Even om 2023 and 2024. And it's not as easy to get a guy more open when they're only running curls and verticals. Nor is it prudent to have a fully formed opinion after one season. People thought Moss with the Raiders and Adams with the Jets were washed too. It's not really one season. 2024 was solid. But missed 4 games with knee and hamstring issues. Tagged under "injury management" for much of the season. I think he's still a pretty solid receiver (but nothing like Prime AJ), but can gain a nice draft pick or 2 and use this for either another receiver or other team needs. He needs to go get his bag and be the unequivocal top dog somewhere. Which he may or may not be at this point. Very debatable. The injuries and aging are real here.

That's why the numbers skew that way. We throw less when winning = less targets for Smith, Brown, everyone...

Is the intent there? Sure looks like it but it's pretty difficult to prove intent without documented contact I imagine. If somebody found emails, texts that sort of thing would be another story.

March 31Mar 31 The sense here is that there is an agreed upon AJ trade with Pats. Everyone saying all the right things not to get in trouble with the league. AJ quiet as a mouse, as his representation are working hand in hand with Howie not to ruin this. He's about to get paid , he's gonna be really quiet. Of course. Watch their faces when they are talking. And there's no real denial here of any of these rumors. Just vague language. Kinda comical.

March 31Mar 31 The news of BG's pending retirement vs return is just too monumental to compete in the same news cycle as the NCAA tournament and war in Iran. When the time is right, they'll push for a nationally televised decision about his second post retirement (or is it 3rd?) year of football.

My argument with keeping AJ is that they need every ounce of help they can get to bring a viable offense to the table next year.I think we are looking at a worn down Barkley and league average or worse play from up to 4/5 of the OL next year plus likely fewer games from Goedert. That can’t be overcome with a new scheme and a pat on the back that we’ll be fine without the leading receiver from the last 4 years. My view is the offense is less likely to have a top 5 passing offense with AJ than they are likely to have top 5 rushing attack without him. I don't think Howie is done building the roster. It's clear they are going to target o-line in the draft. My guess is they will also target a TE and WR that could contribute. There is projection every season with every position. I do think there is a reasonable pathway for the rushing attack to return to form if Jurgens and Dickerson are healthy. Barkley only had 317 touches last season. He had 280 carries. There's nothing to suggest he was less effective as a runner. I do think they want to rotate him more often but Bigsby is a decent number 2. I do think Howie and the coaches need to step in if Dickerson and Jurgens are not playing well. My guess is that was not going to happen with Stoutland, My hope is that Howie will add a veteran in training camp if they look to be an issue. With respect to the passing attack, I think Devonta will be more productive with more targets and Hollywood Brown can fill in some of the gap.

I feel that every single metric suggests that Barkley was less effective as a runner.I think we are asking the offense to defy gravity and physics by believing that Barkley can still be that effective and that we can get pro-bowl seasons out of Dickerson and Jurgens.I see an over-the-hill RB, a below average OL, and one good WR that could be two if they don't trade Brown.
