ball touched ground out of bounds before pylon.

I don’t think that should be a good conversion but I would be shocked if they do overturn it.

Was that a Penix joke?

It was a stretch, admittedly.

His joke was better.

What the.....

At first I couldn't see the ball bounce around the 20....so I thought it had landed in the end zone.  That ball still went over 75 yards in the air though....

I'd say in that role he would be merely capable.

Well yeah...usually your #3 or #4 WR isnt a pro bowler or All Pro.  Its usually a player that is solid and gets the job done.  Someone like Ward.

The frustrating part of this conversation is that people seem to resort to things like the bolded. The difference between Ward’s level of play and a pro bowler is cavernous.

2017 Agholor would be a great slot receiver. He had quickness for YAC and speed to beat teams vertically. Ward has neither. His play is not close to 2017 Agholor, who wasn’t a pro bowler or All-Pro.

theres certainly ample room for improvement between a pro bowler or All Pro, and someone like Ward.

Yup. When I first saw the ranking I was like🤔 but yeah they've played 7 games.

And agree their run game has been inconsistent, which with the instability of o line makes some sense, then at the same time Doug's tends to abandon the run game for no reason at all far too often

Missing Sanders for multiple games and relying on Scott and Clement as the other options explains it too.  Huntley looked like a guy I'd like to see get a few more chances, but he's got a lot to learn about the passing game.

Or... someone in his first or second year with upside.   As for 'getting the job done'... a little more than 6 ypc would be nice from our #3.

So much wrong with the end of that PSU game other than Ford not taking a knee. Franklin not running something like a draw on the second down and then settling for a 57 yarder on 3rd down when you had enough time to get 5 or so more yards and spike it or get out of bounds was stupid too. And of course the kicker was around 2-3 yards short on the kick.

And also, Ford looking towards the sideline as he approached the goalline tells me that he wasn't 100% sure if he should go in or go down. To me, that's on coaching too. You need to be telling him that on the sideline before the play. Stupid move on his end, but it's just as much on coaching if you're not making it perfectly clear to him before the play that he needs to go down.

That was an incredible effort, and I think he was short... but the call on the field carries the day.  They had a shot straight down the goal line, but never showed it... which is weird.  Ball might have reached the plane before hitting OOB, but I don't think so.   Either way... good for Indiana.  1987 since they beat a top 10 team.

Franklin is a moron.  Great recruiter, bad coach.

Damn. I've seen a triple, but never saw a quadruple doink. Amazing.

The unfortunate thing is, you think they HAVE to call it a TD so that they give Indiana the chance to have the play reviewed since it was so close.

BUT, since it was so close, they couldnt really overturn it then. And NOT a TD was probably really the right call.

Sucks for PSU and someone who got every other game right in their parlay and ended up with 0 dollars.

Yup.    Was a 2 point conversion, but yeah...   and that call was the game, but it should never come down to a single play, especially a top 10 against Indiana.

He's at 8 ypc on the year, 8.5 for his career.

I am extremely excited about hightower, because what Ive noticed is that we cant really say he has bad hands. His issue is that he tries to basket catch everything with his forearms against his chest. Id be more concerned if he was trying to be a hands catcher, and just had cinder block hands. But thats not his issue. Its all about tecnique. He needs practice hands catching. But thats totally fixable.

He will be inconsistent probably all year. But he should be able to improve a lot over the next few if they can get him to start hands catching.

He can catch with his hands but he doesn’t trust them because of his drops.  Hand teaching isn’t that easy.

Havent really seen his hands be cause of his drops tough.

That's not much better.   I was quoting Manu's stats, which might have been per target rather than per catch.   But, people around here were complaining about Zach Ertz getting 10 yards per catch just a year or two ago.   Now all of a sudden... 8 is good?   I don't know... seems odd to me.
