The sources could be anyone. There were probably a lot of unhappy players in that locker room after they wasted a season with a terrible offense. And multiple reporters have said that several players were frustrated with Jalen Hurts, Devonta included. Though I don't think he'd dime, I think he'd probably be last on my list of people who'd leak stuff. Him and Lane.

There are issues with Hurts, coaches, AJ Brown, etc. There were issues with Wentz. And yet, the team is winning and in this era of winning their first 2 Super Bowls, there's all this controversy.

One way to think about it is something that came out a few months ago about a high standard and expectations, and that not everyone can handle that. Philly fired Doug after winning their first SB. A year after winning a 2nd SB, making the playoffs but losing in the first playoff game resulted in firing the OC, and completely changing schemes to McVay/Shanahan style.

It's possible that some of these "sources" who don't like Hurts demeanor are scrubs from other teams not used to winning atmosphere. Remember, the Dolphins (a loser organization) players didn't like Vic Fangio and our defensive players love him and embrace the tough, old school style. Complaints about Hurts locker room presence over the years have been that he's stoic, keeps to himself, doesn't smile. Big deal. This year players were saying that's improved, that Hurts has more comradery with his teammates (but those reports and sources don't count I guess).

There have been conflicting reports about Hurts taking coaching. He worked with Nick Saban who was tough and he liked him. He's a coach's son who in many comments defers to the coaches. Even the ESPN article itself had sources that were defending Jalen, saying he in fact is open to things like motion and doesn't dissuade coaches from using them.

The four verts play call: we all saw how Jalen looked pissed about the play call, it was discussed a lot. Now someone is saying that was Jalen's idea? Someone who would have been close enough to hear that play out? (Even so, coaches are in charge and call the plays regardless of what the QB says he likes or doesn't like, do your job).

All season fans complained about Patullo's play calling - including things that had nothing to do with Hurts like run plays and, TE personnel usage. Early in the season Hurts was shown yelling at Patullo on the sidelines...then the offense played better after that. In the past when the offense has performed better in the passing game, Hurts said they "took the straight jacket off." There were plays Jalen called audibles that led to success including TD plays that other players on record gave credit to him for calling.

If Jalen needs stronger coaching and to be told what's what, good, then be a coach. Be a leader. We've said often that Siri needs an OC to push back on him as well, because what did Siri do all season to fix the offense? Now they're hiring someone outside and changing schemes altogether.

Every QB has preferences and will voice them. Then it's up to the coaches to decide what to do. Do your job, lead the team and call the plays that play to the strength of your players. People jump on these comments to criticize Hurts but don't step back and also criticize the coaches. You're the CEO Head Coach and you just let your QB dictate things? You're the OC running the offense but your QB doesn't prefer something so you have no spine and don't call the offense the way you see fit? Those are coaching problems too. Of course, the article pointed out that Kellen Moore utilized a lot of motion plays and they were 11th in the league...so...Jalen took that coaching.

"A dozen sources." It's obvious the main source was Patullo. After he was demoted/fired/whatever after the season a similar report from "a source" came out defending Patullo. The rest it similar stuff we've heard. And there aren't enough quotes in the article attributed to each "source." Even if some players have problems with him, others don't and publicly go on record defending him. Star athletes are competitive with big egos and don't always get along.

I just hope this season with a brand new scheme and offensive coaches sheds light. If Hurts really is resistant and the coaches can't make it work with him, he'll be gone. If the offense flourishes and they do things like motion and under center, throws over the middle and other things that will show there is change.

I mean, we have video and pictures. Is it really that hard to "register eye contact"?

Jalen Hurts was amazed at what Kevin Patullo was saying to him with the game on the line 😬, Nick Sirianni even was shocked 😅

Well, it's more than looking at eye contact. The claim is that Jalen called the play. Or suggested the play. Who would know that?

Over a dozen sources interviewed for the article.

Some of which defended Hurts too.

Maybe Siri. Maybe McKee. Could be one of over a dozen sources who all realize Hurts hurts the offense.

The thing I don’t get is that it’s on video and audio no? Like I don’t think Hurts made a suggestion there.

The drama is tired though. If he’s causing it he can go with AJ. 😄

Yes, I've been seeing some people say Howie may have to cave and just accept a 2nd or something. I will guarantee that doesn't happen. For one, he's already turned down a #1. He's not going to reject a #1 pick(I believe the offer was 2026's) and then turn around and trade him for a 2nd later. That's how people negotiate in the bizarro world. He will hang on until he gets his asking price. We'll see if the dynamics change after the draft from the Patriots side. Also will be interesting to see if the Eagles draft a WR earlier or trade for one so they have a pivot already on the roster in the event the Patriots do eventually meet the high asking price. If not, they are gonna be backed into a corner with no pivot move for a WR if the Patriots finally cave in July. Not exactly going to be a lot of options for them at that point.

Howie will hold the position and wait for the right deal. It would be wise to draft a WR early as well. No matter what happens to Brown this off season, he would be gone next year. Having a rookie to learn this season will make the transition more efficient.

Probably a lot of people. I doubt they are tight lipped internally as they are externally.

Agree. Everyone knows everything about everyone at the work place. There’s usually more gossiping than actual work going on.

In about 4-5 years there will be backup players no longer in the league going on podcasts to share the real truth about what went on behind the scenes.

We talk about 2027 picks in regards to AJ but I wonder if come June, 2028 comes more into play.

Say the Eagles get a 2027 3rd and a 2028 1st. Would that be an acceptable return?

I think any trade that results in 2 top 100 picks is a good deal.

Yes and no. It's almost two years away of when you can use that pick on a player unless you flip it for something else. But I still think most GM's would want to see where it lands before flipping another teams first.

It would be a good deal for Howie who has the job security. It would probably be a bad deal for a GM like Shoen who might not.

I doubt most fans would care if the refs were replaced. Yeah, I read that the NFL has offered a 6.45% – 6.7% increase annually (which they should honestly take), but they want an increase over 10.3%. I'm all for the union and fighting for stuff, but that ask is absurd.

I think people would complain non-stop if there were any bad calls and blame the replacement refs.

Lurie on AJ Brown: "AJ's an Eagle...we'll see what happens down the road."

Reaction: he's definitely gone.

Lurie on Hurts: "I love Jalen. There’s no bigger fan of Jalen than me. Clutch gene, absolutely. MVP the Super Bowl 13 months ago. Should have been MVP the Super Bowl right before that. Exceptional and … incredibly dedicated to the game, to winning and being a huge winner. And I love everything about him.”

So the reaction to Lurie praising Hurts is...?

What do you all think of this statement...

Jalen Hurts will not be in Philly, playing at the level of 2025 with that productivity, for more than 2 years. Either the level of play and passing statistics/volume jump, or he's not here.

I would think the biggest Hurts supporters would agree with that because they think he'll be better. And the biggest Hurts haters would agree with that because they think he won't be here long term.

Either way, something major will change from last year.

It’s possible they genuinely like he but he doesn’t want to be here. It’s also possible they can’t stand him but don’t want to hurt is trade value and or production.

Big walk off for the Rook..

Yes I think they'll go younger at QB with a rookie contract as soon as that's financially feasible. They've made changes to QB and coaches in the past, they're not afraid to make moves there. I think that despite the reports from unnamed sources, the on the field play and performance of the offense speaks for itself. The natural move this year was to change OC given the contract to Hurts. It makes sense to bring in new voices now and evaluate everyone. We expect AJ to be traded post June 1st but if for some reason he isn't, he'll be gone before the trade deadline or after the season. Assuming the new coaches work out, they'll be looking to go younger and cheaper on offense.

The Eagles won a SB with a dominant defense and run game, and doing just enough in the passing game. The Seahawks just did the same. The O line needs to get younger and healthier. They will draft a TE to eventually replace Goedert and get to see him in this offense as well.

They've moved on from QBs consistently in the past as well. Traded McNabb and Wentz. Drafted Kolb and Hurts in the 2nd round when they had starting QBs locked in. They fired Doug after he won a SB. They're not afraid to make changes and stay ahead of the curve.

Frankly, Hurts may benefit from a change of scenery as well. We'll see how this year goes. Most QBs in the league are pretty mid and teams keep giving chances to retreads and former high round picks in hopes they can salvage them. I could see a team making an attractive enough trade for Hurts and the Eagles to utilize a rooking contract at QB with a good O line, decent skill players, good coaching and dominant defense.

There's also Fangio: does the defense continue to be great after he retires, which may be after this season? Does Mannion light it up and immediately leave for a HC job and the offense is back to where it was? Does Grizzard take over, and if so is he effective enough? A lot of questions to be answered.

I agree with that assessment. Howie definitely doesn't worry that he might not be around to make that pick.

I get his point, but breakdowns of offensive line prospects don't get views. No one gives a crap about that stuff. People have to realize most of the sports fan world are not football geeks like that. Ever see someone break down OL film? it's Fing boring. They didn't pay him millions to have him break down technique on a guy from Fing Arizona State that 5 people in the country are going to watch.

Fun and ad libbing is what gets views and clicks. It's what has made Kelce's podcast so popular. They're going to use him in that fun guy kind of rol

Look at his contract over the next 3 seasons:

If Hurts throws for 4,000 + yards, and the Eagles make it deep in the playoffs next season, I think he probably gets extended next offseason. On the other hand, if Hurts struggles next season Hurts's camp may push for a trade. Like AJ is now, they may think Hurts won't be able to get another big payday with the Eagles. The AJ rumors we are dealing with this offseason may be Hurts rumors next offseason. What if the Eagles get to the Super Bowl with Hurts but his play looks a lot like the 2024 season? Maybe they win it again. Hurts's camp wants an extension and the Eagles do not want to pay him big money past 30. They look at the cliff dive Russell Wilson's made after age 32. Howie wants to sell at a high point and replace him rather than take a chance he limits their ability to stay competitive.

I’ll give Jalen credit for having a call in mind for 4th down; Foles knew where to go in that situation… but for the hitches and verticals haters, doesn’t this kind of point to where these tendencies are coming from.

Trade hurts next year. Bring in Chambliss with the same offense and we win a lot of games
