Every NFL team should refrain from doing business with Baltimore for a year or 2...this isn't the 1st time they've had shady dealings...

basically blackball their ass in the GM world.

Yeah I think they have done some serious damage to themselves around the league.

He has the best agents since Kirk Cousins

To be fair, the locker room was such a mess last year that Alexander wasn't even the first Eagles player tonretire in season last year.

No one is going to want to deal with Baltimore ever again

Given the cowpads’ doctor was involved in the physical exam, not sure I agree with this. Maybe teams might be apprehensive of the Raiders. Then again, Jaire Alexander…….

How excited are you to keep giving this same answer verbatim for the next 6 months?

Maybe the Ravens will give the Alexander pick back in attempt to build goodwill

So, here are some quick thoughts after a busy evening:

  • Woolen: I'm a big fan of this signing, especially on a 1 year deal. I think we all agree the talent is there - he might be one of the 5 most physically gifted CBs in the league. Yes, the knucklehead factor is huge, and I'd like it more if CP were still here to work with him. But he's a massive upgrade at CB2 over Adoree (who was serviceable after a rough start), and the upside potential is off the charts. Hopefully he's motivated to ball out to get paid next offseason. He's exceptional in man coverage and we played man at the 3rd highest rate in the NFL. Low risk/commitment, potential for high reward.

  • Mundt: Yeah, I'll take it. I'd prefer we find a TE that can block and catch, but if we're going to have a blocking specialist, Mundt fits the bill. He and Latu together on the field could really work.

  • Calcaterra: I just hope it's no guaranteed money so we can cut him at the end of camp. I know he's an OK receiving TE, but just...why?

  • Goedert: Little surprised we took the cap hit - guess DG wants to test the market. DG will go see his market, maybe he comes back when he finds out there's not a big deal out there.

  • Crosby: First off, what an absolute scumbag move by the Ravens. Howie I am sure is in there, but the Raiders have the cap space to keep him and not sure they want to just turn around and take a much lesser package.

My dream scenario from here: Chubb, Njoku/Goedert and a safety. We lost OL depth with Toth leaving, but they might be higher on Kendall and Lampkin than we know. And Hinton and Williams at tackle.

Did they ever say what Carter's new cap number was? All I remember seeing was that it was "significantly" dropped from $10M, but never saw down to what.

When I was a kid, we would lean over a player after a significant collision and say something along the lines of that is what happens when you come in my part of the field. Not sure why some celebrations are not taunting and some are. Trash talking isn’t taunting on the LOS but standing over a receiver on the ground is. F Goodell. Happy to have Woolen here. This is an upgrade at CB2.

If only there was a tweet that showed NFL teams around the league and how much money they could open up by simple restructures....

This is one of the major downsides with how aggressive we push money out. Puts us in a position where we can’t make a splash or cut ties with a player.

That's because the splashes were already made, and more of them were able to be made because of the way it's structured. Not a downside at all.

Huh? Isn't signing your talented draft pick to long team deal a splash? We are able to do those because we aggressively push money out.

We aren't making splashes in FA because we already have bunch of talented players on second contracts.

Idk I've seen a few splashes in my time

Not sure their 2027 seventh given how much that team got decimated in free agency isn’t better than our 2026 6. Next year’s draft class looks deeper.

So no holes to fill and turn a weakness into a strength?

And everyone seems to ignore the risk of being stuck with a player with a huge dead cap hit (let’s define that as 20% or more over cost to keep him) that you can’t move on from, may it be because they are under performing (Alshon in his final years here) or malcontents (no one comes to mind). You are stuck with that dead weight PLUS you destroyed any efficiencies you gain with future, cheaper

Money.

There was a series of articles that suggested that Howie is betting on the new TV deals to solve that issue and extend those defense stars.

Well, yeah. Thats the whole point of borrowing from the future.

My issues is and has always been the extent of it. Most teams wouldn’t think twice moving on from Missy Elliott if they wanted to. For us it’s a difficult decision because of the extra 6 million dollar cap hit due to the contract structure.

Who the F prorates a Fing kicker.

So you'd rather have more unguaranteed money in annual salaries? Seems like a turn off for the splash free agents you are looking for.

Maybe Rog should take their 1st away anyway. That would be hilarious and teach people not to screw around like that again. Mostly I just want someone to drop another spot to the Eagles.

Now go get Crosby

I considered responding to that question yesterday calling out a reference to a graphic that was posted two weeks ago but decided to just keep my mouth shut. Poor @vikas83 , always trying to educate folks but sometimes it just doesn't stick. I have learned a lot from him and @LeanMeanGM in my short time here is it relates to cap and contracts...the business aspect of the league, and there is still so much more I need to learn. It's nice to have resources (people) like them, and so many others here to answer questions and bounce ideas off of.

Sounds like a JJ move.

I have said nothing about guaranteed money. My issue is with the overly aggressive use of void years to push money out further and the risky side effects it may cause. Unlike the trolling ankle taper I know you recognize the difference.
