad vibes going on inside that building with the franchise. "This is the most talented roster in the NFL and everyone wants out.” And I completely disagree with that (although my read is no more positive). This is an owner that is consistently mentioned amongst the best to work for in the NFL….one of the 2-3 winningest franchises of the last decade. I think the answer is as simple as most coaches out there think the needle/arrow is pointing down on this roster. On offense, there is a pressure to win now and most of the offensive coaches with better options don’t want to hitch their wagon to this personnel. On defense, Vic just got through a full season where he had zero margin for error and the offense killed him all year long. And now that same offense, with how expensive it is, prevents him from keeping his defense intact. So at retirement age, he’s simply questioning whether he can still keep the defense minus 2-3 more starters at a level high enough for the team to win when he’s getting no help from the other side of the ball. That’s all there is to it. No dysfunction, toxicity, drama, or news to break. This roster isn’t as good as we think it is…almost all related to the offense and the personnel departures that said overpaid offense will inflict upon the defense. There’s a lot of pressure for a single season turnaround, and most coaches are hesitant to get onboard a ship that is losing steam. IMO, nothing else to it.

February 3Feb 3 I love when people start talking about disfunction, problems within this organization, or that coaches and players don't want to come here. Winning in the NFL is tough. Trying to navigate the salary cap, injuries, drafting players, hiring the right coaches, the schedule makers, the f'ing refs....so many different things go into winning in the NFL it is just crazy....and yet, since 2000, the Eagles:4th Most Regular Season Wins (behind New England, Pittsburg and Green Bay)2nd Most Playoff Games and Wins (behind New England)2 Super Bowl Victories with 4 Super Bowl AppearancesHave they left meat on the bone? If they had signed someone, re-signed someone, hired a different coach....yeah. Especially in 2023 and last year (AND ESPECIALLY LAST YEAR AFTER NOT LEARNING FROM F'ING 2023)....But make no mistake, hearing some people on here consistently whine is laughable. No team is perfect. This league is specifically designed to try and stop teams from having continual success and yet....the Eagles have done this.
February 3Feb 3 You know what the irony in all of this is?You’ve got a very, very inexperienced OC with final play-calling and schematic say who needs to integrate with a pass game coordinator with a different background and a (somewhat obstinate) very, very experienced run game coordinator and OL coach. A QB/WR1 who hate eachother. The QB isn’t exactly a sponge when it comes to new systems and schemes. The most talented player on defense is extremely immature and coming off a bad year…and heading into 2026 eligible for an extension but may have the distraction of not getting one. You’ve got a blunt, ornery DC who is ready to retire and probably doesn’t care in the slightest about the long term financial concerns about immature players he won’t be coaching again in a matter of months. That’s not toxicity, but it’s an enormous amount of variables and balls in the air. The Eagles need CEO Siriani to keep all this together.

He’s past 65 and has money. NFL is a grind. I don’t think there’s that much more to it than thatAs for other coaches, there’s a lot of possibilities which probably vary by individual. Defensive head coaches definitely offer a cleaner line of authority than Sirriani and first year coaches are more likely to have a 2 year window. I think the Eagles definitely have a vibe that one year of mediocre performance and your done

There’s a lot of lifting to do on offense and, if it doesn’t turn around this year, it won’t be the coaches that get blamed. They’ll start fresh with their blueprint and some overhauled personnel.

Vic Fangio is the girl in this case.

February 3Feb 3 https://www.theringer.com/2026/02/03/nfl/ranking-super-bowl-quarterback-performances-tom-brady-patrick-mahomesFoles at #2, Hurts at #4 and #7
February 3Feb 3 Excerpt from the article:With two exceptional showings in the Super Bowl, Hurts has established himself as one of the NFL’s best big-game players. He has the highest completion percentage of any passer who’s played in multiple Super Bowls. He also set the Super Bowl record for rushing yards by a quarterback (70) in his first appearance and then broke it in his second with 72 yards. Hurts will need a few more appearances (and wins) to enter the discussion for the greatest Super Bowl player ever, but he’s already the greatest dual-threat quarterback in the history of the sport’s biggest game. @HazletonEagle and @Lambo :

Trade him before he gets hurt againOf all the safe bets in the world the odds that Joel Embiid cannot stay healthy for 2 playoff series in a row are extremely high. 3 or 4 series (lol) is practically 0. And when he plays he always acts like he's doing you a favor fighting through some injury with a built in excuse. And oh yeah he's also a turnover machine in the clutch beyond that.
