UPDATES; as of Friday package of two tshirts (for son's GFs first game) moved from UPS to USPS and scheduled for Saturday delivery by 7PM (but given USPS now had the package, should be early afternoon) packaged did not arrive. Status switched to Sunday by 7PM delivery. Yesterday (Sunday) mid morning, checked status (occasionally have Sunday mail service here) status changed to delivery on Monday by 7PM. Son & G/F went home to S Texas after the game yesterday. Revamping the christmas list this year. also found myself looking at the niners gear on the sidelines real close (as well as the game jerseys) and either i'm just jaded or everything really does look cheap (ie. sleeve stripes looked really bad for cowboys, 49ERS wasn't under the shield on SF jerseys)

October 30, 2024Oct 30 So, I open the refrigerator this morning and it smells like it's been off for a little while (You know the smell of a 'stale' refrigerator). So I open the freezer and feel some of the stuff in there and sure enough, thawed out! Ugh! I think it's the compressor, which came with a 10 year warranty. Right now, I've had it for 9 years and 6 months, so barely still under warranty (if it's the compressor). But now 'm without a refrigerator until at least November 11... well, not entirely. This happened in 2021 too, so I had bought a small 'Dorm Fridge' back then. I still have to throw all that food away though, and that's REALLY annoying with the way Inflation has killed all of us in the wallet

Especially with an 88 year old who's still on daily chemo. Exposing her to potential food poisoning when I could just throw it all away and bite the $ bullet, is an easy choice. If the freezer food was still frozen, I wouldn't think it was down very long. But most of it was completely thawed. That means that it was down for 12 to 24 hours before I realized it. (mostly sea food, chicken and some pork). I likely threw some stuff away that didn't need to be, but I can't take that chance.
October 31, 2024Oct 31 The other ugly part is you have to wait a few days...... because of course now nobody stocks a damn thing.

Grocery wise, it'll probably cost me between $300 and $600 when you take into account the cost of the disposed of food and then the cost to replace it. Some of it may have been ok, but I'd rather spend the money than take the chance, even if it might be a remote chance.
October 31, 2024Oct 31 I kept seeing the search prompt saying that walking pneumonia cases among kids are spiking, then my youngest came down with it a couple of weeks ago and it’s all over her school. Keep an eye out because it’s probably in your kids school too. It’s not a devastating illness but it’s enough to have kept her home 6 of the last 8 school days.

November 5, 2024Nov 5 Just realized that we're closing in on 5 years since the old EMB died and was reborn here so I did a quick, rough estimate on what we've spent to keep the EMB online since April 15th, 2020. We're closing in on $10,000.00 at $9,693.00.

Donations are awesome and appreciated, but using the Amazon link on an ongoing and regular basis can do even more (if everyone does it), and it doesn't take money out of your pocket (other than the items that you're buying on Amazon). Between Amazon and the AdSense, all of the bills can be paid. I'll have to check the numbers, but I think both of those revenue sources are bringing in just enough to cover everything. If not, it's 98% there. That's been my goal since day one... to make us self sufficient through those means.
November 6, 2024Nov 6 I can donate more of my Wife's money. 😃 I think my Wife gives Jeff Bezos around 10% of her yearly salary.

I don't buy much from Amazon (other than their stealth yearly Prime charge) but I don't think anything on my end auto-links when I got to amazon.com in my browser, and it doesn't cross my mind to come here first to click a link. Is there a process to auto-link my account?

Is there a process to auto-link my account? You just have to go to Amazon via our link. Nothing that can be set automatically (that I'm aware of). But if you think about it, click our link and that sets a 24 hour cookie. So anything bought on Amazon within 24 hours, we get whatever the commission would be.

Leave the item in your cart. Close that page, come to the EMB and click the amazon link, and then complete your purchase. Ive done that many times. Almost never remember to go through here first.
