Maybe not. A WR4 is an active player each week. WR5 is iffy.

Agreed, I suppose. WR5 would need to offer ST help.  And frankly, the fact that Ward is currently our PR makes me sad beyond words.  He's not fumbling the punts, so that's good.  But, that's where it ends.  No return potential, no real aggression in running up to fair catch short punts to preserve field position on the bounce... and then when the ball does land short on a "Poison" call, for some ridiculous reason he stays near the ball like a moron.   We are losing the 'hidden' yardage battle in the punt game, because bad punts turn into decent punts when he doesn't run up to catch them before they bounce forward for 10-15 yards.

I did not come away with a good impression of Opeta. My sense was no push at all in the run game and was frequently bullrushed into Carson’s lap. I’m waiting on the all-22.

I watched the all 22 through the first three drives of the second half and here's my thoughts. It will be interesting to see what you think, as you know a lot more about oline play than I do.

In the first half, he had one really bad rep where he got pushed back into Wentz and had a holding penalty as well. He had another holding penalty which looked legit, but they are letting a lot worse holds go this year, so whatever. I saw another pressure that BJ Hill got where he threw him off balance, but other than that I thought he was fine in pass protection.

His run blocking seemed pretty good at time. He had one really good block on the screen play. He wasn't dominant when he was asked to block at the second level, but wasn't horrible. He ran some good combo blocks with Mailata, and they were pretty successful running to that side, especially on the opening drive.

In the second half he had a bad rep against a LB where he just missed the guy. That was on the second drive. On the first drive they had a 3rd and short that Scott got stuffed on, but it looked like he did his job. On the third drive he was stood up on a run play and was late picking up a stunt on second down that led to a pressure, but wasn't too bad.

Overall, it looked pretty good to me.

For any cap heads, spotrac has a cool new feature where you can cut, restructure or trade players and it will automatically calculate your new cap for you

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/tools/roster/philadelphia-eagles/2021/

Hopefully easier to maneuver than overthecap’s tool. Earlier in the year i used OTC and showed what the eagles could do to get under but theirs was super difficult to maneuver with on the phone

It's a little rusty. The restructure button doesn't seem to work. Seems new and has a few wrinkles to iron out.

Just tried it. Problem i had was it didn’t show me what are cap was at after doing cuts and restructures

Nah, you should give up trying to sell me on McLane and other beats and I should give up trying to convince you Ward is better than your definition of a JAG.  Neither of us is likely to agree on either subject.

I’ll settle for being right.

How the heck is the Syracuse/Clemson game so close?

Eagles should offer Ertz (know he’s hurt) and a 3rd for Michael Thomas

They could offer 2 1st round picks and Ertz for Thomas and the Saints would still need to think about it.

Olave for OSU is now concussed.

You gotta do all the moves you want then hit Publish Roster. Then it shows you. Seems cool if they can get it fine tuned. The trade feature is cool. You can select who you want to trade and pick a team and any player and it calculates the move.

It gives me the individual players cap numbers but not the overall team total. I mean i could add them up myself but i know OTC shows it after doing all the moves

Syracuse has given Clemson fits the last 3-4 years.

It should be on the right sidebar, but there are kinks to iron out for sure.

Pick 6 for Syracuse

Pick 6 for Syracuse

didnt think that was possible for Lawrence from reading some posts about him in here.

Shhhh - I'm in the middle of a debate over whether he should even be on the field. I'm being diplomatic. Maybe!

On this team he should be on the field.  Next season, maybe not, but this season, no doubt.

It shows it in the top right. But after a few seconds an add pops up and covers it. One of those things they need to fix.

With all due respect I_P (and I mean that sincerely) you too are missing the point. Fulgham is playing great - but he is not playing above the expectations of Jeffrey, Jackson, and Reagor to start the season. AND he is developing chemistry with Wentz - he didn't just instantly have it. And as that chemistry develops Wentz numbers steadily improve. It's not about what the Practice Squad guys CAN be - it's about what they were to start the season and the fact that Wentz is working with them instead of the guys he was suppose to.

I don't know why this is so hard.

Well Ward was the starting slot going into the season, most everyone thought Jeffery was on PUP and then IR or trade mid season, DJax would play a short while and get hurt  and while no one expected Reagor to be injured then he hurt his shoulder in camp and then the thumb.   Expectation was JJAW would cede the X to Reagor until DJax went down.  The Eagles picked up Fulgham two weeks before the end of camp. Expectation was he was a camp body. Everyone expected Burnett to be some sort of superstar because of the beats’ tweets yet even with the injuries, he has sat on the PS.  Meanwhile, the most targeted WR in camp, Ward, got very little press.  JJAW - sits while Fulgham plays.  Watkins, an inactive last week.  Hightower struggles with a 45% catch rate. Reagor, when healthy will likely slide into the Z, which is kind of what we expected and DJax will sunset. The money may be going to Alshon and DJax but the value seems to be in Ward and Fulgham.  Meanwhile, Hightower runs fast enough to get Richard Rodgers looking like a Giant beater.  At least Rodgers shows some inkling of how to get YAC.  We can hope Zach was watching that.

And stop quoting context-less stats and show me some plays where Ward creates yards after the catch. Any JAG WR can catch a six-yards pass against zone coverage and turn around and get tackled for 9 yards.

I think your expectations for a slot WR are a little unrealistic.   There are only a handful of slot guys like Godwin and Lockett the NFL.

Most slot WR's basically do what Ward does...which is make good plays on slants and in tight spaces.  If they can get some YAC and break one, that's an added bonus but there's not that many guys out there playing slot that "have it all" ...because if they "had it all" they likely would be playing outside.

But still NFL WRs.  Charles Johnson and Torrence Small were NFL players.... not a carousel of practice squad fodder, mental basketcases and dopes running into teammates.  Fulgham at least seems to belong.   Ward is Greg Lewis.  That's at least a 1-1 comparison.

That is pretty spot on except I think Ward is better across the middle and Greg was the king of the cut back for first down.

You’re wrong. I don’t even want a dedicated slot receiver. I want three good receivers who rotate into the slot based on the matchup. If DJax, Reagor and Alshon somehow were all healthy at one time, we probably would have seen that.

Funny, I feel I am.

Evidently another no talent guy. All he does is get open and make catches. I loved Avant but Ward is faster, quicker, and Better with YAC. Not by all that much, to be sure, but what the real basis of comparison is is smarts. They both have them.
No offense, but you have a tendency to dismiss players if they’re not ideal. In doing so you miss what they can do by listing only what they can’t. JMHO, of course.

So Ward is basically a better version of Avant?  Got it.

What a catch and body control in the OSU/Nebraska game.  My goodness.

I think ideally that's what the team would like to do but injuries happen so until you have the luxury of being able to do that, Ward is a solid fit.

Even when they have the ability to do that, I still think Ward gets a solid amount of snaps out of the slot because he's A-B-C consistent and you need that type of consistency in order to sustain drives.

I would think if him as a WR-3A type, depending on who they are facing, defensive scheming, etc etc.  The rotational theory would also come into play depending on match ups etc etc
