Chicken & egg.  The uselessness of Clement and Scott was part of the low run count.

What was the excuses last year? Year before? Cant always blame it on we dont have a "great" RB. Cause we never will. We didnt have a great RB in 2017 but we made it work when Doug wasnt the main guy scripting.  Doug is just not a good OC. Hes a good HC but horrible OC that does not care about running the ball.

I loved the Sweat draft pick, like Sweat the player, and want to see him start over Barnett.

To call him a dominant 10+ sack edge rusher is from the same thread of logic that labeled Jamar Chaney the best MIKE in the NFL, Pryor a monster, JJAW the mold of Mike Thomas, and the people that rattle off the names of all our crappy offensive weapons and say "how will defenses defend ALL of them?"

He's not this until he actually does it. With Curry hurt, Barnett week to week and Graham likely missing a game, Sweat has the opportunity to put up numbers with our DTs collapsing the pocket. Either way, we need at least one DE to step up and be worth paying.

If Dougs gameplan is to throw to Corey Clement 22 times a game I’m not watching a single f’ing snap

Sidney Jones was just put on the active roster for the Jags.  What do we think if he looks good when he plays ??

How did so many DB coaches fail?

Random but Mark Ingram and JK Dobbins combined for 3 yards/carry yesterday. Think that stopped the Ravens from forgetting about their run game?

They combined for 17 carries. Our RBs combined for 16.

Zeke got fed.

Regarding the option to "throw it away", it's not always as simple as blaming the QB. To do so would require the stipulation that the QB actually senses when and where the pressure is coming from, and then has either broken the pocket, or has an outlet designed into the play itself to facilitate throwing it away without risking a grounding penalty.

Sensing pressure while efficiently going through your progressions is quite difficult to do if your OL is being caved in or allowing free rushers repetitively. It'll rattle even the most seasoned of QBs. And if the play itself doesn't have a designated route near the sidelines, (e.g. an "abort the play" outlet valve, or a check down to the RB) then taking a sack is all but inevitable if the QB can't break the pocket. Watching the offense line up in a bunch set, and then blaming the QB for not throwing it away in the 2 seconds it took for a free rusher to crash into him, is pretty hilarious.

Which brings me to my last point, he looks like he's lost a significant amount of mobility. Not sure if it's the added weight from the offseason, the injuries adding up, or what, but instead of trying to roll out of the pocket to make dudes miss, he was just bending forward and turtling up when someone was bearing down on him. That's not a good sign, and is basically a neck injury waiting to happen.

The only 2 sacks I would put solely on Wentz was the one by Montez Sweat on the bootleg ( that play was dead as soon as they were 1-on-1; Wentz needed to throw it over his safety outlet’s head out of bounds), and the sack on 3rd and long that set up the 54-yd FG try — QB has to know not to take the sack there.

He didn’t take off with the ball a single time in the game — which was alarming to me as well

Although I don’t think he’s been listed on there for awhile...

Throw in another 4 from Edwards then of course LJ is running it. The Browns apparently looked atrocious on offense so their starting field position was much better as well.

My point is you can’t completely vacate the run. You have to keep the opposing defense honest.

Didn’t take off, Doug had him sit in the pocket all game. Guessing they are just lying about his groin injury and it’s worse than they let on

For those who think the Hurts pick was wasted, we will all find out very quickly if Wentz is getting sacked 5+ times per game.  IMHO having Sudfeld in the game is surely a waste.

Did we not keep Washington honest? Did they not honor play action?

This honor the run game stuff is so overblown. It’s not like they played five in the box and we refused to run.

I suspect Wentz thought Scott would pick up the blitzer.

I think he tried to take off but was simply unable to do so.

Picking Hurts was a waste in the short term. Especially since they didn't even activate him and it doesn't look like they plan to use him in a ''Tayson Hill role.'' Long term though, it might be a great pick when you consider that reality is starting to really set in that Wentz isn't who we all thought he was.

Wentz is a top 10 QB if he and Doug are on the same page.  If they truly have a good relationship I believe Wentz should be telling Doug today what a lot of posters here are saying ....

"Our OL was overmatched, I didn’t have my starting RB — we need to get the ball to our play makers faster, instead of pretending Reagor and Desean can only be thrown the ball 30+ yards downfield”

Ruggs, Reagor and Lamb all looked good yesterday. Aiyuk DNP. Pittman, meh. Jefferson, meh. Higgins did nothing. Mims DNP.

Jeudy on deck tonight.

Shenault looked the best from the highlights I saw.  He's just a turck once he gets the ball in his hands.

Don't bother, some peoples entire experience playing and knowledge of football is grabbing a controller and popping in Madden

How so?   Outside of being a fanboy, how can you debate holding the ball for 6 seconds when the line was crap?   And the picks werent his fault?   SAme pass - twice!   and they were directly responsible for two Washington TDS

Either one of those interceptions could have been on the mistiming with receiver. He is making the throw before the break.  Wentz didn't have a great day.  If you think Wentz is the primary problem with this team, then I don't think you have watched this team very much.

Ok cool let’s keep pretending we’re the Chiefs

Wentz should have made sure Scott knew to look inside for the biltzer first.  Scott did not and I think that is on Wentz.

Everyone wants to be the Chiefs. The Eagles don’t have the right coach, system, receivers, and most importantly the right QB.

Arguably, but if he is we are talking on the very fringes of the top 10.

Mahomes, Lamar, Russ, Deshaun, Rodgers, Brees, Ryan are all clearly better. That puts him 8th at best and in the mix with guys like a declining Brady, Dak, Stafford, Goff, etc.
