Thursday at 03:47 PM1 day Seth Joyner has historically defended Hurts time and again. That he is even hinting that Jalen is a bit of a problem by going rogue means it's probably more than just a "bit" of a problem. I hope Jalen accepts the roles everyone has, embraces the new offensive system, and thrives. We'll see.

People only take issue with reporters and sources when an article says something they don't want to be true.

Why would they extend him this offseason? 2026 is fully guaranteed, 2027 is partially guaranteed, and there is no way to save cap space with an extension. The Eagles have zero incentive to give him an extension, and Jalen has zero leverage or really reason to ask (unless he demanded a raise). Jalen's contract was always an issue for 2027. McLane remains a complete imbecile with no understanding of cap and contracts.

The people pushing that narrative claim it will reduce his cap hit, which is obviously false. There's no incentive for anyone to do an extension this offseason - even Jalen would rather have a bounce back year and do it next season.Anyone with a functional understanding of contracts or math knows this is a ridiculous topic.

But it was not that long ago people were saying he was underpaid, out of the top 10 in salaries, Purdy, Dak Herbert, Love etc getting paid more and he deserved a new deal coming off being the SB MVP. Obviously with how last season went it changed a lot of things but it was never publicly said one way or the other until I saw that in the McLane story. Eagles lock up players all the time with multiple years left on their contract. They did it with Brown not that long ago. It wouldn't shock me if they wanted to extend him now where they might get a small discount coming off last year. It wouldn't make a ton of sense for Jalen besides more guaranteed money but the fact they don't have any plans seems to suggest this year is more or less a prove it year in the Eagles F.O. eyes.
Thursday at 04:17 PM1 day Just a reflective post on roster construction...We can't see it...it usually takes about 5 years go get the proper aerial and historical perspective on this things, but we are in the midst of an NFL paradigm shift. For about 22 years, the NFL was all about the franchise QB. Your superbowl chances were exactly as good as your franchise QB and the protection/weapons you provide him with to generate a relentless aerial onslaught (pass protection and fast WRs that get open). That was the ONLY reliable blueprint to the SB. Defenses were generally helpless to stop those truly elite, QB driven offenses.Defenses evolved by selecting 230lb 4.3 edge rushers in round 1. Run defense and tackling became a general afterthought when scouting DBs. Anything to slow down these pass attacks. And then those franchise QBs retired, but the next generation had the same mega contracts. These new QBs dominated the salary cap in the same way but could not be one-man shows on offense. Now, the best teams in the league, in any given year, tend to be the teams with stacked, balanced talent and not stereotypically elite QBs (who are on more manageable contracts).

Anyone remember how he did ?In point of fact, Williams did NOT start in the last game of the season; Pryor (79) did. Williams (73) came in on the third series. He was clearly better than Pryor, more mobile, and tougher against an outside rush although he got progressively worse there as the game wore on. His anchor needs work but, considering it was his first game action since pre-season, he did fairly well.
Thursday at 04:41 PM1 day A maddening quote from the Fowler article on Hurts: "A source close to Hurts said the QB needs coaches who will "check him," opining that Hurts had "too many 'yes' people around him" this past season.”Anyone who follows the Eagles closely could’ve told you this. Pretty much all our SEC stars have said publicly they prefer tough coaching. To hire Patullo was always organizational malpractice. And maybe Loeffler too, though I’m not sure how Parks Fing Frazier could be any better.

Without knowing for sure, my feeling is that there's no big problem. Just a QB doing his own things which is something all of them do to varying degrees. We all should probably wait and see how the new offense functions before imagining big problems..

Considering the Eagles cleaned house, it seems like there is an axe to grind. That doesn’t mean it’s wrong, but I wonder how exaggerated the complaints are.

I'm not a Hurts guy but most QBs are divas. You want that cocky/confident/they know best attitude. When you put that with a weak/unqualified OC it's going to come out more because he won't respect that or listen. Do I think Hurts won't respect good ideas or strong leadership that explains why they are doing things? No, he wants to win.
