February 13Feb 13 Question for everyone...what impact do you honestly think that Nick Sirriani will have on the Eagles' success or failure next year? WIP, this morning, seemed to want to debate if he is on the hot seat. The irony I find in all of this...the better the Eagles look with a brand new staff controlling the offense...the better the Eagles will do...and the worse Nick Sirriani looks in my eyes. The worse the Eagles do with a brand new staff controlling the same offense we saw for 3 years under Siri....the worse the team will do...and the better Siri looks in my eyes. And the irony is that's the situation that probably gets him fired. It's such a bizarre upside down situation.

And the irony is that's the situation that probably gets him fired. It's such a bizarre upside down situation.I just dont know why fans have reduced the HC position to offensive playcalling. There is so almost unfathomably much more that a HC does. The offense can look completely different and even if Siri had nothing to do with that, Id say he has a yuge role in the teams success next year. This is like asking what the McDonalds CEO actually does since hes not the one flipping the burgers.
February 13Feb 13 Nick Sirriani point #2.Lurie and Howie like to control football operations. After Chip Kelly (and Doug and Siri)...and the way the Eagles handled each coach...this franchise would never be able to recruit a Harbaugh (not that I'd want to) or the annual flavor of the offseason most in-demand HC. Those guys are not going to want to cede that level of control to the FO. (That's fine; I'm not complaining. This dynamic works for the Eagles). My point: when you hire a head coach, even a Doug or Nick that is just happy to get the job, you roll the dice about how hard they will buck at your overtures to control them after the have success. Doug pushed back and Nick didn't.The fact that Lurie/Howie have a HC who can win in the NFL, isn't a psychopath, and is receptive to their control....he may have a longer leash than anyone thinks. Because if they do fire him, there's no telling how controllable the new guy will be.

The FO hired the entire coaching staff. The new offensive staff is dictating the scheme. Well, sort of...they were hired because of the scheme they are familiar with because the FO is dictating the scheme. Yea, he'll call the timeouts, will listen to the analytics in his ear about going for it and challenges...and these are things he generally does a good job with. But the change in this team next year is coming from everyone BUT him. Yet he's the one on the hot seat.

We're finally putting resources into positions that's been ignored for years. From a FO perspective I think it'd be desirable to a new HC. A lot of those negative reports seemed to be directed towards Nick and the coaches with some towards Hurts

He cared about fame.He cared about candy bars.He cared about his TV show.He had rooms in his house for Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. He was pretty much 1 read and run until Minnesota. He had 0 TDs and 5 picks for a 58.7 passer rating in the playoffs through age 27.He only had 123 yards rushing and no TDs.He is about as far from Jalen Hurts as a player and a leader as possible.Everything he did in Philly was on just overwhelming talent.Randall never had a Lincoln Riley, Doug Pederson, Shane Steichen, and Kellen Moore to teach him.He only had "go make me 5 plays" Buddy and KotiteRandall wasn't moving on to OC #9 while playing at a HoF level in both college and the pros to that point.I loved the guy as a playmaker but Hurts' dad instilled more work ethic in Jalen at age 10 then Randall had after Buddy and Kotite.Part 2:The Gruden and Rhodes moving on from Randall passing offense is one of the worst in NFL History.Randall was given 1 offseason, 1 preseason, and 4 starts to master the WCO.It took Joe Montana 2 full years and an 3rd offseason,.Peete, Hoying, and the rest of the Rhodes slop had 52 TDs and 60 picks before he he was thrown out like the garbage he was.The low point of the 1986-2025 Eagles offense was Ray Rhodes.ANY/A rates passing + taking sacks. It ignores rushing and rushing TDs.Randall's ANY/A in Philly was 4.76 (would be around 168th) He was 7.04 (around 8th all-time) in Minnesota.Rodney Peete's ANY/A in Philly was 4.40 (would be about 184th all time)Bobby Hoying in Philly was at 3.32 (about 207)Ty Detmer in Philly was at 5.50 (about 91st)Koy Detmer with Rhodes was at 4.61 (about 176)Hurts ANY/A in Philly is 6.58 (22nd all-time)
February 13Feb 13 The Eagles have played 56 playoff games. They were shut out once. It was Rhodes and Gruden.

I still look back on that era fondly and love so many of those players. That being said, they never won anything and so many people in my age range look back on that era with the worst green goggles of all time. Randall's highlight reel is one of the greatest you will come across but it's funny that some of the same people who complain about Hurts as a pure QB look back on Randall the way they do because he was the definition of an all time great athlete trying to play the QB position.
February 13Feb 13 Lol the disrespect to the Seahawks by the NFL. They don't get to open the NFL season because instead we will get a Wednesday night season opener in Australia between their division rivals.
February 13Feb 13 I don't think they bring in Mannion unless they're committed to a major revamp of the offense. I think Cooper plays a bigger role than Dotson the past two seasons. And Wilson if he can improve his hands. More emphasis on short passing game and RAC than 4 deep routes.I think Howie is going to draft (2) TEs, maybe sign one, and they'll spread the ball around a lot more. Ideal #2 would be blocking TE with hands to make those 5-7 yard receptions on 1st and 2nd down.I think if they go more outside zone, they won't be looking at those 330 lb specials anymore for inside zone runs and go with more athletic OL. If Jurgens returns, Kendall might get long look at OG.If Darnold can thrive in this kind of system, Hurts will be in heaven. If they use a lot more play action, Barkley could have a big bounce back season as defenses won't be able to key on him anymore, if safeties bite on the fake to him, they'll leave CBs on an island.Greater reliance on motion helps a veteran QB read the defense pre-snap.
