If the Eagles go dumpster diving at TE in free agency to not effect the comp pick formula and "draft proof" the position the way they did at some positions last off-season, I would be looking at the following guys:

Dawson Knox - If the rumors of his getting released are true I would be all over this. This wouldn't exactly be dumpster diving, but he wouldn't break the bank with guys like Pitts, Likely, Otton, Goedert, Njoku, Okonkwo ahead of him on the market. He had some pretty good years in Buffalo before they drafted Kincaid.

Noah Fant - He never took off after a couple of really good seasons early in his career in Denver but I still think there is at least a decent starting TE here under the right circumstances.

Tyler Conklin - Had a pretty horrible season for the Chargers but had a nice run with the Jets with around 50 receptions and 500+ yards for four straight seasons despite bad QB play. Had career numbers in 2023 with 61 catches for 621 yards.

Austin Hooper - Coming off of a down year but in 2024 he had 45 for 476 and 3 TD's sharing the job with Hunter Henry.

Tyler Higbee - 33 years old and has missed a lot of games over the last two seasons but was a really good receiving TE at one point and has experience in the system the Eagles are likely to run.

Charlie Kolar - More of a 2nd or even 3rd TE as he does every little as a receiver but he is one of the better blocking TE's in the league. Was a 4th round pick and put up really good numbers in college so maybe being behind Andrews and Likely effected his ability to get opportunities as a pass catcher.

I’d also include calling up the Bears about Cole kmet. Cause they could save a good amount of money releasing or trading him. And I actually think he’s good and he’s relatively young at 26.

Good thought. I would put him right there with Knox as the top target depending on the cost to acquire him. He is a legit starting TE.

A lot of people don't understand the difference between dead cap and cap hit. ESP being one. They are not the same thing.

So, to answer the question on AJ being traded before June 1 - it's possible IF they did redo Goedert's contract to cut him with a post June 1 designation (saves almost $13mm). Our starting cap is $16mm per OTC, but less than $3mm per Spotrac. Start with the average - $9.4mm and add $8.866mm from cutting MC2 gets you to $18.25mm. Moving almost $13mm to 2027 for DG gets you to $31.1mm. Now, you need ~$5.5mm for rookies, and assume $5mm for in season moves, that leaves just around $20.5mm, and trading AJ eats $20.2mm of that. So you could do it and have basically no flexibility other than cap space gained from a potential JD extension (~$8mm). Basically, you COULD do it, but then JP, Dean and Reed are gone and you really can't add anyone. Your roster would need to be filled out with rookies and super cheap options. So very unrealistic.

Is there a way for them to split this year's cap with a gaining team in exchange for lesser compensation? Kind of the inverse of NHL trades when a team gets more compensation for retaining a portion of a traded player's salary.

If the eagles WANT to move him, I feel like that would be an option they're open to. Take maybe a 2nd next year and conditional mid round pick if a team takes half or more of this year's salary. Of course, no sane team is going to do that and then give him a mega contract at 30 years old

No. His base salary is only $1.3M and his option bonus of $27.45M would be going along with him already

Pats writer said there is internal interest in trading for Brown and potentially pairing him with Diggs.

Those two headcases on the same team would be hilarious, both crybabies when they don't get the ball. What could go wrong?

What’s gonna make this situation even funnier, is Williams is going to need a new contract. He basically has no guaranteed money left after 2026. So Jerry has a chance to botch two contract negotiations with guys he traded for last offseason.

Yea in that case I don't see them doing it unless they're already committed to this being a lost season or they're really confident in their drafting ability to fill every major hole

Great, great point here from Solak about WRs for a Mannion offense. Speculation of course as we havent seen his offense for Philly yet, but based on green bay he says we will want guys who can play inside and out. Everyone ran at least 20% of their routes from the slot in GB last year.

@just relax I just learned Marlin Klein grew up in Germany as a soccer player. Transferred to high school in Georgia as a junior and picked up football. So hes gonna have good feet. He supposedly has run a better 3 cone than Colston Loveland (not sure when as the combine workout has not happened yet at the time of this posting)

I for one will be thrilled when the AJ brown trade talk stops

I know RTK will be sad lol and that will also be enjoyable roll

He'll be on the local news station. "Man found dead after hanging himself with a used sex toy from a light fixture in his parents basement. Suicide note read, I hate AJ Brown."

Thanks. I like Klein a lot but he’s so green. Give him a year and he’ll be playing at 265 and he can run and catch. All Michigan TEs can block.

I heard in a youtube video that some people have problems with the way arm measurements have been taken at the combine recently and you might have to take some of these short arm measurements with a grain of salt.

Apparently, Schefter is also reporting this too. Some teams had Bain with over 32'' while his official measurement was below 31.

Another weird note. Slippery field?

It's worse than you think - only $5mm of his 2026 is currently gteed. Another $2.656mm is gteed the 5th day of the league year. No way he's risking injury at OTAs or camp with only $7.656mm in guarantees if he gets hurt.

If Dean leaves, I know a lot of people are good with Trotter and Monden but if the board breaks a certain way I wouldnt be surprised or disappointed to see us draft another. Baun wont be here forever.

I heard this mentioned on a video earlier, and attributed to Kollmann. Now I found the original tweet. To replace someone as cerebral as Dean, this guy sounds like a potential target.

By the way, hes from Georgia.

where is he projected to go?

quite honestly havent heard of him before today. So while I dont know, I can probably tell you hes not been one of the hyped players in this class. Theres a TON of LB names Ive heard and hes not one.

Also, a bunch of those guys just dominated the combine, as well as some senior bowl and shrine bowl weeks. And he didnt work out at the combine. And hes not expected to wow.

So I suspect he is going to be a day 3 guy easy. Too many big, freak athletes ahead of him.

Most mocks and simulators have him mid RD1 to early RD2.

Would the Eagles dare go back to the well again that early at LB?

Its incredibly impressive though isnt it? The vaunted Georgia defense. And according to this, this kid was basically their defensive coordinator.

It was said that he wasnt just relaying the coach's call with the green dot. No. This guy was mainly calling the defense himself.

O'Rly????? I have never noticed his name. Maybe cause Ive not been focused on LBs early but Im still familiar with a bunch of names.
