Yeah Blake Snell is so good.  I figured they'd win tonight and Walker would do his thing in game 7.  Watching this game I kept thinking if they can keep it 1-0 until Snell is taken out then maybe they can score a couple runs on their bullpen.

They should have won in 2017 vs the Astros.  Not even the whole cheating thing but just some dumb moves from Dave Roberts.  2018 Red Sox were just the better team.  But yeah Mookie Betts was definitely the difference maker.

I'm happy to see them win a WS but it still seems weird.  60 game season is way too short.  I dont think these championships this year should have an asterisk but there should be some mention of the circumstances.  Even the Lakers title seemed weird.

Honestly if I’m Snell I’m so mad. Like I feel bad for him specifically. Don and I had the argument last year when the Astros just refused to use Gerrit Cole in the seventh inning and they were winning  Wound up blowing up in their face like cash’s decision. You go with your best players there. If you’re gonna lose you lose with your best guys throwing at that point.

I feel like baseball is the one that should have the asterisk or mention the most. Like you said 60 games is too short. It isn’t indicative of the grind in baseball. I think you had better postseason games because of that 60 game schedule. I think you saw a lot of players who are relatively healthy and fresh because they were basically in midseason form . Like I mentioned in another post above last year the nationals don’t even make the playoffs if there’  just 60 games. The nationals got hot the second half of that year and that’s when they won the title.

To me it feels like baseball try to rush this season because They didn’t want to have a blank season where no one won a title like they had with the strike season with the Expos should’ve won. and the Cardinals and the Marlins completely screwed a bunch of teams with the scheduling due to them going to strip clubs and casinos then getting covid.

He doesn’t even have the common sense or decency to reinstate Pete Rose, but MLB has no problem employing a scumbag like Mark McGwire.

after the whole Astros incident and even the Red Sox got caught cheating to, I’m not sure why baseball won’t let him back in. They basically gave the Astros a slap on the wrist and he still paying a punishment for over 3 decades.

And the Astros still are credited as champions on top of it.  Rose should be in the HOF.  The steroid scandal had far more direct impact on games than Rose's gambling and there is no evidence he gambled on the Reds to lose.

I agree the steroid era has so much more of a black eye then what Pete Rose did.  like you said They don’t even have definitive proof he gambled on the Reds to lose games.

They were never going to take that title away from the Astros. If they did, they’d also had to take the title away from the Red Sox. Even though the Red Sox didn’t do it in the WS, they did it all season long so that they could get home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and we don’t know what their actual record would’ve been. Obviously and likely still good but how good. They were Never going to take two consecutive titles away regardless of what people wanted.

Frankly I think there’s been cheating going on for a while now. People didn’t hear about the Yankees but they had to go to court to suppress information getting out proving that they were also cheating During those years. I just think the Astros are arrogant enough and stupid enough to get themselves caught

I was hoping that the Astros will get to play the Dodgers in this world series. I thought the ratings for baseball it would’ve been through the roof if you got those two teams.

Tampa was a better matchup for the Dodgers. Honestly, I don't know if the Dodgers would've beaten Houston. It would've been even a tougher series than this one was. And, if the Dodgers would've lost to the Astros, it would be even more devastating.  The stakes would've been a lot higher.

Yeah I agree that Tampa Bay was the best matchup if you were a Dodgers fan. I don’t think their lineup is all that impressive And they were young and inexperienced. I actually think Dodgers fan were probably thrilled that the Yankees got beat by Tampa Bay. I think the Yankees probably would’ve been the AL team in the World Series if it wasn’t for the rays. I imagine you would’ve saw Gerrit Cole 3 times in that series if they could’ve started him game 1

the Houston drama that series would have made baseball a hit in the ratings. Tampa Bay was never going to get the ratings they wanted because let’s face facts, no one cares about Tampa Bay teams except the Buccaneers because they have Tom Brady.

I kind of think the Dodgers would’ve won that series. Now if justin verlander was healthy I think the Astros have an excellent chance vs Dodgers in that series. he was done for the year so they didn’t have that. I also kind of think the Dodgers would’ve had even extra motivation in that series.

Motivation can also lead to pressing though.  The Dodgers lost 3 out of 4 to Houston this year.  Tampa was a scrappy team, but they didn't have enough offense to take the Dodgers to the brink. But, Tampa did more than I thought they would.

2 x back surgery, broken leg, torn pec, and a ton of other dings at an old 31, in a COVID season and needs a new contract or making $17.5M next year before becoming a FA. Count me out.

Maybe some team with a one or two year SB window goes for it, but I don’t see it paying off.

Maybe. However i just think the Astros lack of pitching depth would’ve shown up over that series. The dodgers had the depth. The Astros really didn’t. Now I think their lineup is a lot better than the rays. I think they would’ve scored more runs just simply because they have better positional players. But pitching wise likely given up more. I was more surprised at the Braves were able to get up 3 to 1 in that series. I didn’t think the Braves pitching was all that great until they got to the postseason

what did the rays finish the series out with runners in scoring position. It had to be close to .100-.125

I would have showered as soon as Betts hit the double and been out of the building by the time Betts slid into home to go ahead 2-1.  I’d have been on a plane by the time the game ended.

Exactly 29 years ago that Jack Morris pitched 10 shutout innings to win the World Series for Minnesota.  He would have punched Cash out if he signalled to the bullpen without even talking to his starting pitcher.  Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling won a World Series for Arizona by themselves.  Even Madison Bumgarner won a World Series by being a workhorse, and he never even won 20 games in a season.

Analytics is ruining MLB.  From the starting pitcher not even going 5 full innings, to the bush league infield shift, to the home-run-or strikeout approach hitters take now — because some analytics goofs measure exit velocity and launch angles instead of teaching batters to hit line drives.  It’s barely even watchable anymore.

Well the Phillies being awful and their ownership in front office being a bunch of morons makes it super hard to watch too. we are only three years away from the same playoff drought we had from 93 to 2006.

Yeah there’s a time and a place to use analytics. I feel like baseball just goes above and beyond on them. Like tonight is a perfect example of where you have to use the eye test to make the move. Snow was peak Cy Young snow tonight. That was like Halladay against the Cincinnati Reds and it would’ve been like Charlie Manuel taking him out because he walked a guy. It feels like more and more baseball has these playoff series in two games are just bullpen games because no one wants to use starters anymore or trust them.

I actually give Dave Roberts some credit in the series because he played a little small ball when the analytics would tell you not to do it. And in previous years I thought he lost games not doing that.

My best friends Dodgers fan he was worried all night. I said as soon as Snell is taken out of this game you guys are gonna win. The rays left so many runners on base that you knew it was eventually going to catch up to them. The rays consistently through the series just left so many runners in scoring position.

Honestly both Slay and Hargrave are going go see their talents go to waste here unless the Eagles turn it around fast.  Both on 3 year deals.  Do the Eagles really have what it takes to flip this roster over the next 2 years?  This year is a wash.  We might make the playoffs but that's because the East sucks.  Next year I have no idea what's going to happen.  How do they get out of cap hell?  What does Howie do in the draft?  By the time their contracts are up will be the time this team is ready to compete again.

Yes

we have meatmcginley believing that no one ever needs surgery, or to miss any games for any injury. And then we have young beast wanting to quit the season just so everyone can get some surgeries.

The truth is that no one who gets surgery or doesn't get surgery gets better when playing for the Eagles.

I have a feeling once Goedert/ Reagor and Sanders get back this team will kick arse the rest of the year. Could be I'm a homer but Reagor/ Fulghram/Ward then Goedert and Sanders could get Wentz what he needs all over the field. As much as we **** the defense has been "okay"

I'm not sure Dunlap has much value, probably end up cut....best case a late rd pick.

Now if this was 3 or 4 years ago, now you would be talking a 3rd.

The defense has been ok for now, we all know by now that as soon as the offense gets going the defense starts to crap the bed almost immediately.

The offense will start scoring 25 a game and the defense will start allowing 30+

He would make sense for the 49ers but he doesn't make sense for many other teams.

Add Ike to the list of returns.   Lane with ten days, a game and then fourteen days gets some rest, JP comes back for a G position and then getting Ike back would really strengthen the line.  Hopefully with Driscoll healthy for the swing T role.

Getting TJ back will help shore up the run game.  TJ on run downs and Singleton on pass downs.

Howard is a shadow of his former self.  No thanks.  Rather fight through this year and draft two CBs next year.

I’m really surprised seattle hasn’t been in on griffen or Dunlap if they are only going for late round picks. They desperately need pass rush Help.

Dallas is heading into full-on tank/quit mode.

They are the most talented team in the division, but they are also the only team that I think has completely quit.  The 2 games against Dallas may end up being easier than our remaining games against NYG and WFT.  I seriously think Dallas is the worst team in the division (NFL?) for the second half of the season.

The Giants are the least talented team in the division, but they are still interested enough to throw a punch (as we saw Thursday night).  But that was also their best punch...and it still wasn't enough to stop a horrible, injury decimated Eagles team.

The division is a 2 horse race between the Eagles and WFT.  Eagles are slightly more talented, have vets who know how to win, and have an NFL qb...but WFT has the head to head edge, at the moment, and a better defense.

I'd say 70/30 likelihood Eagles take division over WFT.

Do you really think that these guys who come back will stay back?

For goedert, lane and Sanders i would wait until after the bye for them to come back. Give them the extra time to heal. Reagor should be fine, it was a thumb injury it's likely healed faster than the others
