I'm in no hurry to move him out. Depth is still not good at the position. I just have 0 interest in paying him a 2nd contract at this point.

Yep. And I like the distinction.

You only keep Nolan because of the cheaper $$, right?

Phillips is - JMO - a much better player. But he's going to cost more. A lot more.

Do not agree that he is a much better player

If we extend Phillips I’m all for moving smith jr out of here

Why? He’s on a cheap contract. Let him go after the 2026 season and get a comp pick when he signs somewhere else. That’s two wins.

Or, dump Phillips at that point if Smith progresses as hoped.

Nolan Smith has played 3 seasons for the Eagles and has been good for one of them. He's been worse than Jaelen Phillips in the pros and has a big injury history too.

The best argument for Smith over Phillips is leadership.

Best argument is that Nolan would be cheaper because he hasn't even been able to stay healthy in college or the NFL.

25. Regarding A.J. Brown, the Eagles are undecided on keeping him or not. They are definitely listening and are open to moving him as has been widely reported. But one thought around Brown possibly leaving that I hadn’t heard before was that the Eagles LOVE DeVonta Smith. They think, as good as he’s been in the NFL, he still hasn’t reached his full potential and has "another gear” he can get to. That, if Smith were given the same kind of target share as Jaxon Smith-Njigba, he could have that kind of year. They believe in his talent that much and that’s among the many reasons they would be okay moving Brown.

From that Matthew Berry article. Interesting that he, Berman and others have been pushing the "unlock DeVonta Smith” angle recently.

Eagles re-signed Graham!!

Ridiculous and simply untrue, he and Smith are very tight and he's genuinely happy for his success.

RTK just hates AJ. Looking forward to AJ being on the team next season. Maybe RTK gets so upset about it, he jumps into the Delaware River with his TO cowboys jersey on and we never hear from him again

For the short term, if the price is right, you have Phillips, Smith and Hunt. Any deal with JP will likely be easy to dump after 2 years, which is when Nolan's contract would expire (we will definitely exercise the 5th year option). So if they decide to bring JP back, they can still pivot to Nolan if he comes on in the next 2 seasons.

I'm guessing Howie has a ceiling for JP (maybe around $20mm AAV), and that will determine if he is back.

I can see that happening. Sounds like something Howie would do

Is it a goal of yours to be the world's biggest chode? If it is, you are really far ahead of quota!

He already is

Lol coming here from Facebook to ask folks from Philadelphia - how do you listen to WIP, if if at all? Do they ever talk to actual players or have them on? I want Spike Eskin and Aj Brown in the same room together.

They usually don't have players right now. Once training camp starts they will have a handful of players everyday sit down and give interviews. During the season they have weekly shows with Eagles players that last an hour or so each week.

Big news: Apparently Bryce Lance is not 24, which has been widely circulated. He’s 23 but will turn 24 before the season starts. He’s old, but not egregiously old. I think that puts him in play for a top 100 pick.
