There are 2 big moves coming up that may decide the next few seasons. Trading AJ Brown for the right deal and finding his replacement. And extending Jalen Carter at the right time at the right price or maybe even trading him. Our Superbowl contention status is hanging on to dear life. And that's how I will judge Howie going forward. Does he get these 2 moves right and are we closer to a Superbowl? Everything else is noise. We have distanced ourselves from that status in just 13.5 months. He's good at rebuilding on the run so we will see.

I'd feel much better about this team in 2026 if they got an Edge. Whether it's Greenard or someone else, but I think if they do it's probably coming via trade. I don't think the offense is going to be good next season. Or I should say I think it's likely it won't be, I can't rule it out. I just think too much has to go right. So this team I think again will have to be carried by the defense and that to me is far less likely with a weak pass rush.

If Carter is healthy our edges will be more effective this year. If hes not, we really better have improved edge rushers. Namely, Nolan Smith need to be upgraded.

Id like to have an upgrade either way. With Carter healthy and improvement at edge it just wouldn't be fair for other teams. That is ideal.

Read is on his third contract, the Eagles did extend him once. He has always been a bit of a liability because of his speed. His communication skills aren’t enough to warrant an extension. They have been trying to replace him for a while. Drafting Brown, drafting Mukuba, trading for Carter and how they use Coop. With questions on the edge and at CB2, I understand why the Eagles want to get faster at S.

He almost cost them the Rams game in the divisional round but got bailed out by Jalen Carter.

If he didn't miss the extra point in the 49ers game we could have gone for a game tying field goal from the 49ers 21 instead of having to go for it on 4th and 11.

He is the worst kicker in the NFL at this point and a total liability. In an era where kickers have never been better and are hitting 60+ field goals with ease and regularity, we can't confidently depend on him from any range at this point.

Who are the available kickers you would want to replace Jake Elliott with? Before the recent rework, it would be $5M in dead cap with a post June 1st cut, and then you still have to go out and sign a kicker.

Gonna be blunt, I just don't think Nolan is very good. I don't think he has the body type in the NFL to be a full-time Edge. I think he's a situational pass rusher who is injury prone. Maybe Hunt improves, but I think this is one of the weaker pass rush duos in the NFL.

This is a make or break year for Nolan. He was clearly still hampered by the triceps injury last year. Need to see if he can stay healthy and recapture the level of play from the 2nd half of 2024.

Pick up his 5th year option and see how he responds.

He was a beast his rookie year and then just tailed off. Don't think he brings much to the passing game either so not really sure of the point. I guess he's just depth/camp body and hoping he can regain some of that rookie season form

I agree on Nolan. And Im not comfortable relying on Carter's health either. Id love an upgrade at edge.

I do think Hunt takes another step this year and becomes a 10+ sack guy.

Im pretty confident edge upgrades are available in this draft too. But eagles types of edges, like a Jacas- dont think hes going to come in and be a double digit sack guy.

I want Howell, and/or Lawrence who will come in and immediately provide constant pressure.

I believe he could thrive with fewer snaps. He plays with reckless abandon. One of many reasons they need another true starting Edge. I think asking Nolan to be "the guy" is more unfair to him than anything else. Putting a lot on the plate of a guy who has shown he can't handle it. Not that he doesn't have the mentality for it, his body isn't made for it. And I think they know this otherwise they wouldn't have been willing to pay Phillips 25m per season. But when you lose out, you gotta pivot. And if they can't find a trade, they better go Edge in round 1. I don't care how dire OT is going forward. If they blow a pick on Proctor who has bust written all over him and Parker, Faulk, Mesidor, Howell are still on the board, they are going to regret that for a long time.

He hasn't been good, but calling him the worst kicker in the NFL is a bit too much.

Kickers are hard to judge, they can be perfect one season, and completely fall off the next one. That's why you need a bigger sample than just one season IMHO. Most teams change kickers all the time, but Jake has provided stability for 9 years. Considering he's arguably the best in Eagles history, I think he deserves at least one more season to prove he can get back in form.

I just see trading (or not trading) AJ as a massive philosophical and functional tipping point for this team. We don't know exactly what this new offense will entail, but it seems the consensus expectation is that there will be sweeping changes in scheme, play-calling, philosophy, and the demands on the players.

Coming from not exactly Jalen Hurts' biggest fan, I assumed we'd want to give him every chance to succeed and prove himself in this new offense. If you subtract AJ Brown from this offense...youve got a brittle OL that was trouble all year in 2025 and is only one year older. You've got Barkley wearing out the last of the tread on his tires. You've got Goedert who will be one year older, more injury prone. You've got Devonta Smith who is an very good WR, but not really a WR1 or game breaker as a pro. Hollywood Brown, who I do like, is really more of a shifty WR3. That's not a good supporting cast, at all, for Jalen Hurts in a brand new offense. It won't be a pretty year on that side of the ball and it'll be unfair to the evaluations of both Hurts and the viability of the new scheme. Then we'll just pivot from "was it Hurts or Patullo/scheme" to "was it Hurts or the poor talent we surrounded him with"?

If we can get Boutte in trade with Pats I like our trio a good bunch. Nice speed overall and solid route running. Good versatility with all 3 who can move around X, Z and slot positions.
