Regarding AJ the Eagles should do whatever is best for them. Half the good WRs in the league of selfish whiny babies.

Keeping him obviously makes the most sense from a talent and cap perspective, but if he’s going to play and act like he’s going through a depressive episode, what good is he?

Could also be that the coaches simply failed to reel him in

But Nick is supposed to be this great CEO coach ph34r

And is Painter going to pitch for the Phillies before he’s 30?

If you watched Painter pitch last season you can tell he still wasn’t ready for the big leagues. Had his moments but struggled most the season.

Strip him of C. That is the first step. Give DeVonta back his Captain spot. Let AJ be humbled as the #2.

Yea but his ability to call plays is a complete unknown. I have a hard time seeing Eagles do that again with how bad it just was with Patullo.

For clarity, my answer was in response to the other top candidates being hired first. My first choice is McDaniel, but I don't think it's likely to happen for a few reasons.

I understand the difficulty on the cap trading AJ Brown would cause. At the same time, how do you pay him $30M in cash in 2026 for someone who doesn't even want to be here? You can take the gamble and hope the new OC does whatever it is that makea him happy but you are also gambling he doesn't become a bigger distraction.

If it comes out he or his agent publicly is asking for a trade, you have to bite the bullet and just do it.

Tucker is not that great and Diaz is just flat out bad. He was awful with the Mets. He can't throw strikes. He's too wild. And them "winning" WS was more luck than anything. They are not blowing teams out, they don't even finish with the best record and they don't for a reason. Come playoff time they get all the calls because MLB wants the top market team(and now globally because of Ohtani) on the biggest stage. And those calls end up being the difference. Their "great lineup" was totally made to look foolish against the Phillies pitching.

Player for player I'd easily take the Phillies roster with Bichette over the Dodgers and to me it isn't remotely close.

You are an army of one on that one

Agreed, it would be a worst case scenario where all the top of the list guys get HC jobs or take other OC jobs.

I hope so because I'll be betting against them a lot during the season. The more on the other side, the better odds I'll get.

Good news. He has left the building without taking the job.

It sucks but it's still less detrimental to our cap situation than if he were traded. Howie has been known to paint himself into a corner from time to time.

I don't think he necessarily doesn't want to be here per se. I think the guy is an emotional wreck at times, has struggled with mental health issues in the past, and I think if this report is even true and I have my doubts, that he was doing it in a drama queen kind of way. There seems to be no bad blood between him and the organization or him within the locker room. I've felt what I've always felt. What he wants is to play in a real offense and not "I don't like being an Eagle."

Given the cap issues, I think Howie only considers it if he considers AJ Brown washed or closed to washed. But the problem remains: how do you replace him? Dotson is also a free agent, so they'd need to add two WRs this offseason. With next to no cap room after they keep some of their own. And the weakest WR draft class in over 5 years. Like, the guys going in round 1 in April would have been 2nd and 3rd rounders two years ago. It's a bad WR class. So would Howie really go into a season that might be a make it or break it year for Sirianni and/or Hurts and go "Oh by the way, I'm taking away one of your best weapons and replacing it with very little. Good luck, boys!"

Is there a way they could re-work his deal to greatly reduce the cap hit for the purpose of trading him? Not sure if that is something that can be done but if it is then ball would be in AJ's court to do that if he wants to get out of here so bad.

And the Rams even though I hate Chicago.

On the other side I'm not sure anyone is stopping Houston and that defense. If they don't crap the bed offensively they probably win it all.

Would be good to see a team that has never won a SB get it done. That would be BUF or HOU, I'm pulling for HOU in that case.

The more I think about it, the more I want Kingsbury to be the guy. Maybe I'm thinking about Jalen at OU too much, but spreading out the defense and letting Hurts get in a quick passing game rhythm usually works well. Of all the dumb things we did this season, the fascination with condensed splits and tight formations was the worst - Hurts, Barkley, the O Line and the WRs all excel is spread formations where they stress the defense horizontally. It's like Patullo thought tight splits were the new rage and ran them without any idea how.

3 year deal for JT. Great job DD. POS

Dombrowski is an absolute joke. He loses out on Bichette to a division rival and panics and gives a declining 35 years old Realmuto the 3rd year they supposedly weren't willing to give him when there was no market for him to begin with.

Turner

Stott/Crawford

Schwarber

Harper

Bohm

Garcia

Realmuto

Marsh

Crawford / Stott

Almost have to sign Harrison Bader at this point. He played his best ball with the Phillies. Actually may have beaten the Dodgers, if he didn't get hurt. At worst, with him at CF, you have a very good defensive outfield with Marsh at LF and Garcia at RF. Can hope he has a career year playing a full season here and getting most of the reps. Let Crawford ease into his role. Thinking Bader gets 2 yrs/30M in this crazy market. Watch the Mets scoop in and get him to rub more salt on the wound. Lol

Yep, but they won't.

At least McCown has played QB in this league, and wasn't just some guy's friend

That family is full of football guys (several, primarily all QB's) that have played at a high level, not all necessarily NFL level, but they are considered football royalty in East Texas.

He's gone in a year for sure. I think the question is if he's traded this year after June 1st for picks next year. I could see Howie doing that because many GMs could be more cavalier with 2027 picks

Yall are waaay jumping the gun. Settles

Down its offseason clickbait season

Desperately need something big to go right for Philly sports. Aside from the Phils making a surprise move(LOL) seems like that would have to be the OC hire. Unless Morey pulls off a surprise trade for the Sixers.

I hope we aren't about to be in one of those stretches where everything goes wrong for like a 6 months to an entire year where it's just one kick in the gut after another and it's like make it stop.

Meh. I’m taking the report at face value for discussion sake. That said, Brown was a mopey loser on the field too.

It's not Howies MO to sit by idly though. He'll get out ahead of a problem and figure out the cap in different ways. I really think they value the cash concept over cap more than most people think.
