Cap space and the comp pick are more valuable long term

Have to preserve cap space for carter and q and coop and hunt and probably davis too

It just depends how much. I find it hard to think Phillips will break the bank with his injury history, but with all this cap out there who knows?

Like a lot of guys, we'd like him back but ONLY if the price is right.

The next couple of days could be crucial. I would be kind of surprised if Phillips re-signs if he hits the market and if the reports are true the Eagles want to make a decision one way or the other on Brown before Monday. Lots of NFL movement and Howie has been radio silent which is usually when he gets involved.

I would really like for them to bring back Phillips but the more I think about it the more I am highly skeptical about giving him 22-24 million a year, let alone 25 million. There are some solid options now that don't count against the comp pick formula with Chubb and Gary, and I could also the Eagles having interest in Paye, Ebiketie, and Epenesa who won't cost nearly as much as Phillips.

And you could probably get the same production out of those guys at a lower cost as well.

There are many ways we can go in this draft. We can address OL early, secondary early... But one of my favorite scenarios would also be landing both Cashius Howell AND Malachi Lawrence in the first 2 rounds. A rush OLB and a DE to go along with Hunt, and Nolan Smith. Now you have depth for this season till you let Nolan Smith walk next offseason.

Gary has averaged 8 sacks per season over the last five and has some versatility.

Chubb is good when healthy.

Paye is pretty much the same guy as Phillips.

Ebiketie was getting about 6 sacks a year before the Falcons drafted two first round edge rushers and phased him out. His best football could be ahead of him with a new team.

Epenesa had three straight years with either 6 or 6.5 sacks and is solid against the run. He is pretty much a poor man's Phillips without the injury concerns.

Lots of good options. They don't NEED to overpay for Phillips.

A big need. Add a CB and we're right back in the hunt.

Ive always been a no TEs in the 1st round guy. Including when Pitts blew up the combine.

Now I have a question.

George Kittle, Tucker Craft. Recent examples of this Shannahan style offense with all world TEs HEAVILY utilized in the passing game but also being of vital importance in the run game as well.

What if the new offense is actually going to utilize a TE to the point where positional value actually IS there in the first round? Could Sadiq actually be in play?

That's a good question. For sure we need a TE that can both block and be a real weapon in the passing game. We needed it before and we need it even more with the new style of O.

You guys are on drugs with your asking prices for AJ Brown.

If we get a late first and a third, he's GOOOONNNNEEEEE!!!

Apparently the Pats offered exactly that and Howie said no. He wants at 1st, 2nd and a player.

Read the financial impact before June 1st. Howie needs a deal good enough to make that worth it.

I want them to keep Reed.

I wonder if he is signing at The Philly Show in Oakes PA. That is this weekend. They always have a lot of autograph signers.

Should not overpay Reed. Has to be a walkaway price.

You CAN get Klare or Delp after round 1. The elite ones are few and far between. There will be guys who can do both later at an acceptable level but the dropoff is major.

If its going to be a featured position in this offense, possibly even a vital piece of the offense, then it may actually be worth a premium pick.

Yep. I want to keep him. But at the right price.

He’s a really good fit here. I think he’d regress somewhere else.

I'm with you on this one. I'd have said look in round 2 or even 3 and certainly not round 1. However, with the new O that might change the thinking. I'm leaning toward waiting until after the 1st day at this point but ready to listen.

This is a good safety draft. I think TE and S are two positions the Eagles will sign someone of note though(if Goedert and Blankenship leave) to draft proof themselves.

I wouldn't go to 7 or 8 million for Reed. I love Reed but he is super overrated. I think being a homegrown undrafted FA who became an adequate starter is probably why. Quite honestly I don't see a huge difference between him and Epps and if my choice if Epps for 2-3 million or Reed at 8-10 million it's about the easiest decision ever.

Kraft was a 3rd round pick and Kittle a 5th. I think it's up to the scouting department to find a TE in the 3rd-5th round range that they think has the skillset to at least be a good blocker and adequate receiver, with the upside for more as a receiver.

The new OC pretty much brought in his Coaching staff. So I'd assume he be given leeway to bring in a few new players that fit his scheme.

This will be a fun off season. 😎😎

Agree. Give me Epps at 3M over Reed at 7-9M.

If they let Reed walk, I dont mind drafting a safety for competition at either spot but they need to sign a vet to be safe. Coby Bryant, Brisker, someone...

This is a good safety draft, but it takes secondary players a while to acclimate to the Fangio system.

Dont forget, Mukuba was a smart player. And he is a good player. But he had his ups and downs. Taking a early safety doesnt usually translate in to easy starter quality play, especially for us.

It doesnt matter much to me what happened in the past. When you look at the evolution of the position, and how it us used today, values can change.

If you had a re-draft, both of those guys would go in round 1.
