Nah. He dropped passes and dogged it much of the year. I blame him for that. No one else. The biggest game of the year vs 49ers against a mediocre defense he bombed. On top of it, don't think he ages well and guy is about 29. Guy is most likely best at slot receiver going forward. Doesn't beat anyone consistently 1 on 1 with the go route anymore. Basically a tightly contested jump ball when it's thrown his way. Needs a perfectly thrown pass or forget it, he's not going to be laying out. It may be due to physical limitations.  Not sure. I just didn't see the fight in this guy last year. Very concerning. If you're gonna talk the talk you better walk the walk.

I don't think it's fair to say he "dogged it." You could look at any player on offense last season under a microscope and find plays where they didn't look great. That's what happens when you struggle. Nor can you declare a guy past his prime after one down season. Not enough of a sample. And it certainly isn't a large enough sample to give up one of your best players for far less than what you have decided is worthwhile value while you're in a championship or bust season.

Was Goedert dogging it too? Goedert didn't block for crap the past season. What about Mailata whenever he got bowled over by guys he'd normally pancake. Or Barkley when he tried to cut it outside instead of hitting the hole where it was supposed to be.

The offense had a bad season. You're putting way too much into a one year sample. The Eagles have the leverage here because they have the player and don't have to move him.

McKee gone

This doesn't make a lot of sense to me unless McKee is getting traded. You figure they'd draft a QB and he's making a lot for a QB3.

Another ginger QB controversy!

$4 million 2026 cap hit ($3.9mm salary, $100k workout bonus) unless we restructure the salary into a bonus. Could get the cap hit down just below $2mm.

Always a good idea to have a backup QB with the same skill set as the starter to run the same plays. ^_^

AJ has been slowing down for a couple years now with a bad hammy/knee. I don't see that getting any better. Also, I do believe Hurts and him are just not gonna get on the same page. Just my opinion there. If the league thinks he wants out, a team like the Patriots will just wait it out. In June, he will be cheaper. They don't need him til September. So they wait a little. I don't think Howie has much leverage here at all.

Also, Waddle is 1.5 years younger than AJ with less baggage as well. Anyone who gets AJ knows he will maneuver for a huge contract extension. Very different circumstances. So not only does new team have to fork out large draft compensation, but huge dollars being given out. An AJ deal is more complicated.

Wasn't expecting that

Yeah that seems really dumb…

Does he know the system or something?

What’s Howie been smoking recently ?

Seems to infer they aren't trading McKee. If not, just continues the trend. The Eagles are usually good for one bizarre trade at QB per year. They seem to value QB3 more than most people given Hurts' history of injuries.

That’s step 1 of getting AJ on board.

To me it suggests otherwise

Meh. Cuttable and keepable either way. Can't be mad at it

Just would have expected a more mobile QB in the room

Unless Hurts is still saying he doesn't want to run anymore ph34r

Perfect timing really. He didn’t look so good when given the chance. Not saying that means a lot for his career but his value wasn’t going up.

Replacing Howell with another journeyman backup for experience. If Hurts is injured and McKee starting, they have a capable #3. If McKee traded, you have a decent #2. And can draft a 3rd to develop.

Howie likes options at the QB position (don't call it a factory or university anymore ha ha).

I fully expected us to take a developmental Qb in the 4-6th round this year. Imo I’d deal McKee if they got enough value. There’s a chance you get a comp pick when he leaves in 2027 offseason. Also a chance that pick isn’t a 3rd rounder either

Farewell McKee. Hope we are getting a 2nd for you.

In a vacuum im annoyed to trade for Dalton.

In reality, Im hopeful and excited about a potential return for McKee.

The Howell trade was the result of circumstances they found themselves in.  McKee injured and unable to dress heading into the opener.  If they were keeping McKee it would make more sense to take a shot on a developmental guy in the draft.

Trading for Dalton now seems to signal that McKee will be on the move at some point prior to the draft

Seems like simplest answer is the correct one.

IF we can get something, the best value is now, because his value is not going to improve up to and into camp.

And if not, he's still our QB2 and we needed a QB3, for a reasonable price.

We are going to end up getting just a 4th for McKee I would guess and that will suck.

The Eagles have rarely brought in a mobile backup to hurts. Which seems to imply that Hurts was never an ideal QB for Siri.

But we also know the Shanahan system doesnt seem to require it. Its more reliant on going through reads and passing the ball. This makes sense for Mannion's offense. Behren Morton is a guy who stands in the pocket and reads the field too.
