Not particularly shocking. It really feels like this team since the super bowl year doesn’t have the lightbulb moment until around thanksgiving

that's usually the time we start getting everyone back from injuries the previous year, training camp, and preseason games.

...and where we have JUST enough talent to sometimes get away with shooting ourselves in the foot for a quarter or two.

Sadly Ive said this for a while, Doug is just not a good OC. I like him as a HC, a motivator, but I dont trust his play calling etc. However I think Lurie will ride Doug for a long time cause of the SB win. I wish he could just get his ego in check and realize that maybe someone else could be better at calling the game, scripting, game planning and just be a HC like Coughlin and Belicheat did. Worked in 2017 when he gave away game planning and scripting(aka play calling for first 15-16 plays) result was the number 1 off in the league, highest points in the first half, balanced offense, number 1 in time of possession and a SB winning season.

Based on reports of Lurie over the past year or so, I fully expect Doug to be stripped of playcalling duties if the offense underperforms this year.

I think they could mix it up. Have Pederson call some games (or series) and have others call the rest. It might keep DCs guessing.

For a team that values line play, yesterday was a fing disgrace. I’m not worried too much about the Dline that looks like an easy fix by having a talented DE opposite Graham, the major problem is the oline. I have noticed this team takes a huge step back when just Brandon Brooks is missing, but now it’s a dumpster fire that I don’t even think Lane Johnson fixes.

I also don’t know why you’d be expecting those linemen to excel breaking and pulling and blocking downfield in the screen game when they can’t do it in line but ok

Evolving is roughly 55--60% pass to 40 ish% run ratio. If you look at last year a majority of the teams winning had a more balanced ratio. Then you look at the most unbalanced teams and they all were crap last season. We had a 26% run ratio yesterday. Thats a losing ratio. Oh and before you say it was because we were tring to come back, we had close to that ratio while we were winning as well.

You can think all you want the run dont matter in todays game, but it does if you look at the stats of a winning team.  Anything less then 40% running and your losing that game in most cases. Yes the game changed from a 60-70% run game to a more 45 roughly. If we keep only rushing 25-40% of the game we are looking at a top 5 pick this offseason. Thats a losing philosophy.

I think the ratio is largely BS and tends to become skewed due to who is winning and who is losing or who happens to have the ball at the end of the half.

Obviously we were far more pass heavy and because we did not have the lead late we passed a lot more to really skew the ratio. After going down seven, we passed on 8 of our final 9 plays.

Before that, our ratio was 68-32. Even that is skewed because we passed four straight times late in the second quarter because we were in our 2 minute offense.

In any given game, I couldn’t care less about our run-pass ratio as long as the defense honors the plya-action game. There’s no evidence that Washington didn’t honor our ground attack.

The TE screen is getting really obvious.

They aren't pumping crowd noise into this MNF game? It sounds like a library.

This is absolutely unwatchable. Ugh.

Didn't know Fowler and Herbstreit were doing MNF this year.  Fowler literally just got done doing the US Open yesterday.

Or is this duo for week 1 only and the reg team doing is the 10pm game?  I'm blanking on the names.

I forgot it was a doubleheader. Just turned it on now.

Week 1 only

Main crew is Levy, Riddick, Griese.

Think of how much football has changed in the last 20 years? Which team has changed the least as far as system and philosophy? Unless I’m not thinking of someone, that team is the Patriots.

If the Eagles want to be the Chiefs, they need a new QB.... well maybe that says something about the Hurts pick...

You seem to think a Mahomes is sitting on every street corner

Riddick, Levy, and a third I cant remember are the regulars.  I think they swapped so Fowler didnt have to go cross country

My point is exactly the opposite

Chicken & egg.  The uselessness of Clement and Scott was part of the low run count.

Y'all can keep saying that but doesn't make it true.  Did they have a great game? No.

The 1 single drive that went down the field for a missed FG had an 8 YPC average.

Had a 3 and out all throws. 5 play drive with a 3 yard run. Next drive was Wentz fumble early.

Then game.

If you just ran at 8 YPC and got down the field.....keep doing it.

Clearly passing wasn't working well either.

The Clement/Scott argument is somewhat valid. I’ll give them that. But that speaks to volumes the failure of the offseason plan by the front office. They want to mimic the Chiefs, not get back to where Wentz has been the most successful.

One more point about the running game, people keep saying we should have ran because we were up 17. It was still the first half. It’s not like we could run out the clock.

But, after getting the ball back up 17-0: First play we lost 3 yards on a run. Then Goedert lost yardage on a screen. Then we threw on third and long. So we did try to run.

After forcing a punt, the first play of the drive Wentz was picked. That was with 1:37 left in the first half. That wasn’t the time to pound the ball.

Washington scores to make it 17-7, and we passed three straight times to try and get a FG at the end of the half. We had two great shots at a deep ball and couldn’t connect. Running there was pointless unless you are a coward.

We got the ball at the start of the third quarter, and on first down Scott lost 3 yards on a run. Running on 2nd and 13 is suboptimal, obviously. We punted and Washington made it 17-14.

The next series Wentz is intercepted on the opening play of the series.

No issues here keeping the gas on.

We do that play Wentz threw 2 Int's on far too often to just keep doing it and not think they aren't going to keep jumping it.

Bad play all, IMO, bad decision to throw, bad effort by WR, the crap show we saw replayed twice.

Doug is sadly starting to remind me of my HS Varsity basketball coach.

His "philosophy" was so a** backwards it was just mind numbing.

When guys would get cold he'd keep going back to them, in the same position, until they got it to get their confidence up.

Typically you'd do that during practice, right? Not really a game? 🤦🏻‍♂️

Oh no, not this guy. When someone caught on fire he would actually sit them to "save them" as if that kind of stuff just stays once there.  Doug doesn't seem to do this part, but other is looking more and more likely.

Daniel Jones has similar mannerisms to Eli

I'm trying to listen to Dougs presser.

He might as well just record 2 of them, one for a win, the other for a loss

They all sound the same.

That's cool we brought in a small army to run the same ish as always

Both Steelers and Giants O-Lines mimicking the Eagles O-Line

Roethlisberger looks so bad.

I’m so right on my Wentz/Big Ben comparison. Wentz is more fleet footed but they do the same crap. Bad and good.

well, the steelers front 7 is ridiculous.

Not sure what their OL's excuse is.

This game has punting on 4th and short, 2nd and 10 runs and blocking EDGEs with TE.

Just terrible.
