It's all we have right now so what's the point?

We’re also talking about whether he’s good enough to be a third receiver moving forward.

Meh.  Up by 3 TD's instead of 20 points.  Not a big difference between being up by 20 vs 19 points if they did not convert it.

I had the over, abs they went for it.

And eventually they hit the over.

So I'm good. But up that much, Syracuse want coming back. Just saying,   it's fishy.

Its not a matter of not liking Ward.  Ward is what he is.  He's a borderline NFL players.  Bottom of the roster, bottom of the depth chart.  He's a guy you should be able to throw out there in  a pinch if injuries happen for a couple weeks, he's not a guy you build your offense around or don't look to upgrade.

Nobody is saying he's a guy to build your offense around.  As far as a #3 or slot type WR he's more than capable.

Yeah I mean if we happen to come across better WRs than Ward then he'll get replaced.  If we had 2 really good WRs on the outside with Ward in the slot then that would be more than enough.

Greg Ward is only playable as a slot WR if there are 2 vertical WRs on the outside. We have Reagor. Can Fulgham play vertically enough? Hightower/Reagor/Ward can work.

When we finally have NFL starters? Maybe

Maybe people prefer a 5.8 yard catch to a drop or incompletion due to not being able to get open.

You’re basically proving my and E45’s point.

It's going to be a long week...

I'd say in that role he would be merely capable.

NFL yards per target leaders. Ward is surrounded mostly by tight ends and RBs. That’s not good, fellas.

Waddle is headed to the hospital in an ambulance. Damn.

Uh oh.  That sure doesn't sound like a simple fracture or high ankle sprain.

He has earned his spot on this team.  He and Fulgham are the two receivers that have earned their paychecks.  He is not a gamebreaker, but he catches the ball, doesn't give it away, blocks well, is responsible, doesn't get called for penalties.   Earned it all.

Yup and catches every punt safely

He obviously is. You need those cheaper role players

Except for the ones he lets drop and roll...

Strangely, the Eagles are like 4th in rushing.

14th  rush yards/ game

He was also lucky that he fumbled one return out of bounds.

Yeah, I forgot they have the extra game... so still middle of the road, which seems inflated compared to what we've seen in terms of consistency.  They've been highly inconsistent running the ball.

I don't think I have ever seen a tv coverage map like this:

Thank you for the reply on Goodwin; I thought it was a bit strange he was showing as a $4.4M cap hit.

In general terms, do the Eagles get more cap relief from trading guys in the offseason, or just releasing them?  Naturally it’s better for roster building if the Eagles could get draft picks for guys like Ertz — just wondering if cap rules are set to discourage or encourage this.

The only difference of trade vs cut cap wise is guaranteed roster bonus or base salaries. If they have part of their base salary guaranteed and you cut him, you pay that to him limiting your savings. If you trade him, the team receiving him is responsible in paying so you save more money. If there is no more guaranteed base it’s the same if you cut or trade.

BTW... that's not to knock on Ward.  But, it is also not to make him into something that he's not.

If the Eagles had taken Jefferson over Ward, I would play Jefferson in the slot.  They reasoned with Goedert and Ertz that a DJax replacement made better sense, both short term and long term.  (The number one target on this team is Ertz, frankly the slot falls to a close tie with Goedert for #4). Frankly, I thought Hightower would play some in the slot. Still do but he needs to improve his catching first. I just don’t think after Agholor that a slot is their focus.  I also note that Ward is playing some outside too.  Ideally, they get a player that can play both Inside and out, either from Hightower or possibly next year.  Hopefully between Fulgham and JJAW they have solved the X.  Slot is really a lower priority in this O without the injuries.

Who in their right mind would have drafted Jefferson over Ward?

That's a bad production team and a bad announcing team, but I think I'll tune in to that tomorrow over the Fox game.   Its sad that CBS' NFL coverage has turned into such a crapfest.

Poor majority of America is going to have to listen to Charles Davis

DeVonta Smith catches everything.

He is WAY too skinny.   He reminds me of Steve Smith, the USC version.  I'm not so sure how his game will translate to the NFL.

It didn't look that bad on the replay I saw.  No worse than what happened to DJack.
