Fulgham wasnt really having a good game but then he made a big play so people will remember that and have a different opinion.

How so?  Seemed like a fairly normal mediocre level game for a good WR to me.  Normal situation as far as I'm concerned.  Ended 5 for 73.

Amazing, the middle of the O line was getting beat like a red headed step child and Doug kept calling runs up the middle.

For those wanting a big back, Jordan Howard has a base salary of $1.75M this year. We would take on the prorated portion of that, which would be essentially meaningless.

Miami has made him a healthy scratch the past two weeks. My guess is he’s traded or cut after the deadline. If we do trade for him, maybe it’s a swap of bottom of the roster stuff.

Since his 2021 salary is $4.975M, it’ll be basically a half-season rental. We can cut him without a cap hit.

He misjudged that end zone target at the end of the half. Pretty awesome throw from Wentz. Other than that, he seemed fine, and it looked like he was open quite a bit even when not targeted.

There is a difference between reckless and stupid.

5 for 73 is outlier stuff normally with this group of WRs over the last 2-3 years.

Agreed.  Just a normal solid game by a decent NFL WR.  He might never become a top line WR but he's certainly going to be decent (and already is).

Yep.  A normal type of game like this is a large step forward for Eagle WRs at this point.

I'm not sure the Howard actually has any value left.  Miami is pretty middle of the road as a rushing offense, and he's not even dressing.   I'm not against bringing in Howard for a peak, but the cost better be nearly zero.   Howard for JJAW would work for me.

And why put China Doll Jackson in to return a punt?

Cuz Ward just catches it. They were looking for a decent return I’m sure. I’ve been critical of Jackson but man both of those hits he took on that play were dirty. At his age I hope that wasn’t career ending.

Yup.  They didn't want to get the ball at the 10 (or inside the 10).  Jackson was the only one on the roster left that had experience in NFL games doing it, and wasn't just a fair catch machine.    And it worked... thanks to the 15 yard penalty, we got out to about the 25.  That 15 yards completely changes the possession.   It sucks that Desean got hurt out there in that situation, but it was a desperate situation, and if you can't throw him out there with the game on the line like that, then he can't be on the field ever.

When Reagor comes back, he's likely the punt returner, and has some juice.  Greg Ward is Reno Mahe back there.

Absolutely right on the hit, but I'm not sure that exposing him after years of being gimpy was a perfect call.

I get the thought but, they want to win games and I think they felt having him out there was the best way to lead to that. It's too bad but we only had Desean in his prime for a few years, this is no longer Desean.

You can tell EXACTLY when the 15 scripted plays ends and where Doug has to start "thinking on his feet".

Hehe. especially if you can count to 15

He makes a lot of those "bone headed" decisions trying to make plays with the crap we have on the line and at wide receiver. That said he still needs to clean it up.

Couple things that stood out to me.

Mailata took a step back in the 1st half allowing multiple pressures.  He did seem to steady for the most part in the 2nd half.  Not his best game but overall another positive step in a long process.

Fulgham we've already been discussing.  Nothing flashy and mistimed one ball but generally was solid again.

Probably time to end the DeSean story.  I'm banking on him being out either for the year or extended time.  I think it is time to cut him loose.

As for Lane, we need to just put him on the shelf now.  If he can come back in a month then great.  If not then just bring him back next year.

We need an RB with at least a little bit of size.

Wentz had the one terrible throw that was intercepted and then also had a very bad throw across his body that could very well have been intercepted.  Other than that he gutted out a W with a very nice performance.  It will be great to see what he can do once the OL is stable and he gets some more weapons to work with.

think someone mentioned this earlier..  hurts' 2pt attempt late in the 4th.  shoulda seen this:

that's an easy walk-in for scott.

Dillard suffers a torn bicep ..... so that puts him in Watkins and Marcus Smith territory?

I don't follow much O-line play across the league but there were 7 OT taken in a 20 pick range.  Does anyone on here know much on how these guys are panning out?  There was a mix of guys who were 20 vs 23 years old as well as LT and RT.  Keep in mind the Eagles also traded up to take Dillard.  I know Jawaan Taylor and Cody Ford were 2 big names heading in to the draft.  This doesn't take into account the skill position players that were passed on to take Dillard.  I'm not calling him a bust yet but Dillard IMO was not the right pick.  Wasn't a fan then and still not not.

22- Eagles, Dillard (25)

23- Texans, Tytus Howard (24)

31- Falcons, Kaleb McGary (25)

35- Jaguars, Jawaan Taylor (23)

37- Panthers, Greg Little (23)

38- BIlls, Cody Ford (23)

41- Broncos, Dalton Risner (25)

Yup.

Here's the thing, I can get the criticism if Desean is put back there for a (relatively) meaningless punt in the 2nd quarter or even the 3rd quarter.  But, this was crunch time, game on the line, etc.   One of those, do it or die moments, and it was even bigger than the game itself.  A loss to the Giants pretty much seals the end of a playoff run (to get to the playoffs, not in the playoffs).  And while some around here don't want to see that, the players, coaches, and front office are fighting for the playoffs.  It was the right call, and while his injury sucks, it worked out for the team in the short run (for the scoring drive) and perhaps even the long run (forcing them back to relying on the young kids and likely getting either Watkins and/or Reagor activated for the next game.

And if a football player can't be used in a situation with the game on the line, then he shouldn't be in the game at all.  That wasn't reckless by Doug and Co., that was desperation.

Yah this is what I was talking about. Rules are simple. If you have a +1 advantage, automatic throw. It's good process even if you don't make it. He also has Mailata in space there, so it's not like he doesn't have "real" blockers.

The harder decision is if it's 3-2 on the bottom with Wentz instead of Scott. I'd still throw it to Wentz, but I'd get not wanting to do it.

Yep. Once Hurts moves with the ball, the DB left. Fake the QB power and throw back to Scott. Walk in TD.

QB Daniel Jones reached 21.23 MPH on his epic, unforgettable 80-yard run vs the #Eagles, the fastest speed reached by any QB as a ball carrier since 2018, per

. The longest run by a QB who didn’t score on the play since at least 1975.

I missed it fell asleep

I took consolation in the fact that they didn't run out of plays this time

Alphagrand with the score prediction win with 24-21 Eagles

Honorable mentions dr. Philly with 24-20 and swoop with 26- 21

Absolutely.  It's hero ball.  And while we are depleted like this, hero ball is frankly just about the only way that we can win these games.  The OL is swiss cheese and he's under duress almost constantly, and when that happens, especially consistently, it gets into the QB's head and speeds up the thought process... leading to mistimed throws, slight overthrows, and dangerous scrambles... the throw across the field was a step too far for me, same with the INT.   Both were plays that he was well outside the pocket and had enough time to really think about just putting the ball into the stands.   But, he feels the pressure to 'make a play'.   This is almost Buddy Ball back in the 80s where the plan was for Randall to go out and make 3 big plays a game in order to win.  Its not quite that bad, but to a certain extent, that's the unspoken dynamic of this offense.  Wentz has to make up for the deficiencies all around him.   That's a lot of pressure on him.  And, he hasn't turtled up, he hasn't bailed on the team, instead he's out there putting his body on the line each and every game, literally fighting for every last yard.  Doug needs to also stop using him as a FB.  I know that they were without Sanders, and the rest of the RB stable is weak.  But, Huntley looked decent in limited time, and could have shouldered a bit more burden.  BUT... Opeta was so bad, the middle wasn't an option.

I didnt realize Jones had that type of giddy up.

Mailata played OK, better than he was projected earlier in the season.  At this point, Peters can take all his time to recover.  More game time for Mailata is better.

Fulgham played well.  Wentz has trust in him and looked for him when the plays broke down.  That is chemistry to build on.

DJax's time is ending soon.  His number was called at the beginning, but faded after.  The hits he took on that punt return were bad and he may not return from the injury.

They should just put Lane on IR now and give him the time to recover fully.  Risking him less than 100% will just extend the injury time and/or long-term problem.

Wentz made too many mistakes.  Granted that he was trying to make the most out of the plays.  But the INT and cross field pass were rookie mistakes that he should not make.  OL and the receivers not opening contributed to Wentz's problems.  The coaches have to get him not to hold the ball too long and/or forcing the ball into tight coverage.

Hurts in the game had not produced much.  His presence in the plays already threw away any surprise factors.  If they want to use him in surprise plays, better design some good schemes and practise them well before bring it on.

Whew.
